Who wasn't a fan of the original Schwarzenegger flick, "Predators"? With wild stunts, jungle showdowns, and classic lines ("Get To The Chopper!") , it most definitely deserves a place in the kick ass Hall of Fame.

"Predators" must have had a major influence on filmmaker Robert Rodriguez. Way before he was putting out family-friendly flicks like "Spy Kids," he was steeped in hardcore action ("El Mariachi," "From Dusk Till Dawn") that most certainly had its roots in some '80s classics.

In a recent online interview with IESB, Robert shared some 'Predator' love:

"The executives that I've worked with are just huge 'Predator' fans and that's why they wanted to do this movie. And why we're making it down here just to do our thing as fans. So that's what's kind of fun about coming and doing a reboot. Everybody knows what this movie should be. It should top all those other ones that we had before it and feel fresh. Feel new for a new generation because the character just is totally classic."

So what does Rodriquez have in store for our favorite deadlocked monster? As a producer, he's assembled a total A-list cast including Adrien Brody, Laurence Fishburne, and one of our all-time faves Danny Trejo (we can't wait for "Machete"!).

We are psyched to see the cast take on the Predator planet! No word yet if Ah-nold will make a cameo, but we're sure that Rodriguez will do just fine rebooting the alien shoot-em-up legacy.

"Predators" hits theaters nationwide on July 9.

“We didn’t cross the border, the border crossed us,” Jessica Alba declares in Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming film, "Machete." On Cinco De Mayo, and in the midst of SB 1070 protests, a new trailer for "Machete" was released — throwing a clear shot at Arizona.

(The trailer was pulled from YouTube, but you can still watch it at aintitcool.com!)

Perfect timing, don't you think? According to Harry Knowles of aintitcool.com, who premiered the hot clip, Rodriguez is calling this his "illegal" trailer. Knowles explained how the re-edited version of the director’s original featured in "Grindhouse" (2007) came to be:

“Robert talked Fox into letting him [Rodriguez] put together a Cinco de Mayo message for Arizona.”

In the film, Danny Trejo stars as Machete, a Mexican ex-federal who hunts corrupted politicians who have betrayed him. Two weeks ago, Trejo sat down with IGN movies to speak about the film:

"It is going to be awesome. We duplicate scenes from the trailer in the movie. What that movie has is the three B's, what I like to call the three B's. And what that is babes, bullets and blood. And then it's got machetes, too. The film takes off from the trailer and then it just gets so over the top. I think the movie really lives up to the trailer. I'm really, really proud of it."

Written and co-directed by Rodriguez, "Machete" features Latino favorites such as Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Cheech Marin and other Hollywood stars such as Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal and Lindsay Lohan.

"Machete" is scheduled to open on Labor Day weekend. We can't wait!

"They just f*cked with the wrong Mexican!"

Machete fans, your time has come. Robert Rodriguez's flick about the blade-wielding, ex-Federale will be released Labor Day weekend 2010, Variety confirms. "Machete" is based on Rodriguez's faux trailer for "Grindhouse," in which a mysterious day laborer (with a large knife collection) is hired to assassinate a Senator, only to be double-crossed and nearly killed. Now, he’s out for revenge.

Danny Trejo, who plays the lead, recently sat down with IGN Movies and had this to say about the upcoming film:

"It is going to be awesome. We duplicate scenes from the trailer in the movie. What that movie has is the three B's, what I like to call the three B's. And what that is is babes, bullets and blood. And then it's got machetes, too. The film takes off from the trailer and then it just gets so over the top. I think the movie really lives up to the trailer. I'm really, really proud of it."

Are you excited yet? If you like star power with your three B's, "Machete" has you covered: Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriquez, Lindsay Lohan, Steven Seagal, Cheech Marin and more play supporting roles.

Robert Rodriguez announced the latest addition to the 'Spy Kids' franchise, with an interesting twist — the cast will be entirely new. Rodriguez told Coming Soon the film will have “different kids, not the old kids.” Aw, but we love Daryl Sabara and Alexa Vega!

Spy Kids 3

Dimension Films officially announced that 'Spy Kids 4: All The Time In The World' will be released in August of 2011.

Rodriguez has been showcasing his versatility as a director and producer. With the soon-to-be released 'Predators' remake and 'Machete' (we loved that fake trailer in Grindhouse!) on deck, we're certain he'll continue to inspire the next wave of Latino filmmakers.

Sci-fi heads who have been following the new 'Predators' know that the film wrapped in the second week of January. It's a long wait until the July release, so enjoy this clip of director Robert Rodriguez from SXSW!

Among other tasty behind-the-scenes factoids, Rodriguez reveals that back in 1996 he was originally hired for 'Predators' as a writer.

If you can't wait for a taste of the new 'Predators,' perhaps some solace can be found in Alice Braga. The Brazilian actress plays gun-toting Isabelle in Rodriguez's revamp of the film series.

When speaking with MTV News at SXSW, Braga had this to say about her character:

"She's a girl from special forces. She's a tough cookie. She's a sniper. She jumps into the story and is trying to run for her life, which is classic 'Predator' films."

What do you think, Tr3s Comunidad? Does she have what it takes to be an action star? Judge for yourself — you can "analyze" her moves in Repo Men, in theaters now.

Looks like Calle 13 is going Hollywood with a little help from Rita Indiana Hernández! The musician/writer has just been hired to pen a script for an upcoming Calle 13 movie along with Puerto Rican Noelia Quintero, who directed Rita Indiana's "La Hora de Volve" video.

According to the Dominican Daily Diario LibreRita Indiana and Quintero are expected to hand in a script before summer. Regarding the plot, Quintero reported that Calle 13 has hand picked a few premises, and Hernández and Quintero will develop the script in full.

So why Hernández and not Robert Rodriguez? Rita Indiana is accomplished in her own right. She's already written a novel- La estratedgia de Chochueca, a play- Puentes,  and plays in three bands- Casifull, Miti Miti, and Los Misterios.  Looks like this Renaissance woman is adding one more title to her credit!

Will you watch Calle 13's story played out on the silver screen? Let us know in the comments!

The 1960s futuristic morning cartoon is about to make a 2010 comeback thanks to Robert Rodriguez.

The "Grindhouse" director may be used to crafting grittier box office hits, but he exclusively confirmed to MTV News that shooting for the live action version of "The Jetsons" will take place next year. Roberto also revealed that he continues to sit on the director's seat for the “Predator” and "Sin City" sequels. Expect him to be as robotic as George Jetson because he is also gearing up for “Machete” ("Grindhouse" spin-off) and working on a thriller titled “Nerverackers.”
