It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a month since the 2010 World Cup started. All of the drama, gossip, big horns, and incredible matches wind down this Sunday much in the same way they began with a stellar closing ceremony concert featuring Shakira and a host of international artists!
Shaki has definitely enjoyed her trip to South Africa. She’s been a major presence at the World Cup since her kickoff performance June 10, enjoyed quality time with the local lions, and is now set to close it all up with a “Waka Waka” grand finale!

Some of the musicians on the bill include Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Nigeria’s 2Face, Ghana’s Samani and more! And with a 12:30 PM ET kickoff, it’ll be in a time zone everybody can appreciate (and most people in the world WILL – it’s anticipated over 500 million will watch).
Also expected to attend is former president Nelson Mandela, who had to miss to the opening ceremony due to poor health. We have a feeling he's going to love Shakira and her “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” rendition! What a great way to bring this awesome event full circle.
The World Cup Closing Ceremony begins at 12:30pm ET this Sunday, July 11!

Shakira and Residente teamed up this past weekend to give the Glastonbury Music Festival a special treat. The stars came together to perform their song "Gordita" at Europe's largest musical event!
The duo performed for a large crowd of fans and La Loba not only used her vocals, but as everyone in the audience saw, showed off her abs and shook those hips. Shaki shared this statement with Contact Music: "Playing Glastonbury was better even than I expected. I enjoyed it so much. The crowd completely seduced me - it was an ocean of people, and they participated in every song, like a constant crescendo."
The Glastonbury Festival's 40 anniversary had lots of stars, but Shakira was pegged as one of the most entertaining to watch. Dressed in a t-shirt and a pair of jeans, La Colombiana ran around stage so fast it's amazing she could keep her breath to sing.
Another highlight of the fest: Shakira going indie and covering The xx’s “Islands”! The live performance clip was taken down by YouTube, but have a listen to the song:

Team Blogamole has kept close tabs on the 2010 FIFA World Cup standings. Now, with the elimination Round of 16 approaching, even celebrities aren't immune to World Cup fever!

Shakira has been posting Twitpics since Day 1 of the World Cup, sharing Copa love from all over the world. Juanes twitter his disappointment for Mexico earlier this week: "triste por México .. felicidades para Uruguay y con toda Argentina !! Esa copa es para los latinos o España !!"
Teams are still battling it out to advance to the Round of 16. Here's what you need to know:
Round of 16 Day 1 (Saturday, June 26)
Winner of Group C plays runner up of Group D:
The U.S., claiming the number 1 spot in Group C after an exciting victory against Algeria Wednesday, (June 23) will battle against second seeded Ghana from Group D on Saturday in Port Elizabeth.

“Rock n Gol” star Akon took to Twitter, closely following the games:
“I still have hope for our African teams...” but still showed good sportsmanship congratulating the US in their win against Algeria “Big up to USA and ENG for their wins today.”
It's all good Akon, the US has Nick Jonas's excitement to rally behind. He showed his support for the U.S. from the very beginning, tweeting “Let's go USA!!!!!” with literally over 110 exclamation marks! Trust us, we counted.

Celebrity perfumes stock store shelves even more than designer brands nowadays. Shakira is the perfect example of why the formula works. Just ask yourself, who wouldn't want to smell like the Colombian star?
Shaki launched her second fragrance simply titled "S" yesterday (June 23), which includes the perfect balance of seductive aromas like benzoin, amber, vanilla, fresh wood and jasmine.

During the launch in Madrid, Shakira described what fans can expect from her new fragrance:
"Like a song, a perfume is composed of different individual notes, which together form a harmony."

Interesting. Sounds like spraying "S" is going to be as much fun as doing the "Waka, Waka" dance! Question is, do you think it will beat out other celebrity scents like Beyonce's bestselling "Heat" or Paulina Rubio's "Oro"? You be the judge!

Fresh from her World Cup “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” performance, it looks like Shakira may be making a move for the Bollywood circuit. First South Africa, now India — could our favorite Colombian She-Wolf be on her way to global domination?
Last week it was announced that Hindi music team Salim-Sulaiman were talking with Shaki about performing “a supposed Cabaret number with Latin influences” in a new Hindi blockbuster. According to OneIndia, Shakira and Sulaiman could be recording the song within the next month.

It’s obvious that if you’re performing for millions of FIFA fans, you’ll be catching the attention of movers and shakers from all over in the world. And for Shaki, one of those viewers happened to be the Hindi music team of Salim-Sulaiman. You may not have heard of their protégées Viva and Shweta Shetty, but you can bet a few of India’s 1.1 billion residents have!
And now they may be getting an exclusive dose of Shakira! It’s actually not the first time a mainstream artist has gone Bollywood. Kylie Minogue made an appearance with Indian superstar Akshay Kumar in the film "Blue."
Any chance we’ll get to see J-Lo do the Jai Ho? You never know...

The World Cup has taken over! Giving us amazing opening performances by Juanes, Alicia Keys, Black Eyed Peas, the first exciting Mexico match, and more, MTV Tr3s has been following the action.
What started off strong could use a serious energy boost — 7 days into the 2010 FIFA World Cup, we're hoping to see more goals scored, all-out attacking play and individual skill. Halfway through the second round — with 20 matches played and an unimpressive 38 goals scored — this could turn out to be one of the least scoring World Cups of all time. In the 2006 World Cup, 20 matches resulted in 44 goals scored. Let's kick it up a notch, people!
Group A
Leading this group is Uruguay and Mexico. They have pretty much sewn up spots in the next round. With the final game against each other scheduled for Tuesday, (June 22) they would simply have to tie to advance. Unfortunately, France and South Africa don't really have a chance.
Group B
Argentina is in! They won their first game against Nigeria 1-0. That, coupled with Gonzalo Higuain going on a scoring spree firing a hat trick (3 goals) to lead Argentina in a win over Korea Republic, virtually assures them a place in the Round of 16. Higuain leads all players with with 3 goals scored.

Korea Republic and Greece are fighting for the second spot with relatively even statistics. With Korea facing a dismal Nigeria, and Greece's final game against the the strong Argentina next Tuesday (June 22), it's a safe assumption that Korea will occupy the 2nd spot.

With the epic 2010 FIFA World Cup Kick-Off Celebration Concert behind them, Shakira found time today (June 11) to share pics with stage buddies John Legend, Alicia Keys and The Black Eyed Peas at the South Africa vs Mexico match in Johannesburg.

Africa vs Mexico Stats Roundup
The final shots were 5-5. They were 3-0 Mexico after the first half. Two yellow cards on each side. 58 % possession for Mexico. 5-4 for Mexico in corner kicks. No red cards.
After three minutes of extra time, the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Overall South Africa needs to be proud of their showing. Mexico dominated possession but it meant little as both teams had equal chances for the most part.
The draw is good news for Uruguay and France, as whichever team can win that match will have a good step up in the group. FIFA calls Tshabalala the man of the match for scoring the World Cup's first goal.
