For the regular horror film fan, the problem with the Twilight saga story is that the premise is outrageous, but once you get over the whole team wolf-team vampire thing the series have been getting more interesting with each passing episode.
Not only that, the movies have evolved accordingly and the addition of director Bill Condon helped to make this latest install, Breaking Dawn Part I, the best by far in the series. Condon not only is the acclaimed director of hits like Chicago and Dreamgirls, he was also involved in a whole bunch of horror films either as writer or director or both, so he's got a good hand for monsters, even for cheesy ones.
At this point in the Twilight story, Bella Swam, (Kristen Stewart) and her vampire beau Edward (Robert Pattinson) get married, go on honeymoon, have their thing going and suddenly something happens (I won’t say what to avoid spoiling it for the those who haven’t read the books…) and all hell breaks loose. Oh, and way before any of that happens, Taylor Lautner loses his shirt. Actually it happens within 15 minutes of film.
One of the things Breaking Dawn has in its favor is the fact that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are very good actors, and on top of that, they have played the same parts four times now, so they look very comfortable like Bella and Edward. Lautner still struggles but I must say in his defense that he's got some of the worst possible lines ever and the fact that his character is supposed to be filled with barely suppressed rage all the time does not help. Anyway, at least he's better than in Abduction….and his abs are still impressive.
The other good thing in the film is Michael Sheen as Aro, the leader of the powerful Volturi coven. Why such a great theater and film performer as Sheen makes these monster movies (he plays Lucien, the chief of the Lycans in the Underworld Saga) is a mystery. It could be the money, but my personal opinion he just likes vampire movies and I'm thankful for that, because every time he appears, Breaking Dawn improves immediately. The man has a great stage presence for someone so short and the kind of penetrating glance you might expect in a vampire lord.
On the other hand, despite great landscapes (you notice immediately that they've had a huge budget) and some good cinematography, the technical part is amazingly poor. A few extra dollars in FX, guys! After The Lord of the Rings and especially after Avatar, there is no reason for a big budget movie to look so 80's! Fortunately, werewolf participation will be limited in Part 2 and that will give us a break.
All in all, Breaking Dawn Part I is the best in the series. Despite the cheesy premise, director Condon gives us an agile and compelling tale that maintains great fidelity to the book (hardcore fans will be delighted) and at the same time manages to include a bunch of winks for the horror fans.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 premiere took place this week @ the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The fourth installment of the blockbuster film franchise, which hits theaters this Friday, chronicles the lavish forest wedding (one of the biggest weddings shot in movie history), island honeymoon and impending parenthood of mortal teenager Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and her vampire crush, Edward Cullen, played by Stewart's real-life love Robert Pattinson.
The Breaking Dawn - Part 1 premiere event was streamed live on Yahoo!. A spokesperson said the event drew the largest simultaneous audience for a live movie premiere in Yahoo! history.
The premiered was swamped with hundreds of screaming fans. Many had traveled from far away and camped out for days to catch a glimpse of the stars of the vampire series.
Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner walked down an appropriate black carpet which welcomed them at the Nokia Theatre. Stewart vamped it up in a long purple and black gown with a thigh-high split, while Pattinson wore a fitted gray suit. The pair, alongside heart-throb Lautner, also in a gray suit, posed for the cameras and signed autographs for their fans.
The star-studded black carpet premiere was full of celebrities including singer Bruno Mars, actors Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ashley Tisdale, and Australians Sharni Vinson and Cody Simpson.
One thing is for sure, even though the premiere has come and gone, the after party was done spectacularly and is one that Hollywood will forever remember. The Chad Hudson-produced celebration took its cue from Twilight and featured a large space transformed partially into Bella and Edward's wedding reception and partially into their honeymoon location. According to The Los Angeles Times, perhaps the most breathtaking design was a set of wooden benches surrounded by vines and more than one thousand wisterias.
I guess we’re gonna have to go see the film to check out these lavish sets! Films buffs have predicted record-breaking ticket sales for the last two parts of the film series, which are adapted from Stephenie Meyer's novels. I know I'll be adding to those record breaking sales this weekend!
Are you going to see Breaking Dawn - Part 1 ? What are you most excited about seeing in this film?

C'mon admit it. It's fun to see an actor branch out beyond his "comfort zone." For the past three years, we've seen Taylor Lautner do nothing but brood in the never-ending stream of Twilight flicks. But with this week's Abduction movie, he's getting to flex his action chops and he actually pulls it off rather well.
Granted Taylor has quite a competent cast to back him up. Abduction features the established talents of Sigourney Weaver, Harry Potter’s Jason Isaacs, and, one of our personal faves, Alfred Molina. It's also got a very skilled auteur in the director's seat, namely Boyz N The Hood’s John Singleton.
But the true star of this movie is Lautner, going through the motions of rage, fear, and sadness as he watches his world turn upside down. Taylor plays the role of Nathan Price, a seemingly normal teen who soon discovers he was "abducted" as a child.
Mixing a nice bit of mystery and suspense, Abduction lets the audience share in Nathan's confusion. After seeing his picture on a missing kids website, this seemingly all-American teen has to reevaluate his normal parents and the entire life he knew.
Was he really kidnapped? Are the people who raised him secretly evil? And could there be even more nefarious characters looking to get their hands on the secrets Nathan holds? That's the premise that sets this movie on a fast-paced adventure across speeding trains, massive explosions, and an epic grand finale at Pittsburgh's PNC Park.
Obviously we don't want to give too much away, other than to say that Abduction is a fun thriller that's sure to appeal to Twilight fans and action movie buffs alike. Sure Lautner is no Shakespearean thespian, but he does a great job beating up bad guys and could have a solid future in the shoot-em-up genre.
Bottom line: It's doubtful that you'll be adding Abduction to your DVD library anytime soon. But if you're looking to escape for 90 minutes (and love watching car chases and explosions), this is definitely a solid pick. Taylor's a likeable presence in this and so is his up-and-coming costar Lily Collins (who happens to be a rockstar's daughter).

Twitch reports that Johnson is now in talks to star as the Giant Goliath in Relativity Media and Temple Hill Entertainment's biblical epic. This take on the classic David and Goliath story, has director Scott Derrickson (The Day The Earth Stood Still) attached and is envisioned to be in the likes of 300 in terms of style.
Now there are already concerns about whether or not Lautner is right for the part because he is 5'10" tall and compared to The Rock's 6'5" it's not really keeping true to the story. Obviously there will be computer generated visual FX to enhance the giantess of Goliath, but perhaps choosing an shorter actor would be wiser, also to calm down religious fanatics who are sure to voice their opinions!

Robert Pattinson fans got a big treat at last night's MTV Movie Awards. The 25-year-old Twilight star dominated the stage at L.A.'s Gibson Amphitheatre, taking home Best Male Performance, Best Fight Scene, and Best Kiss. Not only that, his Twilight: Eclipse film took home Best Movie of the year.
But, in between R. Patz moments, there was plenty of glam, glitz, and unpredictable comedy. Host Jason Sudeikis made sure to include some Arnold Schwarzenegger jokes in his monologue and even singled out Selena Gomez for a raunchy one-liner! But his shining moment was undoubtedly the opening Hangover Part II parody, which featured a hilarious cameo by Eva Mendes.
Other LOL tidbits came courtesy of Jim Carrey, who wore an image-flashing suit while presenting The Foo Fighters. Comic Aziz Ansari also got some laughs with his Jaden Smith impersonation, but perhaps the most off-the-wall moment occurred when R. Patz kissed costar Taylor Lautner on stage!
One of the trademarks of every MTV Movie Awards show are the sneak peeks of upcoming summer films. And this year's batch are sure to generate a ton of buzz. Throughout the evening, exclusive new scenes were shown of Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Super 8, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
As far as the big winners go (other than Robert Pattinson of course), there were quite a few that got the crowd buzzing. Justin Bieber took home Best Jaw Dropping Moment for his concert film Never Say Never and interestingly did not thank his new gal pal in his acceptance speech. And up-and-coming Latina Alexys Nycole Sanchez got a huge response when she won Best Line From A Movie (for her "I want to get chocolate wasted" moment from Grown Ups).
As expected, fashion was a huge part of the evening. Twilight’s Kristen Stewart got the most attention for her safety-pin studded ensemble and sleek black pumps. Harry Potter’s Emma Watson went for the more sophisticated look, sporting a Marchesa-designed white mini skirt. Prom’s Aimee Teegarden stood out with her colorful flowing dress and former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes took a little heat for flossing way too much spray-tan.
At two hours, the show definitely packed a lot in and never felt rushed or boring (are you listening Oscars?). Add to that a killer live performance from Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz, and it's clear that this year's MTV Movie Awards definitely delivered the goods.

Sorry Rob Pattinson fans! Turns out lip-locking with the Twilight star isn't as sexy as you may think. Just ask his "Water for Elephants" co-star and love interest in the movie, Reese Witherspoon! According to the actress, Pattinson was under the weather while filming their kissing scenes and we are not talking a little just-drink-some-tea-and-you'll-feel-better kind of cold.
Reese Witherspoon recently said:
“Rob possibly had the most hideous horrible cold of any co-star I’ve ever had to do a love scene with ever in my entire life. He was literally snorting and snotting through every second of it – and it was not appealing. I’m talking green, infectious, disgusting – I’m not kidding!"
And that's not all.
The Oscar-winning actress went on to say that Pattinson wasn't a good dancer either.
"You know, as dancers go, I wouldn’t say it’s his forte. Like, I wouldn’t say it’s his favourite thing, but it actually ended up turning out really well in the movie. We had some doubts whether we could pull it off; I’m not the greatest dancer either.”
She also added that she was very disappointed by the make-out sessions. Yeah, we would be too! Sounds like this couple's chemistry was agua y aceite...
Maybe they should have replaced Rob Pattinson for Taylor Lautner! Sometimes you just have to pick Team Jacob, right Twilighters?

The world's most famous teen wolf is looking all grown up on the July cover of GQ Magazine.
In addition to sharing his smokin' abs with the world, Taylor Lautner's interview with the mag features his thoughts on being the highest-paid teenage actor in Hollywood, dealing with aggressive "Twilight" fans, his upcoming first solo film, and more!
Lautner takes his success with a grain of salt. In 2008, despite "Twilight"'s success, studio execs were hinting at replacing him. According to GQ, Lautner admits to some dark, if brief, moments of self-doubt during that time. He hired a personal trainer on his own dime and started practicing some Tony Robbins mind tricks:
"I'm in the gym," Lautner says, "and I'm doing reps, and I'm reading the books, and I'm studying the character. I'm just saying to myself, 'I want this role. I love this role. I'm not gonna lose it. And I'm gonna know it better than anybody, and I'm gonna do that extra rep, because I'm gonna be Jacob Black.' "

A new year, a new "Twilight" film, and today a new TRAILER! Yesterday's 10-second teaser left us eagerly awaiting Friday's full release of the sneak peek at "Eclipse," but it seems like Christmas came a day early for Twihards everywhere! Released Thursday morning (March 11), the teaser trailer for the third movie in the series gives fans nearly everything they might ask for: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in bed together, Taylor Lautner without his shirt on and a little bit of acrobatic vampire action. Check it out! (MTVNews)

Just two days shy of the official release of the full 'Eclipse' trailer during vamp Robert Pattinson's new movie 'Remember Me,' a quick ten second TEASER emerged online leaving Twilighters salivating for the June 30th release of the flick.
Did this teaser quench your Team Edward and Team Jacob thirst? Is it possible Taylor Lautner will be shirtless even MORE during the third installment of the franchise? Will you rush to see the trailer on Friday and satisfy your Robert Pattinson fix during his new film, or will you wait until the trailer's released online Saturday? Let us know below! (MTV)
Team Jacob has reason to celebrate: "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner has signed on to star in "Stretch Armstrong," based on the action figure from Hasbro.
The Hollywood Reporter announced Lautner's commitment to "Armstrong," Universal's upcoming 3-D adaptation of the Hasbro toy property slated for release at some point in 2012. The film was initially scheduled for May 15, 2011, before Lautner's involvement.
"Stretch Armstrong" focuses on an uptight spy who inadvertently exposes himself to a formula that allows him to physically stretch his body to great lengths. With his newfound ability, the spy is forced to not only re-adjust to everyday life, but also to rethink his own crime-fighting tactics.
"In the past two years, Taylor has emerged as a real star at the global box office," Universal co-chairman Donna Langley told THR. "He brings the perfect balance of energy and athleticism to the role of an unlikely superhero with a fantastic superpower."
Interestingly enough, "Stretch Armstrong" isn't the only action-hero franchise Lautner has been linked to in recent months. Following the actor's contagious success as Jacob the werewolf in the "Twilight" franchise, it was announced that Lautner was in talks to headline "Max Steel" for Paramount. He has also signed on to star in "Cancun," an action film that thrusts the young star into the role of an out-of-place college student who has to free his friends and girlfriend while vacationing in Cancun.
With his three upcoming roles, it's clear Lautner is being positioned as an action star for a new generation of young moviegoers. (MTVNews)
