The Spanish pop rocker Alejandro Sanz has been very vocal about promote peace entre la frontera de Colombia y Venezuela, even joining Juanes in the 2008 Paz Sin Fronteras concert. But he’s been equally as free with his opinions on current Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez.

For a couple of hours on August 9, Sanz took to Twitter to have a public dispute con los chavistas quienes no estan de acuerdo with Alejandro’s point of view on their president.

The dispute began when Sanz tweeted a post encouraging his followers to watch a documentary on CNN en Español:

“GUARDIANES DE HUGO CHAVEZ prohibido en Venezuela, Divulguenlo. A las 9 pm.”

This information was re-Tweeted by many of his followers. Within the hour, things started heating up with Chavez supporters, and Sanz did not back down.

Here’s a response he sent to an angry chavista who referred to Sanz as a fascist and racist:

“Fascista hugo chaves que manda a fuego y sangre. Y da cobijo a terroristas. en
venezuela se prohibe todo lo que no os gusta a los que mandais a los que estais al lado del dictador vedette. . Mirate el documental , si puedes. Y a ver que me dices. Y lo de racista de donde lo sacas tu pedazo de ignorante?.”

Uy uy uy! Como se enojó el cantante! Sanz was clearly annoyed, joking that the documentary
must be good since “los chavistas ya estan insultando. Je je.. Todo el mundo a verlo.” He
defended his right to his own opinion, and even mocked some of the responses that insulted
him. To one tweet that called his involvement in political affairs pathetic, Sanz replied, “tu
puedes decir lo que quieras y yo no. Eso si es patetico.”

The Twitter-war continuó por un par de horas más, and Sanz tried to diffuse the cyber-uproar a bit by making this request:

“A ver. Que os parece si cada uno dice lo que piensa sin insultar?.
Hacemos el esfuerzo tod@s?. Chavistas y antichavistas?. Si o que?”

He made a few more requests that his opponents communicate without insult, but as long as he was engaged in the debate, Sanz was clear about his negative opinion of Chavez.

He finally stopped re-tweeting and replying to the insults about 3 hours from the start of the
Twitter pelea, mandandole un mensaje de amor y paz a sus fans. A couple of hours later, he
put the final touch on the subject by re-tweeting his friend Juanes, who had thanked Colombian president Santos as well as Chavez for agreeing to have a peaceful dialogue about their differences.

It seems like Sanz has been spending a lot of time with his rebellious friend Residente of Calle 13!

What’s your take on all this? Should Sanz have engaged in a public spat over this political dispute? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3!

All it took were a few short snippets, but “Dynamite” singer Taio Cruz definitely got his point across with his latest batch of Tweets. What exactly was he venting about? The term “urban” to describe his music. It was all part of Twitter’s #CallItWhatItIs hashtag and definitely makes some positive sense.

As Taio put it, “What does ‘Urban’ really mean? I’m thinking ‘urban’ is politically correct speak for ‘Black’ – Highly annoying! I’d prefer it if people just had the guts to say black!” He went on to Tweet, “If only people would class u by your creations & not on skin color. This goes for everyone! I’m sure some people are already offended but they can kiss my buttcheeks!”

Taio Cruz

Nice way to hammer it home, Taio. And to be honest, we’ll have to agree with you on this one. We too often hear that term to describe things like an “urban” market or an “urban” vibe. What does that really mean? Is it a PC way of classifying race, socioeconomic status, or what?

By calling a type of people “urban” it seems like you’re basically saying they’re from the streets, right? Dictionary.com defines the word to mean: "Pertaining to, or designating a city or town." So “urban” music is “city or town” music? We’re not buying that.

Record companies, if you feel the need to classify music by a certain race (which we think is totally wrong) at least have the guts to be up front about it.

Funkmaster Flex has gone too far. When the NY radio personality weighed in on Christina Milian's recent split from The-Dream, his words were well, opinionated:

"Christina Milian is Finished out here....Dream just wrapped you up...."

How Rude!

Christina Milian

This obviously didn't sit well with Ms. Milian, who fired back at Flex via Twitter:

"@funkmasterflex when will u just leave me alone and get a life? I swear all uve ever done is pick on me. What's ur problem dude? Go away."

Sensing trouble, Flex responded to C-Mili in a much more appropriate tone:

"@CMilianOfficial.i was jokin. i will give you a break. wasnt personal.ps i dont agree with what the dream did. love to your little one."

Christina then thanked the DJ for his apology:

"@funkmasterflex thank you"

Probably the shortest Tweet ever, and for good reason; although Flex's apology seems sincere, it should be noted that his playful insults were premeditated.

Last winter, Flex warned Milian about airing her out when her marriage with Dream ended:

"Christina millian has played herself as well.. When dreamkicks her to the curb... I'm going to seek and detroy.," Flex wrote. "What about rkelly dropping that brick album.. "Mr touchy feely" crazy that this is allowed...Russel made kamora.. Then you get with a corn ball n*gga and pop out a kid like its groovy... Aint sh*t groovy. I peeped it!!! It was wack"

Funkmaster Flex is a regular Chatty Kathy! We wonder how he would like it if other celebs weighed in on his love life?

Do you think C-Mili should have let Flex off the hook that easy? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.

It's had to believe, but it's been a year since the King of Pop passed too soon. In honor of the anniversary of his death, fans and celebs alike have been tweeting what Michael Jackson's profound influence on music meant to them.

Michael Jackson

AlejandroSanz Hoy un recuerdo para el grande Michel jackson.. No te olvidamos.
justinbieber 1 year ago 2day we lost the greatest entertainer that was and will ever be...Michael Jackson...he will be missed but never forgotten. RIP MJ

iamdiddy Can't believe its been a year without the legend... He lives on forever in our hearts + spirit!! RIP MICHAEL!!!
rickyrozay rip mj...greatest of all time!!

Parties dedicated in MJ's honor took place nationwide all weekend, with the ultimate tribute taking place at last night's BET Awards where Chris Brown, decked out in MJ gear and mimicking Jackson's choreography to hits like "Billie Jean" and "Remember the Time", visibly broke down while performing Jackson's "Man in the Mirror."

Of course fans, who haven't seen much of Brown since the singer plead guilty last summer for physically assaulting then girlfriend Rihanna, wondered if Brown's breakdown was genuine, however its plain to see that Chris was the perfect performer for the job, publicity stunt or not.

One year later, it seems the King of Pop is still forever in our musical hearts.

If you’ve got 2 million people clinging to your every thought, let's face it — you are a celebrity. If there was any doubt before, it looks like pop star and actress Demi Lovato is famous on the Internets. Joining the ranks of BFF Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga (who has over 4 million followers!), and Justin Bieber, she’s now part of their exclusive Twitter club, proving to the world that she’s got some hardcore star power.

Have you ever actually fathomed how large the number 2,000,000 really is? Believe it or not, that number is more than the entire state populations of Hawaii and West Virginia!

Demi Lovato

So, what do you get when you follow Demi? Cool Twitpics, convos with other celebs, and legitimate insights from the lady herself:

“OMG 2,000,000 FOLLOWERS?!?!! I JUST SAW THIS!!! I LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!! :D BEST way to start my day!!!!”

From the fun-loving attitude of these Tweets, we can see why it's so much fun to be a fan. And it’s got to be a pretty sweet victory, seeing how her ex Joe Jonas is stuck at a mere 715,000.

Perhaps Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez Frias should have his 200 ghost tweeters take some notes from Demi. He's only at a mere 4,000 followers!

President Barack Obama isn't the only one wishing to "kick someone's ass" about the historical BP oil spill on the Gulf Coast. Jessica Alba also sounded off about the leak that has endangered animals and coastal businesses after an estimated 47 million gallons of oil blasted into the coastal waters.

Jessica Alba

"The Killer Inside Me" actress recently posted via Twitter:

"So BP denies that thr R underwater plumes. wht do U think? regardless ths is the by far 1 of most devastating man made disasters. Terrible."

Alba isn't the only celeb voicing her opinion on the dilemma. Kevin Costner actually came up with his own oil spill separator invention! No joke. The actor spoke star spoke in front of the House Subcommittee on Environment about the tool he developed for $20 million of his own money! Now that's making a difference!

According to the New York Times, BP has tentatively agreed to pay $20 billion for victims of the spill, and that doesn't include more billions that will be spent on clean up costs.

Single guys and gals, commence jumping for delusional joy! Heartthrob Joe Jonas and Disney starlet Demi Lovato have officially broken up. News broke yesterday (May 24), with rumors circulating that Joe broke up with Demi on the phone. Harsh!

Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato

Today (May 25), Demi took to Twitter to set the record straight:

“There are so many crazy rumors flying around today. I'd like to clear a few things up. First, Joe and I did split but it wasn't over the phone. Things didn't work out but we'll remain friends. Secondly, I am NOT dating anybody already. Nothing is more important to me than the relationship I have with my fans..Just thought you guys should know this.”

Shortly after Demi spoke her piece, Joe released his own statement:

“Demi and I knew going into our romantic relationship that it may not be an easy one. I realize over the time we have shared together that I feel I care more about our friendship right now. It was my choice to breakup but I love her as a friend. She's been there for me when I needed her. I will continue to be her friend and be there for her.”

At least they are both being mature about this! Joe has obviously learned from his previous relationship; back in November 2008, Jonas' ex Taylor Swift admitted he dumped her during a "27 second" phone call.

Unfortunately, Jemi's break up couldn’t have come at a more awkward time; the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato are about to embark on their “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” world tour.

That sounds like tons of fun, being stuck on a bus with your ex boo and his brothers.

Don't worry Demi, MTV News has got your back: check out their awesome breakup metal playlist they made for you. Rage more!
