This weekend, Genesis Rodriguez proved she could go toe-to-toe with comedy great Will Ferrell in Casa de mi Padre. And prior to that, she was facing off with rising star Jamie Bell in Man On A Ledge.
But, as she told us, that’s only the beginning of what’s to come. In the next few months, Rodriguez will be appearing in movies with Jennifer Lopez and Arnold Schwarzenegger!
"I'm so happy to be doing what I'm doing," she said. "All of these films that I'm making are so amazing! This entire experience has been great."
Great and fast-paced it seems. At just 24-years-old, Genesis is on the brink of superstardom. And she's very hopeful that Casa will show the world that she's quite the comedienne too.
"Doing comedy is so much fun," she explained. "Especially working with Will. His talent transcends any language. I hope Latinos support him because he's taking a very big risk."
Indeed Ferrell showed a very different side of himself in Casa. His "Mexican" character, Armando Alvarez, speaks only Spanish throughout the film, which seemed to really impress Rodriguez.
"No other mainstream comedy has taken this big of a risk," she said. "Will, Gael [Garcia Bernal], and Diego [Luna] are such big characters in this movie. My hope was with my performance, I could kind of ground them."
These days, it certainly seems like Genesis is good at balancing out A-list actors. And her upcoming project, The Last Stand, is no different. The action drama stars the former "Governator" in his first leading role since leaving office.
"We haven't seen Arnold on screen since he was The Governator," she said. "But he can be quite vulnerable and you'll see it in The Last Stand. In this movie, he's kind of like the old sheriff passing down the torch."
Rodriguez is also part of the cast of this summer's What To Expect When You’re Expecting. Almost like a baby-centric version of New Year’s Eve, it's got JLo, Cameron Diaz, and Chris Rock in leading roles.
"In What To Expect, I have a supporting part in Anna Kendrick's storyline," Genesis told us. "There's little stories within the story and they all tie in together. It's a light and funny film and something I really wanted to be a part of."
But right now, Rodriguez' excitement is centered on Casa. Genesis seems genuinely thrilled with the positive press that the movie has been receiving.
"It’s pretty crazy. I've been dreaming about this kind of success for so long," she said. "And for it to be happening now, I feel like I'm floating on air."
You can see Rodriguez in Casa now, What To Expect... in June, and The Last Stand in 2013.

There is no denying that Luis Guzman has one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood. And now, fans are going to get the chance to see it in 3D! That’s right, Luis is entering the third dimension for his new movie Journey 2 and he spoke to us exclusively about the experience.
"I'm feeling really good about this movie," he said. "Journey is good family entertainment. It's fun, visually it looks great, and I'm actually pretty funny in it."
Taking a comic turn, Guzman plays Gabato in the movie, an over-the-top helicopter pilot who winds up crashing on a mysterious island. He's also a proud parent in the film, to none other than Vanessa Hudgens.
"Yea, I play Vanessa's father in the movie," he went on to say. "I know it's kind of funny because we look nothing like each other. But we get along great on screen. She was a lot of fun to work with too."
Luis also shares some scenes with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who he had plenty of praise for. But if you were to ask him about his favorite part of the Journey experience, it would definitely be the locales.
"We shot the movie in Hawaii and it was absolutely beautiful," he added. "Talk about an island paradise! I would go back and shoot another movie there any time they ask me."
Guzman went on to say how his next shooting location is a far cry from the tropical beaches. He's currently wrapping up the border town action flick The Last Stand with Arnold Schwarzenegger, which he seems to be very excited about.
"I've got The Last Stand coming up with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Rodrigo Santoro," he told us. "It's going to be a BIG action movie. I'm one of the good guys this time, playing a border cop trying to stop an army of bad dudes."
And as if Luis' plate wasn’t full enough, he also took time this week to make a special "journey" to his old New York neighborhood. Guzman paid a visit to the Henry Street Settlement, where he was once a social worker, and dropped off a bunch of Journey-related goodies for the local kids.

It's hard to believe that the Governator is coming back to the big screen after a seven-year hiatus. But according to Latino Review, Arnold Schwarzenegger is planning a comeback movie called The Last Stand and he may be recruiting Rodrigo Santoro to join in.
Rodrigo is actually riding high with his film career at the moment. The Brazilian actor recently voiced Tulio in the smash hit Rio and had a pivotal part in the acclaimed drama There Be Dragons. He was was the Xerxes of 300.
For The Last Stand, Santoro would take on the role of Frank Martinez, a Mexican rookie cop battling drug lords south of the border. Arnold would presumably be playing a small-town sheriff who makes it his mission to bring down the vicious gang.
By the sounds of things, The Last Stand is right up Schwarzenegger's action movie alley. But at 64-years-old, can he still deliver big box office results? For his sake, let's hope so. Because, as we all know, Arnold now has quite a bit of alimony and child support payments to cough up.
