Even though Pink Floyd has long broken up, one of their most famous albums continues to endure. 1979's The Wall sold over 23 million units and is coming back as part of an extravagant tour put together by Floyd mastermind Roger Waters. But what's most interesting is that Waters is giving Latin America a special "modified" live version.
Speaking with Rolling Stone, Roger explained that his new Wall experience will be specifically altered to fit in national fútbol stadiums. Waters plans to debut it when he plays Argentina, Chile, and Mexico.
"I desperately wanted to bring this tour to South America, but they don’t play basketball or ice hockey down there, and consequentially they don’t have arenas," he said. "I'm playing in soccer stadiums, and I've decided that the arena show that I produced of The Wall is not expansive enough to play in a soccer stadium. We'd made the wall a lot wider, and I've been working on the content. I've worked on ways that the audience can see that tiny bloke from a long way away."
Unfortunately that's all Roger would reveal to the magazine, leaving his "modifications" completely up to the imagination. But Latin American Floyd fans won't have to wait long to see what Wall he has in mind. The new tour kicks off on March 2.

This past week, Rolling Stone released its official list of the rock era's "100 Greatest Guitarists." Though they definitely got it right with their #1 pick (Jimi Hendrix is indeed a six-stringed god), they seemed to place Carlos Santana much lower than expected. The Supernatural axe man only scored #20!
Nevertheless, we're glad he made the cut. Carlos has been wailing guitar chords for over 40 years and created some of the most famous rock riffs in history.
RS offered a loving tribute to Santana on their "100 Best" profile. Describing his signature style, the magazine wrote,
"Santana's crystalline tone and clean arcing sustain make him the rare instrumentalist who can be identified in just one note."
Unfortunately, Carlos failed to crack their "Guitarist Top 10" (which included Eddie Van Halen, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page). But, if you ask us, the bigger crime is the exclusion of all the other axe-slinging Latinos. Perhaps they need to get a few more Juanes and Maná songs on their Playlist.

After the massive success of that "Worst Songs of the 90’s" poll, you knew the Miami Vice decade wouldn't be far behind. Yup, Rolling Stone has compiled another list of terrible tracks, this time from the good old 1980's!
Thankfully, Latin artists were spared this time out. There's no "Macarena" here. Instead, we've got blaring synthesizers, glam metal, and a bunch of nonsensical lyrics. Topping the list is the universally panned gem, "We Built This City" by Starship. Rolling Stone did the honors of adding its even more embarrassing music video to its site, which is downright painful to watch.
Following Starship is the obscure rock band Europe. Their signature track, "The Final Countdown," got trashed in the RS comments section, though we find it a tad catchy. Sure the lyrics are cheesy, but that keyboard riff is a great way to get you inspired before a workout.
And all you ballad haters, don't worry. There are plenty of lame slow songs thrown into the mix as well. Chris de Burgh's 1986 dud, "The Lady In Red" scored the list's coveted #3 slot, while Bobby McFerrin's "Don’t Worry, Be Happy" got ranked as #7.
In the soundtrack department, Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus" received a heavy blow from the RS critics. Hitting #6 on the list, it was mostly criticized for its incessant repetitive chorus. But it does hold an interesting record nevertheless. "Rock Me" was the first (and only) German-sung song to ever hit #1 on the Billboard charts.
Rounding out the list are classics like Toni Basil's "Mickey," Men Without Hats' "Safety Dance," and "Puttin' On The Ritz” by Taco (who is NOT Latino by the way). Even international superstar George Michael couldn't escape the 80's wrath. His Wham! hit "Wake Me Up (Before You Go Go)" placed fourth.

Ahh, the 1990's. The decade that brought us legendary Nirvana and Sublime albums also delivered some of the worst music ever laid to CD. And Rolling Stone is actually having quite a bit of fun with that concept by releasing the decade's "Worst Songs" list.
Sure music is interpretive and song tastes vary from person to person, but can anyone argue about the horrendous lyrics of "MMMBop?" Or the annoying chorus of "Tubthumping?" We didn't think so.
Actually those two songs are hardly the worst offenders of the bunch. According to Rolling Stone, the #1 most hideous song of the 90's is Aqua's 1997 gem, "Barbie Girl."
And for those of you curious about how Latino artists ranked on the list, it's interesting to note that Los Del Rio's 1994 "Macarena" craze earned the #2 slot. Yes it was overplayed, but was it really THAT bad? At least we got some exercise out of it.

Lady Gaga got a little cheeky on the latest cover of Rolling Stone (on newsstands June 23). Along with packing heat in her skivvies, Gagita spoke candidly about her self-esteem issues, the breakup that inspired her transformation from Germanotta to Gaga, and the music on her forthcoming LP.
The controversial singer plans to announce the title of her new album (due out early next year) at midnight on New Year's Eve — and mark the celebration with a little ink!

"I think I'm gonna get the album title tattooed on me and put out the photo. I've been working on it for months now, and I feel very strongly that it's finished right now. It came so quickly. Some artists take years; I don't. I write music every day."
On her insecurities, Gaga said, "When I wake up in the morning, I feel just like any other insecure 24-year-old girl. Then I say, 'Bitch, you're Lady Gaga, you get up and walk the walk today.'" Gagita went on to credit her East Village ex-boyfriend with her current success, telling the mag she wouldn't have been as successful if he hadn't broken her heart five years ago.
As for her current romantic status, Gagita has no plans to start a relationship anytime soon, stating that her most important relationship these days is with her fans. "Sex is certainly not, like, a priority at the moment," she revealed.
Gaga also shared that she's moved on from writing songs about her quest for fame to crafting tunes with an angry, perhaps political bent.
"Why are we still talking about 'Don't ask, don't tell'?" she said. "It's like, what f*cking year is it? It makes me crazy! And I have been for three years baking cakes — and now I'm going to bake a cake that has a bitter jelly. The message of the new music is now more bitter than it was before. Because the sweeter the cake, the more bitter the jelly can be."

Rolling Stone magazine threw a party for their latest cover girl Shakira last night at the Bowery Hotel in New York City. La Loba looked lovely in a black sequined jacket, loose white tank, sky high black pumps, and tight jeans. Pero fue su pelo that caught everyone's attention. Looks like Shaki is heading back to that twisted locks look.
What do you think? Love it or Hate it?
Shakira also accepted a plaque commemorating 1 million copies sold of her album's title track. Su nuevo album, She-Wolf, will be released en los Estados Unidos in two weeks. Will you pick it up?
