Even though she didn't win Best Supporting Actress at the SAG Awards, Sofia Vergara still got a pretty important honor this week. The guy-centric website AskMen.com named her "The Most Desirable Woman" of 2012.
Keep in mind that AskMen is VERY selective about who they label as "Desirable." Coming up right behind Sofia was fashion model Kate Upton. Mainstays like Kim Kardashian and Rihanna also made the Top 10, but it's #3 who actually took fans most by surprise.
Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara (in all her pierced, goth glory) ranked third on the "Desirable" list. AskMen labeled her the "ultimate punk pin-up girl" and we may have to agree.
And as far as other Latinas are concerned, Selena Gomez, Jessica Alba, and Penelope Cruz all cracked the Top 50. But it was Vergara who truly seemed to dazzle them all. Clearly flattered by the honor, Sofia went on to write,
"I am so honored to be AskMen’s most desired woman this year. A big thank you to all the men who desire me."

There was definitely a strong Latino presence at last night's 18th Annual SAG Awards. Stars like Demián Bichir, Bérénice Bejo, and Sofía Vergara were all nominated in pivotal categories, though sadly none of them won. But at least Sofia didn't walk away empty handed, as she and co-star Rico Rodriguez took home Best Ensemble statues for their performances on Modern Family.
As usual, Vergara wowed the press with her red carpet strut. Proudly showing her famous Colombian curves, the 39-year-old turned heads in a very revealing Marchesa dress. Naya Rivera (who also received a Best Ensemble nomination for her work on Glee) dazzled the crowd too, in a sexy gown designed by Naeem Khan.
Another big style winner was Zoe Saldana, who strutted into the event wearing a sparkling Riccardo Tisci gown accentuated with Tiffany jewels. Angelina Jolie, who supported her nominated steady Brad Pitt, showed off some impressive pieces of bling too, which included a House of Lavande bracelet and a Platt Boutique ring.
"I wanted to be comfortable," she told reporters. "I always liked vintage jewelry and I don't wear it often."
But of course, the show wasn't just about the glimmering gowns and fancy earrings. It was the speeches and the winning performances that stole the evening. The Artist’s Jean Dujardin took home Best Film Actor (beating one of our faves, Demián Bichir) and Viola Davis won Best Actress for her role in The Help.
Christopher Plummer and Octavia Spencer won in the Best Supporting film categories for their respective roles in Beginners and The Help. Steve Buscemi's Boardwalk Empire performance got him the Best Dramatic TV Actor award, while Jessica Lange took down Best Dramatic TV Actress for her work in American Horror Story.
Perhaps the biggest ovation of the night went to Betty White, who won in the Best Supporting TV Actress category for Hot In Cleveland. Though we were a little miffed that she beat out Sofia, we do have to give the 90-year-old legend some credit for staying in the game so long.
"I think they made a terrible mistake," White jokingly told the crowd as she accepted her award.
And don't think the SAGs were just about Shakespearean thespians getting all weepy for the camera. HBO's Game of Thrones cast got honored for their heavy onscreen brutality, taking home the night's Best Stunt Ensemble award.
Who do you think delivered the best acting performance of 2011? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.

There were no major sweeps at this past Sunday's Golden Globes. Nearly every big win came from a different movie or television show. But in a way, that made for a much more interesting (and hard to predict) broadcast, which still had plenty of memorable moments thanks to unpredictable host Ricky Gervais.
Sadly, all of the Tr3s faves did not win in their respective categories. Sofia Vergara lost her Best Supporting TV Actress statue to American Horror Story’s Jessica Lange. But the Modern Family star still made a very big splash, strutting down the red carpet in over $5 million worth of jewels!
We also had high hopes for The Artist’s Bérénice Bejo. The Argentine star was highly favored to take home the night's Best Supporting Film Actress statue for her performance as silent screen goddess Peppy Miller. But she too lost out, this time to The Help’s Octavia Spencer.
The Artist film, however, did prove to be a major success and is expected to earn some big time Oscar love when the Academy Award nominations are announced. Bejo's movie nabbed Best Motion Picture Musical and Best Lead Actor for Jean Dujardin.
Best Motion Picture Drama went to The Descendants, which also scored George Clooney a Best Dramatic Actor Globe. Meryl Streep won Best Dramatic Actress for The Iron Lady and My Week With Marilyn's Michelle Williams took it down for the Best Lead Actress Musical or Comedy.
The night's Best Director statue went to Martin Scorsese for Hugo and The Adventures of Tintin won Best Animated Feature Film (beating out another Tr3s fave, Puss In Boots).
On the TV side of things, Modern Family was honored as Best Comedy Series and Showtime's Homeland won Best Drama. Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage earned huge applause for his Best Supporting Actor win and gave a heartfelt speech about a fellow dwarf actor.
Now as far as Ricky was concerned, his opening monologue was still as ruthless as ever. The British comic skewered celebs like Madonna, Johnny Depp, and Jodie Foster with his trademark wit and kept the show fun and lively. He even took a mean spirited crack at Justin Bieber's recent baby daddy drama.
"The only way [Justin] could impregnate a girl," Gervais joked, "is if he borrowed one of Martha Stewart's turkey basters."
As expected, fashion was in full bloom at the event too. Charlize Theron seemed to grab the most attention for her daring yet classy Dior gown. Claire Danes won over the style critics with her black-and-white J. Mendel ensemble. And keeping her alt chick character fully intact, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’s Rooney Mara dressed up extra racy in a dark Nina Ricci gown.

Modern Family's Sofia Vergara started off the new year by helping a woman in distress at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas. The woman had collapsed outside of the hotel's Hyde nightclub around 3 am, hours after ringing in 2012.
Sofia was leaving the nightclub with one of her girlfriends when she noticed the woman fall to the ground. The cooky colombiana rushed over to the woman with her friend, who happened to have some medical training under her belt.
Sofia's friend took the woman's pulse and made sure she was stable, while they both waited for the paramedics to arrive and transport her to an area hospital. Not only is Vergara hilarious and warm, but also a good Samaritan.
Which celebrity would you want to start the year off meeting?

Maybe the Mayan end-of-the-world prediction got to people because this past new year's the parties were raging like never before! Several famous faces were spotted all over the country Saturday night, ringing in 2012 with plenty of style.
Over in Florida, Diddy hosted a huge party at his Miami estate. Known for throwing extravagant NYE bashes, the music mogul maintained his rep by launching a massive fireworks show and welcoming famous guests like Rihanna, Fat Joe, and Busta Rhymes. No official word on whether his rumored galpal, Cameron Diaz, was in attendance, but it certainly wouldn't surprise us if she was.
Interestingly, another Miami local made major headlines that night too. Heat superstar LeBron James rung in the new year as an engaged man! He popped the question to longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson during a romantic dinner at a South Beach restaurant.
Over on the east coast, Tr3s faves Pitbull and Diego Torres made the rounds at New York's historic Times Square.
Pit's energetic performance of "Give Me Everything" was seen by over 13 million viewers on ABC's New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Mr. 305 was also on hand to watch the famous ball drop for the Dick Clark countdown.
Elsewhere in the city, new couple Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling shared a romantic evening at the Bowery Hotel. Selena Gomez hit the East Coast too, partying with boyfriend Justin Bieber until 3 am! And for the record, "The Biebs" earned quite a bit of musical credibility that night for his impassioned "Let It Be" duet with Carlos Santana.
As expected, Las Vegas proved to be a big NYE hotspot too. Kim Kardashian earned a cool $60,000 for hosting an Eve party at Tao in the Venetian Hotel. Stevie Wonder also nabbed a nice chunk of change on Saturday, performing to a sold-out crowd at Sin City's Cosmopolitan Resort.
On the west coast, Katy Perry seemed to be all smiles at L.A.'s trendy Soho House. The newly single star was seen dancing and partying alongside some of her closest friends. Mario Lopez hosted a sizable bash at Hollywood's Kodak Theater which included guests like Cobra Starship and a DJ performance by Tom Cruise's son, Connor.
And as far as the celebrity tweets go, many stars took time to reflect on 2011 and the exciting things in store for next year.
"I wanna wish you all a happy and safe new year," Bruno Mars wrote. "I thought 2010 was great but thanks to you guys 2011 has been the greatest year of my life!"
"Happy New Year! Health - happiness and love to you all!" Jessica Alba posted.
And Sofia Vergara sent out one of her signature Twitpix along with the quote, "Feliz anoooo!"

Notice anything interesting at your local movie theater? We may still be in December, but the 2012 blockbuster posters are already going up. And judging by the trailers and teaser pix we've seen so far, there is A LOT to get excited about.
One of next year's most anticipated flicks is clearly The Dark Knight Rises. This third installment of the Christopher Nolan Batman franchise may be its last, but we expect it to go out with a bang! Still shrouded in secrecy, there are reports about famous Gotham villains like Catwoman, Bane, and Ra's al Ghul causing on screen havoc. But even more interesting are the rumors about a caped crusader sidekick. Could Joseph Gordon Levitt be sliding into Robin's tights? We'll find out on July 20.
Another biggie is undoubtedly The Avengers. A who's who of the Marvel universe, this fanboy fest promises killer scenes with Iron Man, Captain America, and the Incredible Hulk. And if that weren't enough, it's got sci-fi god Joss Whedon at the helm! Look for The Avengers to arrive on May 4.
And speaking of fantasy, Middle Earth fans are chomping at the bit to get a glimpse of the first Hobbit scenes. A prequel to Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, this epic two-part movie saga promises to expand the legend and will bring back a ton of your favorite characters. Expect to see Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood, and Orlando Bloom return to their signature roles. Even fan fave Gollum is slated to make an appearance.
Another biggie to look out for is The Hunger Games. Based on the bestselling novel, it mixes in action, sci-fi, and plenty of conspiracy theories. Original author Suzanne Collins has signed on to adapt the screenplay, so you can bet it will keep all of the book's thrills intact.
In the comedy world, Men In Black III will definitely be packing seats on Memorial Day weekend. This latest installment's got Will Smith, weird aliens, and a bit of 20th century time traveling.
There will also be a ton of Tr3s faves making their mark on the big screen next year. Expect strong box office numbers from Sofia Vergara's Three Stooges movie. The Amazing Spider-Man with Martin Sheen should rake in a huge lump of cash too. We're also extremely stoked to see Javier Bardem duke it out with James Bond in Skyfall.
So keep racking up those movie theater rewards points, because next year there will be plenty of reasons to plant yourself in front of the big screen!

Who knew so many Latinos were part of the Obamas' weekly television regimen? According to a new interview with Michelle, the first family regularly TiVos shows with Sofia Vergara, Paz de la Huerta, and Morena Baccarin.
It seems Barack is a fan of Boardwalk Empire and Homeland. Boardwalk features Paz in a provocative role and also provides some interesting history on the early days of the Jersey Shore. Brazilian-born Morena plays a very sexy housewife in Homeland, which is right up the President's alley with its thrilling political undertones.
The rest of the Obama clan seems to be all about Sofia Vergara and Modern Family. Michelle confessed that her daughters, Malia and Sasha, rarely miss an episode.
"For the girls and me, it's all about Modern Family," the First Lady said. "That's our favorite show."
With Malia's 14th birthday right around the corner, we thought of another great selection for her viewing habits. Perhaps a weekly dose of Quiero Mis Quinces!

Stealing thunder away from all of those SAG honorees, this morning the Golden Globes released their 2011 nomination list (which included quite a few surprises). The Artist led the pack with a total of six nods, followed by The Descendants and The Help, which each scored five.
Interestingly, it was the morning's presenters who seemed to garner the most attention, particularly Sofia Vergara and Woody Harrelson. Glammed up at the crack of dawn, Sofia, Woody, Gerard Butler, and Rashida Jones listed off the names.
Harrelson definitely kept the mood light, joking around with Butler and shamelessly plugging his new movie, Rampart. Vergara made some headlines too, particularly when she flubbed the name of Martin Scorsese. But she was clearly having fun and even made some silly faces for the camera.
As far as the nominees go, 2011 will definitely make for an interesting mix. We were a little bummed to hear that some of our faves did not get recognized for their performances. A Better Life’s Demian Bichir seemed like the worst snub, as he was M.I.A. when the Best Dramatic Actor names were read.
It was also a shame that Edward James Olmos failed to stir up any Golden Globe attention for his excellent work on Dexter this season. And though it was a longshot, we would have loved to have seen Penelope Cruz recognized for her comic performance in Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
Those who were nominated included George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, and Leonardo DiCaprio in the Best Dramatic Actor category. Glenn Close, Meryl Streep, Viola Davis, and Rooney Mara were among the Best Dramatic Actress nominees. Bérénice Bejo, who recently scored a SAG nod, was recognized in the Best Supporting Actress category for her work in The Artist.
As far as Best Dramatic Picture, voters will be choosing between War Horse, The Descendants, The Help, Hugo, The Ides of March, and Moneyball. Best Comedy Picture nominees included Bridesmaids, The Artist, 50/50, My Week With Marilyn, and Midnight In Paris.
It is worth noting that the Latino-heavy Puss In Boots is up for Best Animated Picture. And in the Best Foreign Picture category, Pedro Almodovar’s The Skin I Live In picked up a nod. Strangely, Almodovar will be competing with Angelina Jolie for that award, since her Bosnian movie, In the Land of Blood and Honey, qualifies as a foreign language film.
On the TV side of things, Boardwalk Empire received tons of Golden Globe love. Game of Thrones also received multiple nominations, as did Modern Family (including yet another nod for Sofia Vergara!) Obviously, the full list of nominees is massive and we'll admit there are some very worthy people being recognized. If you'd like to see the breakdown, head over to IMDb.
We'll be anxiously awaiting the news of who takes home what when the 69th Golden Globe Awards air on January 15!

We really saw some brilliant performances by Latino actors this year on both the big and small screen. And not just in the drama department. Stars like Sofia Vergara and Oscar Nuñez showcased some great comic timing and are rightly getting their due, with nominations at the 2012 Screen Actor's Guild (SAG) Awards.
You can expect to see quite a lot of Latin talent at the ceremony next year. One of our personal faves, Demian Bichir, was nominated for his work in A Better Life. So far Demian has been wowing the critics with his performance as humble gardener Carlos Galindo (even scoring an Independent Spirit nom). Could an Oscar nod not be far behind? Let's hope so.
Another interesting SAG nominee is Bérénice Bejo. The Argentine/French actress has been getting rave reviews for her performance in The Artist and could be well on her way to an Academy Award nod too. American audiences will probably recognize her from her work in the Heath Ledger film A Knight’s Tale. We're sure you'll be seeing a lot more of her in the months ahead.
Of course, you know we'll be rooting for Sofia Vergara again. She earned yet another nomination for her portrayal as the zesty Gloria on Modern Family. Though she definitely generates laughs on the show, it's important to note that Vergara delivers one heck of a performance. Comedy is no easy task to pull off and thankfully, with her Emmy and Golden Globe noms, the voters have taken notice of her talents.
Other Latinos to root for at the SAGs include Oscar Nuñez, Paz de la Huerta, and Naya Rivera. Their respective shows (The Office, Boardwalk Empire, and Glee) were all nominated in the Best Cast Ensemble category, which means they could be taking home awards too.
Interestingly, Sofia is nominated as a solo performer and as an ensemble player, which means she could nab two statues during the night! Of course, she's already got one sitting safely on her home shelf.
Let's wish them all luck when the SAGs go down on January 29.

If you think about it, who would be better to hand out an inspirational award than J.R. Martinez? The Iraq war veteran touched millions with his moves on Dancing With The Stars and proved to be a fantastic presenter at this weekend's CNN Heroes event.
Looking very dapper in his grey and black suit, J.R. stood alongside notables like Anderson Cooper, Chris Colfer, and Piers Morgan for the Saturday ceremony. The event helped honor everyday people who are doing extraordinary things in their daily lives.
Tr3s fave Sofia Vergara also made a memorable appearance and even posted a glammed up picture from her Twitter account.
Of course, the real attention was focused on the honorees. Several Latinos were recognized this year for their Heroic efforts, including Elena Durón Miranda (who works with poverty-stricken children in Argentina) and Eddie Canales (who helps injured teenagers on the football field).
But the big Hero of the night was Robin Lim. Also known as "Mother Robin", she offers free prenatal care and medical aid to underprivileged Indonesian women. Lim's work scored her 2011's Hero of the Year award as well as $250,000 to continue her efforts.
