There was definitely a strong Latino presence at last night's 18th Annual SAG Awards. Stars like Demián Bichir, Bérénice Bejo, and Sofía Vergara were all nominated in pivotal categories, though sadly none of them won. But at least Sofia didn't walk away empty handed, as she and co-star Rico Rodriguez took home Best Ensemble statues for their performances on Modern Family.
As usual, Vergara wowed the press with her red carpet strut. Proudly showing her famous Colombian curves, the 39-year-old turned heads in a very revealing Marchesa dress. Naya Rivera (who also received a Best Ensemble nomination for her work on Glee) dazzled the crowd too, in a sexy gown designed by Naeem Khan.
Another big style winner was Zoe Saldana, who strutted into the event wearing a sparkling Riccardo Tisci gown accentuated with Tiffany jewels. Angelina Jolie, who supported her nominated steady Brad Pitt, showed off some impressive pieces of bling too, which included a House of Lavande bracelet and a Platt Boutique ring.
"I wanted to be comfortable," she told reporters. "I always liked vintage jewelry and I don't wear it often."
But of course, the show wasn't just about the glimmering gowns and fancy earrings. It was the speeches and the winning performances that stole the evening. The Artist’s Jean Dujardin took home Best Film Actor (beating one of our faves, Demián Bichir) and Viola Davis won Best Actress for her role in The Help.
Christopher Plummer and Octavia Spencer won in the Best Supporting film categories for their respective roles in Beginners and The Help. Steve Buscemi's Boardwalk Empire performance got him the Best Dramatic TV Actor award, while Jessica Lange took down Best Dramatic TV Actress for her work in American Horror Story.
Perhaps the biggest ovation of the night went to Betty White, who won in the Best Supporting TV Actress category for Hot In Cleveland. Though we were a little miffed that she beat out Sofia, we do have to give the 90-year-old legend some credit for staying in the game so long.
"I think they made a terrible mistake," White jokingly told the crowd as she accepted her award.
And don't think the SAGs were just about Shakespearean thespians getting all weepy for the camera. HBO's Game of Thrones cast got honored for their heavy onscreen brutality, taking home the night's Best Stunt Ensemble award.

Who knew Brazil was such a hub for high fashion? The South American country hosted a very prominent runway show this week and stirred up even more style news, courtesy of hometown hero Gustavo Lins.
Lins is currently creating quite a lot of commotion in France. The 50-year-old designer is set to debut several high-end "flamenco" dresses, military jackets, and wool overcoats this Tuesday at the Paris spring fashion show.
"My whole philosophy of clothing comes from architecture," Gustavo confessed. "From my knowledge of kimonos and from painting for my color palette."
Lins actually began his career as a student of architecture. Born in Brazil, he earned a college scholarship to study design in Barcelona and eventually made the city his permanent home.
Interestingly, it was his university professor at the time who encouraged him to incorporate his skills into the clothing world.
"[My professor] told me there was more than one way to be an architect," Gustavo went on to say. "With silk, leather, cotton, or wool. My subject would be the human body."
Halfway around the world, in Lins' home country, the fashion world got its own dose of big news. Hollywood bad boy Ashton Kutcher flew all the way to Sao Paolo to attend the city's legendary runway show.
Seen laughing and partying with friends, the Two and a Half Men star appeared to be having a blast. It marked quite a departure from his appearance last year with then-wife, Demi Moore.
And hometown girl Alessandra Ambrosio scored big headlines at the event too, particularly for her pregnancy strut down the catwalk. Modeling for Colcci, Alessandra proved to the world that baby bumps can still be sexy (especially when you're a supermodel).
If that isn't considered “haute,” we don't know what is.

Who doesn't love Anahí's unique sense of style? Well now you can adopt it too, with some pointers straight from the former RBD star herself. And it's all happening courtesy of Aviesta.com.
The Mexican fashion site actually has a pretty unique idea on its hands. By taking a personalized quiz, "Anahí" and her team of stylists can match ladies with their perfect shoe, boot, or pump.
"Ladies, get treated like a superstar!" Anahí excitedly says on the homepage. "Now at Aviesta, my team of stylists and I will bring you the hottest shoe styles every month!"
And that's only the beginning. According to People en Español, Anahí will be making some surprise appearances at Aviesta stores in L.A. later this month. Who knows? Maybe if this really takes off, she could start advising plastic surgery patients on how to achieve that "perfect nose."

Are you as confused by beauty pageants as we are? There's Miss Universe, Miss USA, Miss World, and good old fashioned Miss America. This weekend, the latter got her crown in a televised event that was anti-climactic and sorely missing some memorable Latinas.
Miss Wisconsin, Laura Kaeppeler, is America's newest title-holder. The 23-year-old seemed truly touched by the honor and was even brought to tears when the judges revealed her name.
"Miss America represents everyone, so I think the message to political candidates is that they represent everyone as well," Kaeppeler told the crowd. "And so in these economic times, we need to be looking forward to what America needs, and I think Miss America needs to represent all."
Raven-haired and truly ravishing in a swimsuit, Laura earned a cool $50,000 for her victory Saturday night. And she also won plenty of hearts with her emotional speeches. Kaeppeler spoke about her father who had been imprisoned for mail fraud and the importance of mentoring children whose parents are behind bars.
Miss New York, Miss Arizona, and Miss California were the night's Runner Ups and interestingly, none of them were Latina. In years' past, southwest states had a strong Hispanic presence at the pageant and previous New York contenders have been of Puerto Rican heritage.
Not this year. In fact, the only Latina in the competition appeared to be Miss Puerto Rico herself, Laura Ramirez. Unfortunately Ramirez failed to place into the night's Top 15.
Despite all that, the evening did feature a strong Latino presence. In fact, two of the pageant's most influential people were Tr3s faves. Raul "El Gordo" De Molina and Dancing With The Stars’ Mark Ballas helped call the shots as celebrity judges. And seeing the beauty and compassion of Laura Kaeppeler, it's clear they made the right choice.

There were no major sweeps at this past Sunday's Golden Globes. Nearly every big win came from a different movie or television show. But in a way, that made for a much more interesting (and hard to predict) broadcast, which still had plenty of memorable moments thanks to unpredictable host Ricky Gervais.
Sadly, all of the Tr3s faves did not win in their respective categories. Sofia Vergara lost her Best Supporting TV Actress statue to American Horror Story’s Jessica Lange. But the Modern Family star still made a very big splash, strutting down the red carpet in over $5 million worth of jewels!
We also had high hopes for The Artist’s Bérénice Bejo. The Argentine star was highly favored to take home the night's Best Supporting Film Actress statue for her performance as silent screen goddess Peppy Miller. But she too lost out, this time to The Help’s Octavia Spencer.
The Artist film, however, did prove to be a major success and is expected to earn some big time Oscar love when the Academy Award nominations are announced. Bejo's movie nabbed Best Motion Picture Musical and Best Lead Actor for Jean Dujardin.
Best Motion Picture Drama went to The Descendants, which also scored George Clooney a Best Dramatic Actor Globe. Meryl Streep won Best Dramatic Actress for The Iron Lady and My Week With Marilyn's Michelle Williams took it down for the Best Lead Actress Musical or Comedy.
The night's Best Director statue went to Martin Scorsese for Hugo and The Adventures of Tintin won Best Animated Feature Film (beating out another Tr3s fave, Puss In Boots).
On the TV side of things, Modern Family was honored as Best Comedy Series and Showtime's Homeland won Best Drama. Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage earned huge applause for his Best Supporting Actor win and gave a heartfelt speech about a fellow dwarf actor.
Now as far as Ricky was concerned, his opening monologue was still as ruthless as ever. The British comic skewered celebs like Madonna, Johnny Depp, and Jodie Foster with his trademark wit and kept the show fun and lively. He even took a mean spirited crack at Justin Bieber's recent baby daddy drama.
"The only way [Justin] could impregnate a girl," Gervais joked, "is if he borrowed one of Martha Stewart's turkey basters."
As expected, fashion was in full bloom at the event too. Charlize Theron seemed to grab the most attention for her daring yet classy Dior gown. Claire Danes won over the style critics with her black-and-white J. Mendel ensemble. And keeping her alt chick character fully intact, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’s Rooney Mara dressed up extra racy in a dark Nina Ricci gown.

The "People" have spoken and it seems they love Demi Lovato. The part-Mexican starlet proved to be the belle of the ball at last night's People's Choice Awards, taking home Best Pop Artist and delivering a powerhouse performance of "Give Your Heart A Break."
But Lovato wasn't the only one the crowds went nuts for. Robert Pattinson, Lea Michelle, and Emma Stone made a major mark as well.
In the movie department, the Choice was clearly Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. The final Hogwarts installment nabbed Favorite Movie, Favorite Action Movie, and Favorite Ensemble Cast. Johnny Depp (who skipped the ceremony) made a big mark as well, earning Favorite Action Movie Star and Favorite Animated Movie Voice for Rango.
Other winners from the big screen included Ryan Reynolds for his work in Green Lantern and Hugh Jackman for Real Steel. The box office smash Bridesmaids earned the title of Favorite Comedy Movie and Morgan Freeman took home Favorite Movie Icon.
On the TV side of things, How I Met Your Mother got plenty love, first for Favorite Comedy and then for Favorite Actor (which went to Neil Patrick Harris).
Betty White was on hand to accept a Favorite Cable TV Comedy award for her show Hot In Cleveland and Jimmy Fallon earned the title of Favorite Late Night TV Host.
In the reality realm, American Idol beat out The Voice for Favorite TV Competition Show. And not surprisingly, Kim Kardashian earned the title of Favorite TV Celebreality Star (though some in the crowd weren't too happy about that).
In the world of music, Katy Perry scored four awards for Favorite Song ("E.T."), Favorite Video, Favorite Female Artist, and Favorite Tour Headliner. That would have been quite an accomplishment for the pop songstress…if she decided to show. But seeing how Katy’s going through a painful divorce, she chose to bail on the festivities.
Tr3s fave Bruno Mars earned the title of Favorite Male Artist. And though he didn't get up on the stage, he let his fans know that was eternally grateful for the honor.
"I'm currently walking down the street screaming "I am an ultimate male"!! Thank you at @peopleschoice and to those that voted! #hooligans" he tweeted.
And, as per usual, there was plenty of high fashion in effect last night too. Miley Cyrus wowed the crowd with a chique revealing white dress. Vanessa Hudgens chose the glam route, bedazzling herself in a gold and black ensemble. And hostess Kaley Cuoco strutted very elegantly across the red carpet in a shimmering cream-colored gown.

Who could forget enigmatic designer Mondo Guerra? The Project Runway runner up from season eight proved to be a huge fan favorite and now he's back for Heidi Klum's All Star edition.
Back in 2010, Guerra made a quite an impact on the show and not just for his outrageous outfits. The openly gay designer revealed to the world that he was HIV positive and proved to be a role model for those struggling with the disease.
And though Mondo didn't win the last time he was on the show, he's off to a very good start in the All Star season. The Hollywood Reporter praised his binder infused cocktail dress this week, saying it "could have been worn out to a cocktail party that night."
But keep in mind, Guerra's in for some stiff competition this year. He'll be going up against fan faves like Sweet P, Jerell Scott, and Michael Costello. Not to mention that fashion judge everyone loves to hate, Tim Gunn.
Good luck Mondo!

Victoria Secret Angels Adriana Lima, Erin Heatherton, and Alessandra Ambrosio were seen strutting around a pink helicopter as part of a promotional shoot for Puerto Rico's first ever Victoria's Secret store.
The models were beautifully decked out in slinky black elegant cocktail dresses, not the skimpy lingerie or swimwear you would probably expect for a tropical island paradise.
Adriana, Erin, and Alessandra were there to promote the November 11 opening of the Victoria's Secret store, located in San Juan's Plaza Las Americas shopping mall. With Plaza las Americas rumored to being the largest mall in the Caribbean, it's about time the welcomed Victoria's Secret into their retail family.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi always seems to make for an engaging interview. And this week on Conan O'Brien's show, she shared some very interesting beauty secrets. According to The Snooks, she rubs kitty litter on her face to help preserve her skin.
There's no denying that the slimmed-down Snooki looked pretty good when she stepped on Conan's stage. So much so, that O'Brien began inquiring about her flawless skin. That's when she delivered the line that got the entire crowd roaring.
"[Kitty litter's] got exfoliates, they've got rocks in there...it makes your skin really smooth," she confessed to the talk show host. "I haven't broken out yet!"
Conan quickly threw a wisecrack back, but it was clear that Snooki was being serious. In fact, she even encouraged her fans to invest in "litter" bags as a way to keep that Jersey glow.
But, of course, the appearance wasn't all about feline talk. Ever the businesswoman, Snooks made sure to plug her new book and her latest iPad app.

We're not quite sure what Benetton's latest ads have to do with selling clothes, but they certainly are attention grabbing. The famous fashion house has decided to get political with their new campaign, by releasing doctored photos of world leaders locking lips.
The ad that seems to have gotten the most attention showcases a passionate kiss between Barack Obama and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. We've got to admit, the Photoshop skills being used here are pretty impressive, but they're also causing a whirlwind of controversy.
The White House has already spoken out against the ads, criticizing Benetton for using the President to sell their products.
"The White House has a longstanding policy disapproving of the use of the president's name and likeness for commercial purposes," D.C. spokesman Eric Schultz said.
Several other nations seem to be irked by the campaign too. Besides the Obama/Chavez pairing, Benetton has shown smooch shots between France's Nicolas Sarkozy and Germany's Angela Merkel, as well as Pope Benedict XVI and Egypt's Mohamed Ahmed el-Tayeb.
