Hilarious transvestite comedian Eddie Izzard will be starring in Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. The SyFy channel will feature the cross dressing Brit comic in the character of Long John Silver.
The four-hour mini-series features other greats as Elijah Wood and Donald Sutherland, and airs all in one night. The epic film consists of a young Jim Hawkins, played by Toby Regbo, who has a map pointing to buried treasure.
He heads over to the West Indies, only to find that the ship crew is filled with traitors and buccaneers who will stop at nothing to get to the gold first. Izzard plays the ship's cook, Long John Silver, head of the buccaneers.
Izzard compares his role to the mobster-types of Goodfellas more than the classic pirates of Treasure Island, as he feels Hollywood has "softened and romanticized" pirates. Izzard states, "I went on the Pirates of the Caribbean [theme park ride] and had a very good time! The truth is pirates were drunken, murderous bastards who didn't give a f*** about anyone but themselves and would not hesitate to rip you up. They were extremely well organized, like mafia gangs."
To Eddie, this gig is a fantasy come true. He loves the dramatic character as much as the next comic, and had this to say about starring in the film, "Being in great big sprawling dramas is all I've ever wanted to do since I was 7! It was a wonderful honor to be offered the part, especially for someone who is known for comedy. I've had to push for good, serious roles since I was in school. Finally it's working out for me. I guess I have the fine-wine approach to show business."
Apparently, playing the role wasn't all fun and games. Izzard got stuck in the physically challenging conditions on the set, from the extreme freezing temperatures of Dublin to the exasperating heat in Puerto Rico. He said, "It was bloody hard, but I kept battering through. And, thanks to a good osteopath, I survived."
What is your favorite Eddie Izzard role?

Admit it. You're a sucker for classic reruns just like the rest of us. Whether it's I Love Lucy on Nick At Nite or The George Lopez Show here on Tr3s, who can resist re-watching the shows you grew up on over and over again? The TV Land network chose to capitalize on that notion by creating their own awards show which honored the greatest casts of yesteryear.
Kelly Ripa took on hosting duties for the event (which aired last night) and made sure to work her way into the night's comedic festivities. When introducing the reunited cast of In Living Color, Ripa popped in alongside the famous Fly Girls, dancing to a few 90's jams.
Indeed, the In Living Color segment probably brought on the biggest applause thanks to some very notable appearances. Jim Carrey (who was a cast member throughout the entire four-year run) received huge cheers when he took the stage, as did the Wayans brothers Marlon and Shawn.
Creator Keenan Ivory Wayans was also in attendance and thanked the fans for their continued support of the show.
"This is truly an honor to accept this award," he told the audience, "And an even greater honor to be back together with all these talented people. We were just a bunch of young kids who had an opportunity to be funny. There was no great intention behind it other than to come to work every day and have fun and give what we had to an audience who had never seen what we had before."
Of course, one other famous ILC cast member proved to be a no-show. But there is a possibility that she'll pop back in when the series gets its Fox reboot later this year.
Pee Wee Herman made a memorable appearance too, accepting a Pop Culture Award for his classic children's series Pee Wee’s Playhouse. Mike Myers introduced the bow-tied icon, who seemed genuinely touched when he took the stage.
Fans of 70's sitcoms got a big treat as well, with the reunited casts of Laverne & Shirley and One Day At A Time receiving honors. Katie Couric presented the L&S crew with the Fan Favorite Award, which star Cindy Williams felt deeply honored by.
"Penny [Marshall] and I had no idea how popular the show was," she said from the stage. "We had a lot of laughs and a really good time."
Sadly, the Fonz didn't make an appearance during the Laverne tribute and the Latino presence was far and few between. Hopefully next year, Kelly and company will spread the love to a few Hispanic TV icons from decades past.

Venezuelan beauty Dayana Mendoza was fired from Celebrity Apprentice, after taking charge as project manager for Team Forte this week. Despite being the contestant who has been brought back to the boardroom the most times, six times, to be exact, the beauty queen still had to hear the words: "You're fired!"
Mendoza's team lost to Arsenio Hall's team, Team Unanimous, this week. Dayana seemed to have a rough week, between Clay Aiken taking over her project and Lisa Lampanelli's verbal abuse. She lost her cool in the last episode as stormed out of the boardroom after a diva-like tantrum.
Things didn't look to great for Mendoza after Clay and Lisa's antagonism. She seemed to be aggravating her teammates, despite her efforts to bring the team to victory. Aiken and Lampanelli had no problem throwing Mendoza under the proverbial bus, when Donald Trump agreed and sent her on her way.
Do you agree Dayana should have been fired this week?

50 Shades Of Grey is becoming a favorite amongst the book clubs, and Kendra Wilkinson is looking to get in on some of that popularity. The former playmate compared her new docu-soap, Kendra On Top, to the best selling novel.
Even though she hasn't yet picked up the book, the reality television star said,
"WE TV represents women and empowering women, and I am so very happy to be a part of all that because I feel like it is time. I'm a woman now and it's time to break out of that shell and have fun and show everyone that it is okay to be a working mom and a wife and still step out of bed and be hot. It's like the book 50 Shades Of Grey, I think my show has a similar theme to that."
Careful Kendra. Do you have any clue what that book is about? Spoiler alert, if you don't stop comparing yourself to 50 Shades, you're looking to get a whole demographic of people thinking Kendra On Top is way more risque than what it probably really is.
If Kendra is looking to empower women, she may want to start by reading whatever it is she is making a reference to. Or at least know what she is talking about in the first place. When asked about her peculiar references to the book when addressing her show, Kendra was a bit hard-pressed for anything to compare.
Wilkinson said,
"To be honest, I have not read it. But I get the idea of it. This is what WE tv says to me: '50 Shades Of Grey that's what we are to women, we are empowering.' And I said, 'Cool, me too!'"
Oh boy. Okay, clearly not one of the greatest responses, but hey, what can you expect? Other inspiring feminist projects Kendra has participated in include her roles in Girls Next Door, Kendra, and Dancing With The Stars, before pursuing her current empowering series, Kendra On Top.
Kendra promises a more real side of herself will be revealed in this show, since she will finally be settling down more. She explained,
"This season we're stepping it up. More characters on the show, and I have a lot more friends involved. We're settled in LA now; we're not all over the country, so we are sharing who Kendra truly is now. I do have sides people have never seen before."
What book would you most like to read but haven't gotten around to?

Earlier this month, we told you how Thalía was planning to return to her telenovela roots. And if the latest stories are true, she'll be coming back in a major way; with William Levy by her side!
According to Latin Gossip, Thalía is courting William for her new Spanish soap. Though given the crossover success he's currently experiencing on Dancing With The Stars, he'll certainly need a hefty proposition.
But the idea of him sharing the screen with Thalía is not entirely improbable. There is no doubt that her new series will score huge ratings (she hasn't acted on TV since 1999) and it could certainly continue Levy's momentum.
With or without William, we're sure Thalía's show will carry on fine. But there's nothing wrong with at least attempting to assemble a dream cast. Heck, while she's at it, maybe Thalía can go after a few more famous Latinos who started in the world of novelas.
Do you think Thalía and William would make a good onscreen couple? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.

You'll be Keeping Up With The Kardashians for three more years. E!'s first family will be renewing their reality show for another three seasons of Kim, Khloe, Kris, Kourtney, Kendall, and Kylie, along with the boys too, of course.
The Kardashian clan will be paid $40 million dollars for their 3 season deal, the richest contract in the history of reality television history. Despite previous efforts from the masses to stop this family from taking over the airwaves, the show will go on. No matter how many petitions are signed or how much you call the show a spectacle, you can't keep the Kardashians down.
You can blame the E! network for turning the Kardashians into such a lucrative enterprise. Their spinoff series seem to multiply and grow like some outer space blob, consuming more and more airtime on the cable network. It seems like there is always a Khloe and Lamar back-to-back marathon on E! daytime TV, or a Kourtney And Kim Take New York episode about to begin.
No matter how many haters hate, it seems like the Kardashians will always be popping out a new episode or coming up with a new show. People may complain about their over-exposure, but you know you're secretly tuning in at night, pausing to watch a clip of the show while channel-surfing for better, non-existent options. I wonder if Obama's daughters are allowed to watch the Kardashians yet. You know it's only a matter of time.
There is no mention yet of whether Kanye will be included in the show. He has been spending a lot of time with Kim lately, so don't be surprised if that's next on their empire-building agenda. Kim And Kanye. Can't say it doesn't have a nice ring to it.
Are you sick of the Kardashians, or do you think they should get more airtime on TV?

If you thought Hulu was just for 30 Rock and Family Guy reruns, think again. The online TV service is now branching out with original shows, including one created by Adrian Grenier.
The part-Spanish Entourage star is building an ongoing series based on his Don’t Quit Your Daydream documentary. Similar to the movie, the Daydream series will follow famous musicians looking for “average joe” collaborators to help them with songs.
But don’t think the Hulu premieres stop there. The site is also creating new material from Saturday Night Live star Seth Meyers and Super Size Me mastermind Morgan Spurlock.
Look for the new programming to arrive later this year. And let’s not forget, the service is offering a ton of classic Spanish material too.

Dawson's Creek co-star Michelle Williams is totally stoked at the idea of a 10 year show reunion and possibly filming an anniversary special with the rest of the group.
As soon as Michelle heard that James Van Der Beek, who plays Dawson on the hit show, wanted to revive the show, she was very excited. Michelle said,
"He has my email! He has my home phone and my cell phone, so we talk."
Does anyone else plan to join Dawson and Jen for the reunion? Looks like Joey might be coming to the party as well. Katie Holmes, who plays Joey Potter on the show, said,
"It would be fun. I had so much fun working on that show and I loved everyone so much and I think about it with such fond memories."
Williams has done several movies since starring in the Creek, and now lives in Brooklyn with Matilda, her six year old daughter with the late Heath Ledger. Van Der Beek is co-starring in the new ABC show, Don't Trust The B**** In Apt 23, as himself.
Would you like to see a Dawson's Creek 10 year reunion show?

American Idol fans can expect to see Ryan Seacrest's familiar smile on their television sets for another couple of seasons. The Idol host renewed his contract with the show for two more years.
Seacrest has been a host on American Idol since the series debut back in 2002. Mike Darnell, Fox executive, commented on Seacrest's hosting talents,
"Ryan is one of a kind. His ability to engage the viewers, keep the contestants at ease during intense moments and adapt to any situation, especially during the live shows, solidifies him as the absolute best in the business. He is an integral part of why American Idol is a true phenomenon, and we can't imagine doing this show without him."
Cecile Frot-Coutaz, from FremantleMedia, also had admirable things to say about Ryan. She said,
"I am thrilled that Ryan will continue to be the face of Americal Idol. He runs the show with such expertise, warmth, and charm that he makes one of the hardest jobs in television look easy. He is one of the best in the business and we are lucky to have him."
Seacrest is happy to stay on board the American Idol family. He stated,
"For the last 11 seasons, I've had the privilege to be a part of one of television's most iconic shows. It's been a wild ride, and I'm excited for my journey with American Idol to continue. The legions of fans, amazingly talented contestants, judges, and producers, along with the hard working Idol crew, impress me every time we go on air and make hosting the show a dream job. I especially appreciate the support of everyone at FremantleMedia North America- and I look forward to continuing our partnership."
Ryan Seacrest has really become a household name. I couldn't imagine American Idol without him.
Are you glad to see Seacrest return to host two more years of American Idol?

Blake Shelton thinks Adam Levine is far from winning on The Voice this year because his coaching skills are a bit lacking. Blake commented on how Adam might have won last year, but this year, his coaching skills are headed downhill, all because of his ego.
Shelton confessed,
"Adam's winning just because he can say he won last year. I'm not saying that I am going to win this year, but I don't think that Adam is going to win this year. Now he's inside of his own, he thinks he knows it all, all of a sudden because he won last year, he's making really bad, really bad decisions for his team. I want to go on record saying I think Adam is making really bad coaching decisions."
The Maroon 5 frontman might not be as favorable to Shelton as co-stars Christina Aguilera or Cee Lo Green, but there's no need to attack the man's ego. Maybe he's just making really bad coaching decisions and there's nothing wrong with his ego. Nevertheless, Blake thinks Adam's coaching skills are failing him, and overconfidence from winning might have something to do with it.
Do you think Blake was too harsh on Adam's ego?
