Ever wondered what’s it like to be in the studio with Nelly Furtado? Luckily, Bajo Otra Luz collaborator Alex Cuba knows and he shared some insight when we sat down with him at last week’s Latin Alternative Music Conference.

The Cuban-Canadian singer-songwriter co-wrote more than half of the songs on Nelly’s new Mi Plan album, including the title track duet.
“Nelly is still in love with music," Alex said. "Every time we write something cool, she will jump! She will be so excited about it! It’s inspirational and I love it.”
Cuba has taken home Juno Awards (Canada’s highest music honor), collaborated with Corinne Bailey Rae, and mastered the art of jazz-fusion guitar. Sounds like pairing him up with fellow northerner Nelly Furtado was a match that was meant to happen!
If you’re a fan of Mi Plan (like most critics across the world are), take a moment to check out Alex Cuba. His 2009 Alex Cuba album has tons of funk/jazz/pop experiments and he’s even hitting the road this Fall, with September performances at La Zona Rosa in Austin TX and Anaheim California’s House Of Blues!
You can find out more tour details at http://www.alexcuba.com. For more from our interview with Alex Cuba, check out our LAMC Video Playlist!

Yes! We've been waiting 2 long years for a new Calle 13 album and their 4th LP Detonacion C-13 will FINALLY hit stores this October.
To get their fans psyched, (s if we needed a reason), the rap duo constructed a crafty teaser which they recently uploaded to their website.

Did you ever want to learn how to build a DIY bacon bomb? Residente and Visitante's instructional video teaches you (in three languages) how to make a molotov cocktail with ingredients found in any home including fried eggs, bacon, condoms, a bridal garter, flowers, and assonant rhymes.
Not a word about the album's track list, producers, or any guests involved in the project, but hey, we needed a creative Calle 13 fix and they certainly delivered!
What's your take on the teaser? Is it creative, controversial or both? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3!

There were many great highlights to this year’s Latin Alternative Music Conference in NYC, but one of our favorites had to be getting to chat with Argentinean reggae star Fidel Nadal. Este cantautor es todo un amor! From his easy going demeanor to his love-filled lyrics, Nadal exudes positivity and is more than happy to share the good vibes.

Raised within an artistic family has influenced him greatly, from his mother’s anthropology to having a film director for a dad. Nadal told us his father always encouraged him to give his best in everything he does, and he’s kept that advice close to heart. Even with over two decades in his musical profession, he maintains an upmost respect for the positive power of music.
Check out his thoughts on music’s impact in this clip from our interview:
Fidel's mega-hit single “International Love” has been well received all over the world, and even featured on EA Sports’ FIFA 10 fútbol video game soundtrack. We asked Nadal if he’s played the game, he told us his 10 year old son has and enjoys it very much. ¡Hay, que cute!

Anyone who has ever had a love-hate relationship knows the sharp stab of a broken heart. For "Misery," Maroon Five decided to go with an almost literal interpretation of that pain.
Adam Levine's lady might make relationship drama look sexy, but we all know that the prettier they are, the harder they open a can of whoop ass, right? Remind you of anyone?
"Misery" is off Maroon 5's upcoming Hands All Over album.

Nice! A new trailer for Robert Rodriguez's "Grindhouse" style film "Machete" recently premiered online.
This latest sneak peek promises tons of violence, sex, and mayhem! Robert De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba all make cameos in the two minute teaser...noticeably absent however is Lindsay Lohan.
The troubled starlet is nowhere to be seen in 20th Century Fox's latest cut of the trailer, which is odd considering Rodriguez's recent praise of La Lohan, who was recently sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating of her probation.
Looks like the studio isn't as fond of La Lohan! Ouch!

We love catching Latin artists right on the cusp of their mainstream breakthrough. We’ve known about Chile’s Ana Tijoux for years (long live Makiza!), but there are still some hip-hop fans who have yet to experience her raw power on the mic. Thankfully, that’s totally about to change.
With her much hyped North American summer tour, and the massive buzz surrounding her 1977 album, Ana is now an undeniable force.

Team Blogamole is beyond psyched about these exclusive interviews we scored with her at last week’s Latin Alternative Music Conference! This is the prime “Way Back When” footage we’ll be talking about in five years, after Ana has won Grammys, Oscars, and a Nobel Prize for literature. Say what? Do we really think she’s capable of all that? You bet!
Watch Ana reveal all of her exciting ambitions to Tr3s:
“I would like to make an album with African musicians. I would like to write a book, make documentaries, and do other stuff that interests me. Hip hop is an amazing music [style], but I think we’ve got to be more free in our creations.”
African rhythms, novels, documentaries… We think it’s awesome that Ana’s looking to expand her creativity!

There are two types of moviegoers in the world: Those who like spoilers and those who don’t. Well, actually, some of us hate spoilers but just CAN’T RESIST clicking on those links! This is one of those moments. We’ve got some first peeks at Leonardo Di Caprio’s highly hyped (and highly secretive) new flick, “Inception.” For over a year, people have been wondering what the heck this movie’s about and now we’ve found our first bit of insight.
Granted, there’s actually nothing MAJOR in the four clips that hit the web this week, but we still consider them pretty juicy. We're given little tidbits that explain Leo's character, as well as insight into the roles played by Michael Caine, Ellen Page, Ken Watanabe, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
It’s obvious that the special effects in this movie are going to be amazing (as glimpsed in the Ellen Page scene). Coming from the mind of “Dark Knight” director Christopher Nolan, how can you go wrong?
"Inception" hits theaters on July 16.

Juanes premiered his new single "Yerbatero" during the World Cup's opening ceremonies, but a sneak peek for the guitar driven track arrived online last week.
"Yerbatero" is an aggressive departure from the romance of Juanes' last album, La Vida...Es Un Ratico, and delivers a tremendous pop appeal and contagious dance beat.
What do you think of the teaser? Weigh in below or @MTV3!

Shortly after the devastating earthquake, Demi Lovato gave young music fans in Chile a reason to smile, cheer, and celebrate once again. Back in May, the teen sensation knocked out an incredible show at Santiago’s Movistar Arena!
One of South America’s most famous concert venues, Movistar has hosted artists like Beyonce, Wisin Y Yandel, Shakira, and more. It's capacity reaches over 12,000, and by the looks of Demi’s video diary, nearly every seat was full.
The Cambio video Demi released is the first part of an ongoing series, showcasing her “South American Adventure” and really gives some insight into how big of a star she’s become! At 17, she’s already got a hit Disney Channel show, two Top 5 albums, and has gone on tours that have literally taken her all over the world!
And with the release of this new video series, fans can experience the madness along with her. From the limo rides, to the autographs, to the way she handles that guitar onstage…you can tell Demi’s an absolute pro! We can’t wait to see what happens when she hits Argentina and Brazil!
