Selena Gomez plays a brujita on television, but the "Wizards of Waverly Place" actress is a world renown hero in la vida real. How exactly does a 16-year-old chica conquer that role?
The Disney star remains a loyal advocate to a handful of organizations, including the political initiative UR Votes Count, the youth rescue foundation AmberWatch, UNICEF, and the animal rights group Conservation International, among others. Selena joined several Latina social activists like Cameron Diaz, Christina Aguilera, and Salma Hayek in honoring CNN's Top 10 Heroes of 2008 at Kodak Theatre in Hollywood yesterday.
We know our chiquita was secretly hoping to bump into her idol Salma again! She exclusively told Blogamole about the first time she ever met the Mexican actress:
I was actually having a heart attack not too long ago because I got to visit Salma Hayek at her office. I was so excited to meet her because when I was younger my family, and my dad in particular loved Salma. He always thought she was beautiful and even had a poster of her. I was like a little kid when I saw her…it was so exciting.
Yep, Ms. Hayek is a pretty big deal. That mamacita is the mother load of philanthropy! Sounds like Selena has learned from the best. [CNN]

Salma Hayek And Benicio del Toro Are Hooking-Up?

It's no secret that Salma Hayek is a single dama (at least for now), but is it true that she is hooking-up with Benecio del Toro?
The recent rumors are false, but Salma and Benecio may end up co-starring for a caliente new movie script. Word is that the "Che" and "Frida" actors were chosen to star in the latest Gabriel García Márquez adaptation for "Noticia de un secuestro." The film depicts the story of 10 kidnapped journalists in Colombia, and the jefe behind the madness is none other than legendary drug lord Pablo Escobar.
Benecio is bad ass enough to play Pablo, but being Salma's leading man is a totally different ball game. Si o no? [Es Mas]

First we saw her flex her comedic timing for Jimmy Kimmel's pre-Emmy special parody skit, but now the famous mamacita is getting the last laugh by developing a funny sitcom of her own. Word is that the Mexican actress and producer is working on a new comedy series for Fox titled "The New McToms."
The show is said to depict la vida of an up-tight mother who is faced with her three children marrying 'ethnically diverse' partners. The ingredients for a dramatically hilarious show are definitely there, but we wonder if Salma was inspired by a real life experience. ¿Qué tú crees? [Latina]

Despite initiating a very public split, Salma Hayek may be secretly dating her ex-novio Francois-Henri Pinault.
Word on la calle is that the exes have been suspiciously close since their break-up this past July, and were caught attending a surprise birthday party on Saturday. An insider reveals:
Salma Hayek could be forced to pay-up! The "Ugly Betty" beauty and her brother Sami were recently sued by their ex-employee Alejandro Artigas for "fraud, mismanagement, and/or abuse of authority."
Apparently Artigas used to manage an interior design company co-owned by Hayek and her hermano. In turn, her lawyer Bob Weiss quickly responded to allegations:
It was an investment deal that was no good for anyone, and we'll fight the lawsuit vigorously.
