No wonder Juanes’ new video for “Y No Regresas” takes place late at night. If he was shooting during the day in downtown Los Angeles, there’s no way he wouldn’t have been swarmed by eager fans.
Image : Getty Images
Obviously that’s a far stretch from what this video’s about. Walking alone through the city streets, Juanes appears to be following darkness and neon lights as he sings his soulful tune. Interestingly you can see some very subtle CGI tricks with his shadow as he passes through the tunnels and storefronts.
Shot by American director, Lex Halaby (who worked on videos for Hoobastank, Offspring, and helped helm Snakes On A Plane), the vibe is actually rather subtle. And we think that works perfectly. Usually when a video is too over the top, it can distract you from the music and with a song as good as “Y No Regresas,” that is not what you want to do.
Juanes is obviously very proud of how the shoot turned out, hitting up fans on Twitter about the big premiere,
“este proximo miercoles es el lanzamiento del video de "Y no Regresas" , y seguimos el camino familia!! #fb”
Of course, we’ll have to wait until his album drops before we can compare “Y No Regresas” to the other new songs he’s got in store.

You wouldn’t think that comedy and skateboarding go hand-in-hand, but in the Rodriguez family they’re very closely aligned. Paul Rodriguez definitely passed down some talented genes to his son, they just got channeled to the skate park instead of the standup stage.
Image: Markisa
In a candid interview with Fox News Latino, both of them spoke about Paul Jr.’s (aka P-Rod) journey to skateboarding stardom. Interestingly, Paul Sr. first envisioned his son to be the next Tiger Woods, buying him a set of fancy clubs at an early age. Obviously that wasn’t in the cards for P-Rod.
“When he came out of summer school…I said to him, ‘Where are your golf clubs?’” Paul Sr. said. “He said, ‘No, golf is too ugly. I prefer you give me a skateboard.'”
The rest, as they say, is history. Paul Jr. admitted that at first it wasn’t easy convincing his dad that he wanted to devote his life to skateboarding.
“Early on, when I told him this is what I wanted to become, he did not support me. He just did not believe me…didn’t believe skateboarding was something you could do with your life and live off of. I started showing that this was something you could make a living off of and do. So he was just like, ‘Okay, son.’”
Now Paul Sr. couldn’t be more proud. From the start, he began keeping all of P-Rod’s trophies, magazine covers, and signature boards in his house. And that was only the beginning. Eventually Paul Jr. became the first Latino to be endorsed by a major shoe company (Nike) and even opened his own skate park in Pacoima, CA.
As Paul Sr. put it, “Not only am I so proud as a dad, but it makes me prouder as a Hispanic because, as you can see, he is a good example in these days when we need positive role model for the Hispanic youth."
Don’t worry Paul, we’re very proud of you too. Especially the hilarious work you’ve been doing on our Mis Videos Locos show. Well worth checking out…Hint, Hint.

After an intense summer battle, the public has spoken and chosen Alex Camacho as their Dame Un Break superstar. And you KNOW if he beat out hundreds of applicants (and the other four super-talented finalists), he’s got to be good! Now you’ll get to see for yourself since his “Dame Dame Dame” video premiered exclusively on Tr3s this Wednesday (October 13)!
By all accounts, the Dame Un Break competition was a huge success. Thousands of fans chimed in on their favorite rising estrellas, the Facebook Fan page was overflowing with positive feedback, and it looks like we are really in the process of creating a new music sensation.
New York’s Alex Camacho has a voice destined for stardom. He’s been cutting his singing chops for 25 years and has a unique ability to mix thumping reggaeton rhythms with smooth Latin pop. Best of all, he’s completely humbled by the experience and couldn’t be more gracious to all of the voters who put him over the top.
Spreaking to Team Blogamole, he said,
“Uno de los mejores premios que puede recibir un artista es que reconozcan su talento
y ser el ganador de Dame un Break me ha dado la satisfaccion de recibir es reconocimiento. Por lo tanto me siento super contento y mas que feliz de haber vivido esta experiencia.”
Alex cites Don Omar, Daddy Yankee, and Wisin Y Yandel as major influences on his particular style. And it sounds like he’s incorporating a bit of their showmanship into his “Dame Dame Dame” video. Set in a nightclub and full of fast-paced energy, it’s a great kickoff track and guaranteed to stir up attention.
It’s obvious Alex expects to be in the music game for a long time and even shared a bit about his five-year plan.
“Siempre trato de ser optimista en todo lo que me propongo por lo tanto de aqui a 5 años me veo como un artista mas profesional con mas experiencia, con un disco producido por alguna disquera y sobre todo disfrutando del cariño de mi publico.”
Be sure to check Alex Camacho out on Facebook for all kinds of updates and see for yourself why he’s more than ready for his big Break, with the world premiere of “Dame Dame Dame!”

It’s hard to believe that Mexican rockers Zoé have been around for 14 years and are only now making their “Unplugged” debut. Since they first formed back in the ‘90s, León, Sergio, Alberto, Ángel, and Jesus have performed in front of thousands of fans, sold millions of records, and won tons of awards.
Image: www.zoetheband.com
One of the keys to the band’s success has been their melding of so many unique musical styles. Part Brit-pop, part psychedelic, part indie rock, Zoé’s songs are heavily treasured by their ardent fanbase. The only issue is, why don’t they put out more?! Since their debut release back in 2002, Zoé has only issued three new studio albums.
That’s why fans are so excited about not only an “Unplugged” album with reworked classics, but new original songs added on as well! Recorded this Tuesday (October 5) in Mexico City, the performance is set to air sometime in early 2011. When speaking about the experience, singer León Larregui stated,
“Este unplugged es un reconocimiento a los fans y a toda la gente que nos ha apoyado a lo largo de toda nuestra carrera. Hemos tratado de llegar con cada versión a un punto que nos permita redescubrir éstas canciones y que al mismo tiempo nos llene de buenos recuerdos. Finalamente lo importante es darnos cuenta que estamos más conectados que nunca.”
Basically, this one’s for the fans! And you can bet A LOT will be listening. Though a full track list hasn’t been made “official” yet, we’re imagining acoustic renditions of “Paula”, “Reptilectric” and “Veneno” will all make it onto the album.

Sonia, an undocumented student attending NYC's Hunter College, sat in the back of a room at the New York Times building on the night of September 7 and listened to a politically and culturally diverse panel discuss a subject that impacts her life every day: immigration. Tr3s and Blogamole were there for a screening of the documentary film 9500 Liberty, in which filmmakers Annabel Park and Eric Byler were able the capture what can happen when words instill fear in a small community and political ambition leads to controversial policies. You can catch 9500 Liberty premiering simultaneously on Tr3s, MTVU, and MTV2 on September 26 at 8 PM.
Co-sponsored by VOCES and MTV Networks, a forum discussion about 9500 Liberty and the topic of immigration took place after viewing the film. Contribuyendo al tema were actor/comedian Paul Rodriguez, ABC News Primetime anchor John Quiñones, Executive Director of the Police Executive Research Forum, Chuck Wexler, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Voto Latino, Maria Teresa Kumar, Chairman of Prince William Board of County Supervisors in Virginia, Corey Stewart, and director/producer of the film Annabel Park. The discussion was moderated by NY Times reportera Fernanda Santos, who ensured that everyone had a fair chance to voice their opinions both on the immigration issue and 9500 Liberty.

Y como surgió la película? Fué curiosidad lo que motivó la pareja when Park and Byler first started documenting the tensions that were evolving in Prince William County, Virginia in 2007. There was a growing fear and divisiveness taking place in Byler’s hometown that was being used as a political tool to get local county chairmen like Corey Stewart re-elected into office. The filmmakers began recording the growing debate and posting videos on YouTube, which brought nationwide attention to this federal issue being handled at a local level.

Time for another Chisme Alert! It looks like the rumors of Belinda and Camila’s Mario Domm have gotten so serious that the Spanish pop princess had to go on Twitter to defend herself. According to both camps, they are indeed collaborating together…but is it for a song or something more?
“Belinda – Mario Domm Amigos: Gracias por su interes en saber sobre Mario y yo, no podemos contestar preguntas que no tienen respuesta aun.”
Belinda’s response was actually so long, she had to use the TwitLonger app to get her point across. And what was that point exactly? Basically, one big No Comment! Interestingly enough, Mario issued the same statement from his Twitter account.
Team Blogamole has been following Belinda’s romantic ups and downs for years now, and we would actually be pretty stoked to see a love connection between her and Mario. His band, Camila, is on brink of superstardom with their gushing ballads and sensitive love songs (you can watch their full Unplugged online here, and don't miss the show on-air when it premieres on September 15th at 7pm EST!). Imagine the Latino power couple potential here?
Even though it would be great to see these two snapped up at premieres and on vacations, the musical combinations would be where us fans would benefit most. Imagine the heartfelt ballads she could inspire for Camila? Or the depth that Mario’s lyrics could bring to a new Belinda single? Yes we’ll accept you as ‘friends’ for now, but we’re eagerly anticipating that first XOXO blurb from the Twitterverse.

Just because you live in Miami, doesn’t’ mean you can’t enjoy the glitz and glam of Hollywood. Just ask Karina, who happens to be a major fan of classic movie icons like Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. When it came time to plan her Quinceanera, guess what theme she was going for?
(Click for more photos from Karina's Quinces!)
With a little help from her parents and older sisters, Karina’s set on creating a birthday celebration full of top hats, red carpets, and paparazzi cameras. But as we know with all “Quiero Mis Quinces” episodes, it’s easier said than done. Before she becomes the star attraction, Karina’s going to have to put in A LOT of “pre-production” work.
Luckily she comes from a tight-knit Cuban family, so everyone (including abuelita) is getting a task to help carry out Karina's dream quinces. Mom’s helping pick the ballroom, her BFFs are helping pick the movie posters, and older sis is getting the keys to her rich boss’s classic car.
Will it all come together? There are a few glitches (which we won’t spoil here), but the big day arrives and the birthday girl’s in high spirits. Karina’s got a gorgeous white dress, her Dad lifted the boyfriend ban, and she even hit her perfect “Quinces” weight.
But none of that compares to the excitement of the party itself. Stepping out of a gorgeous classic car, having her court dressed in tuxes and glamorous dresses, and choreographing a perfect Hollywood dance routine drove the crowd wild! It’s obvious that Karina was born to be a star and we expect to see big things from her in the years ahead (are you listening Robert Rodriguez?).
Watch the FULL EPISODE below!
