Jennifer Lopez sure seems to be enjoying the TV world these days. She's scored a major payday on American Idol, is producing two reality shows, and now is planning to collaborate with Silvio Hora on a Latino dramedy for FOX.

Silvio, as you may recall, shot to fame for adapting Ugly Betty and serving as its head writer for four seasons. Since its cancellation last year, we've been anxiously awaiting his return to the TV and now it looks like he's found his project.

The new untitled series will focus on three Latina sisters and should be blending the same mix of laughs and tears that Betty was famous for. Jennifer became attached to the project after some meetings with FOX head Kevin Reilly.

It all sounds very exciting to us and should hopefully hit the small screen soon. Of course, our biggest curiosity revolves around which actresses will play the three hermanas. Perhaps a famous face from the past?

Are you looking forward to J. Lo and Silvio's new series? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.

Ugly Betty fans got a huge shock last week when that headline got plastered all over the internet. No it wasn’t Freddy Rodriguez or Tony Plana that got arrested for this horrible crime, but rather a bit actor from the show named Michael Brea, who also appeared in Step Up 3D!

Image : Daily News

News stories don’t get more gruesome than this. Apparently last Tuesday (November 23), police were called to the Brea family’s Brooklyn home where they found Michael’s mom decapitated from a samurai sword! After a struggle, they were able to arrest the actor and transport him to the Bellevue mental hospital.

Trust us, the story only gets stranger from there. After he was taken in, Brea began saying that he was possessed by demons and they were the ones who told him to kill his mother. In an interview with The New York Daily News, he went on to explain,

“I felt like Neo from ‘The Matrix.’ I began hearing voices and feeling powerful. I didn’t kill her. I killed the demon inside her. So be it. It was the work of God.”

Wasn’t Neo the good guy from The Matrix? We can’t imagine what made Brea go off the edge like that, but we’re sending major condolences to the surviving members of his mother’s family. Thankfully, now he’s off the streets and most certainly NOT returning for any Ugly Betty reunion movies.

Yes Ugly Betty may be long gone, but fans of the show’s witty tongue-and-cheek style may be in for a treat. The show’s creative team (including producer Salma Hayek Pinault) is now working on translating another novela for ABC!

Image : Getty Images

Salma and her producing partner, Jose Tamez, have gotten the greenlight to create a “re-imagining” of the Argentine soap Los Roldan. Unfortunately there won’t be any brace-faced America Ferreras involved, but reports say it will have plenty of romance and comedy.

And to sweeten the deal for hardcore Betty fans, they’ve even brought back the show’s old writers to help bring the project to life. The plot of the new series will supposedly revolve around a man who saves the life of a rich female executive and, in return, is given control of her company.

Of course, that’s just the overview. There was plenty of other drama in the 2004 Argentine novela (like suicides, illegitimate babies, cheating, and false imprisonments) and we’re hopeful it all gets mixed in there too. Now if we could only convince those execs to make an English version of Juegos Prohibidos!

It’s hard to believe that Betty Suarez has been off of our TVs for five months now. But for hardcore fans, there’s always been a glimmer of hope that “Ugly Betty” will continue in theatres. Especially after what Ana Ortiz told People back in April. Now it looks like America Ferrera’s open to a big screen adaptation too!

When speaking with Entertainment Weekly, America said, “I’d never rule anything out. I think that the rumor is well and alive. It's always a possibility I suppose. But I don't know about any plans.”

Ok, so nothing DEFINITIVE, but nothing that would completely shut down the idea either. And c’mon, we KNOW how much America loves that character. You could see major tears in her eyes when she accepted her final Imagen Award for the role.

The question now is, would Ferrera have the time to do it? She’s already got a big wedding to plan, is hosting a new PBS documentary series, and might even pick up some Oscar heat for her work in “The Dry Land.” We’re keeping our fingers crossed and hoping we get to see those braces and thick glasses again…this time in IMAX 3D!

As much as we love the Oscars, we’d rather see an America Ferrera acceptance speech any day. And Imagen guests definitely got their fair share of her; America took home a record four awards for her work on the now canceled series, “Ugly Betty”.

Last Sunday (August 15), Ferrera received her final nod as Betty Suarez and was even brought to tears on the Imagen stage. "I'm going to try and not cry right now," she told the crowd, but it was definitely a challenge. The "Dry Land" executive producer certainly has a lot to be proud of! Cheers, chica!

America Ferrera

And don’t feel bad America, Team Blogamole has shed many tears over “Betty” getting the axe.

But otherwise, LA’s Imagen Awards was a joyous event. Organized over 25 years ago to celebrate the positive portrayal of Latinos in entertainment, it’s been known to bring out all of the heavy hitters in the Latin-American film and TV community. And this year was no exception.

Oscar Nunez from “The Office,” Edward James Olmos, Benjamin Bratt (who won for his work in the indie flick, “La Mission”) and producer Norman Lear were all in attendance.

Norman’s not Latino, but he was actually instrumental in launching Imagen and was honored for his work. “I am your community. You are my community.” he said. We think that pretty much sums up the spirit of the night!

Last night Team Blogamole watched the bittersweet "Ugly Betty" finale, but a certain @markindelicato tweet we stumbled upon made us squeal with delight — Yes, Betty's cute nephew Justin wants to be on "Glee"!

Mark Indelicato

"Ugly Betty" star Mark Indelicato was on Twitter last night, interacting with fans during the final episode. Just a day before, in the midst of touching farewells, he gushed about wanting to join New Directions:

"Missed Glee :(... I want to be on Glee SO BADLY. I don't think you guys understand... I'm gonna do that Myspace submission....I'm so serious."

Back in March, Indelicato revealed to Teen Vogue that he was interested in being on the show, so perhaps something is in the works! As fans of "Glee," Mark indelicato and better roles for Latinos, Team Blogamole thinks a guest spot or (gasp) more would be EPIC!

The stylish teen already celebrated his 16th birthday a few months early, but wouldn't it be a great birthday present to see him appear on "Glee" this summer?

Just like his character Justin, Mark is wise beyond his years. He comforted fans during the finale, sharing this message:

"Thank you for the kind words. I hope Ugly Betty has left you with only one message 'Love yourself.' If you can do that, you can do anything."

Can't get enough of Justin? Unfortunately he now only exists on the web and in syndication, but you can follow his blog, markindelicato.blogspot.com, where he writes about everything from fashion to his thoughts on the Grammys.

Tr3s Comunidad, would you like to see Mark Indelicato on "Glee"? If so, post #markonglee in the comments or @MTV3! Let's make it happen!

With the final hour of "Ugly Betty" airing tonight (April 14) at 10:01|9:01c on ABC, Team Blogamole says farewell with a heavy heart.

We take some consolation from the news that Ana Ortiz leaked to Latina that there may be an "Ugly Betty" movie in the works, but still — we're no good at goodbyes.

Beyond being the platform for America Ferrera to win her first Emmy for Outstanding Leading Actress in 2007, her character's struggles and transformation affected us all on many levels. You didn't have to be a poncho wearing college grad to "get" what it feels like to navigate a big city, chasing your dreams and moving up the ranks within an unpredictable work environment.

The show was amazing — not just because it averaged 11 million viewers each week for four years, but because of what Betty represented to many Latinas — a real young woman who was the closest prime time reflection of the Hispanic experience in, well, ever.

Betty, we will miss you. In the spirit of celebrating inspiring Latinas everywhere, here are Team Blogamole's favorite "Ugly Betty" moments:

Mode

Remember the first time Betty arrived at Mode? Amanda thought she was just a delivery girl, but that didn't stop Betty from believing she was an “attractive, intelligent and confident businesswoman."

Hot Mess

Oh my, how can we forget the time Betty attempted to eat ice cream off geeky Christopher Gorham? That was a hilarious hot mess.

Justin's big day

What about when Betty's bro Justin finally came out of the closet? After years of speculation, the truth was revealed in season 4. When Justin and Austin locked lips, audiences let out a collective cheer for the young Suarez.

Drama!

We have to admit, Betty's love triangle drama was a guilty pleasure. First there was Walter, then Mode accountant Henry, then sandwich man Gio. In the end, Betty went solo but it was so much fun to watch her awkward escapades.

Go to BuddyTV for even more great moments from "Ugly Betty."

Although America Ferrera fans have to say goodbye to 'Ugly Betty' on April 14 (check out these spoiler pics), they shouldn't fret; this talented actress is in no danger of being forgotten.

Ferrera was all smiles at the premiere of her new movie, 'Our Family Wedding,' in New York earlier this week. She had this to say to Entertainment Tonight:

"We knew an end would come one day, and it's a really nice feeling to feel like we're on top of our game creatively, going out with like a bang. "I'll miss my cast, but hopefully we'll still have time to see each other," she added. "Not seeing them on a daily basis -- they've become my family -- will probably be the hardest part."

'Our Family Wedding' arrives in theaters today! America plays a young bride confronting the reality of marriage and new family conflicts.

Ferrera supporters can also look forward to catching her in the DreamWorks Animation adventure, 'How To Train Your Dragon.'

It opens on March 26, 2010 and Ferrera is the voice behind Astrid, a teen Viking who is one tough chica to impress.

ABC's "Ugly Betty" is strutting off the primetime catwalk. The show will close its doors this May with a series finale, the network confirmed on Wednesday.  The decision to end the series was announced to "Ugly Betty's" cast and crew this morning.

The show still has four episodes left to produce this season -- and series exec producer Silvio Horta now plans to use that opportunity to tie up loose ends and wrap things up. Horta announced:

"We've mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty's final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion. We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell."

The decision to end "Ugly Betty's" run doesn't come as a huge surprise; the show narrowly avoided cancellation last year -- but was moved from its longtime Thursday home to a rough Friday night spot this fall. More recently, the show has joined ABC's hot Wednesday night lineup, appearing earlier this month in the 10 p.m. slot.  (Variety)

As 2009 comes to a close, todos estamos pensando el lo que ha sucedido este año: Barack Obama becoming the first African-American President of the U.S., Michael Jackson's untimely death, Justice Sonia Sotomayor becoming la primera latina in the Supreme Court, swine flu, y mucho más.

Pero el fin del 2009 also marks el fin de la decada.  Can you believe los '00s are over?  In come the teens!  So to commemorate this occasion, cuentanos: who or what defines los '00s to you?

Teen Culture

Once upon a time in 2000, the airwaves were invaded by the likes of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, 'NSync and The Backstreet Boys.  While Britney's all grown up and stealing the spotlight in other ways these days, the idolization of teen stars carried on throughout la decada.

Los 00s are also responsible for American Idol with such new young stars arising like Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, David Archuleta and most recently Adam Lambert.  And other teen music phenoms like the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez y Demi Lovato, and let's not forget Rihanna and Chris Brown, no se quedan atrás.  And really, would the whole Twilight phenomenon really exist without teen fever for RPatz, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart?  Who's your favorite teen icon from los 00s?

Latin Explosion!

Even more relevant para todos nosotros, was the "Latin Explosion" of los 00s.  Starting with the successful crossover careers of the likes of Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias y Shakira, los 00s brought Latinos to the forefront when it comes to la música popular americana.  Whether hearing Daddy Yankee in a soda commercial or Wisin y Yandel in a video game (and seeing both nominated for MTV Video Music Awards), there is no doubt that Latinos seriously broke through into mainstream pop culture during the 2000s.

With such collabos hitting the video and radio airwaves como Beyoncé y ShakiraWisin y Yandel con 50 Cent, Pitbull and Lloyd, Akon and Dulce María, y muchos más.  On the silver screen, actors like Salma Hayek, Benicio del Toro, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Eva Mendez, John Leguizamo and even Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Alba made waves para los Latinos.  Similarly on la tele, entertainers like George Lopez, Mario Lopez, Eva Longoria Parker, Wilmer Valderrama, America Ferrera and Ana Ortiz made us all un poquito más orgullosos de ser Latinos!

Cuéntanos, what defines los 00s for you?  Stay tuned to MTV Tr3s in January to catch nuestros especiales on Lo Mejor De Los 00's, y mientras tanto...

We wish you all un feliz y prospero año nuevo!  Que disfruten!
