Shakira closed her World Tour "Sale El Sol'" with a Bang! After almost a year shaking her hips around the world and performing her biggest hits to sold out venues, Shakira ends her big tour in Puerto Rico, with a concert that is sure to go down in the pages of music history.
The Rabiosa Colombiana had already forewarned the Puerto Ricans that she had a few surprises up her sleeve for the closing shows in the "Enchanted island". Shaki presented on stage her friend René Pérez, lead Singer of Calle 13, and sang Gordita, a collaboration on her latest album.
The notoriously controversial René painted a hot message to the Colombian Beauty on his back: "Hoy soy tu Piqué" (Today I'm your Pique).
Gerard Piqué's girl seemed very happy with the surprise that René shared on stage culminating her concert with a heartfelt ovation by the Puerto Rican public.
René later tweeted:
"Bonito presentarme con la "goldita" en Puerto Rico. Cuando me tumben la censura los veo con toda la banda en concierto en SJ!"
René was the perfect ingredient to close this very special night for Shakira. The tour Sale el Sol started in Canada and hit about 40 countries, including, Russia, Spain, Portugal, France, The United Arab Emirates and the US.
Now that the tour is over, Shakira will certainly have some more time to spend with her sweetheart, the real Pique.
What do you think about Calle 13's René, calling himself Shakira's other Piqué?

Calle 13's newest music video "Latinoamérica", is out. The Puerto Rican reggaeton duo has created a beautiful blend of salsa, cumbia, and tango, but of course it wouldn't be a Calle 13 song without socially conscious lyrics.
The music video, features footage filmed throughout Latin America - it's actually part of the same footage that the co-director stepbrothers Jorge Carmona and Milovan Radovic shot, while filming their documentary Sin Mapa. It was released on DVD and iTunes on July and follows Calle 13 as they traveled throughout several Latin American countries on their tour.
Calle 13 was nominated for 10 Latin Grammys this year, two of which are for "Latinoamérica". René Pérez (Residente) y Eduardo José Cabra (Visitante) released their 4th album about a year ago, "Entren los que quieran".
This musical production is the most mature of all Calle 13's albums due to the strong eclectic rhythms and mix of different Latin-american genres, a style that the group has been developing, cultivating and perfecting in the 5 year span of its career.
After the launch of the controversial video for "Muerte en Hawaii", Calle 13 comes out with a stunning visual collage, a true representation of what Latin America really is!
What do you think of Calle 13's 'Latinoamérica'?

El President, Rene Pérez is stirring up trouble. The vocalist of Puerto Rican duo Calle 13 took to Twitter to question RBD’s singer Anahi’s Twitter following.
“Es possible que los artistas también compren seguidores en Twitter? Sospechoso el de Anahí ye el de Jon Secada. Jejeje” He continued to tweet, “Imposible tener 1 millón de seguidores y sólo 200 views en las fotos 'twitpic'... está raro eso.”

Anahí kindly responded by tweeting: “@Calle13Oficial Te admiro y respeto. No los compre fue algo q me ha sorprendido a mi tmbien. Esperando su Nuevo disco! Saludos! Buena vibra.”
El Presidente seems to have deleted his initial tweet, but recently brought back the topic by tweeting,
“la pregunta del otro día no tiene que ver con quien tiene mas seguidores si no con la mafia dentro de la industria de la música”
Thankfully it all seems to be settled and there is no tension between both artists.
You can catch more of El Presidente on Calle 13’s fourth studio album Los Que Quieran (November23rd).

As co-host of Los Premios MTV 2009, Calle 13's Residente, René Pérez took the stage and spotlight to highlight political issues that are close to his heart. He had as many wardrobe changes as Eva Longoria did at the 2009 ALMA Awards (if not more!), wearing a series of shirts with political statements about government officials from Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Honduras and Colombia. His red-carpet wardrobe caused a particular uproar with Colombian authorities.
Residente wore the shirt pictured above, which references the Colombian president, Álvaro Uribe. Furious by Residente's stance, Manizales mayor, Juan Manuel Llano, slapped Residente a way he knew would hurt, announcing earlier today that the Calle 13 concert in Colombia has been cancelled!
Llano told local radio:
"It is an insult to Colombians that someone of talent would use this to attack Colombians and especially our president. Manizales has decided under no circumstances or for any reason can this group take part."
Calle 13’s concert in Puerto Rico scheduled for Halloween weekend was also cancelled by a government official, Jorge A. Santini Padilla, mayor of San Juan. However, unlike Llanos, Santini did not blame Residente’s controversial statements about Puerto Rican governor, Luis Fortuno, as the cause of the cancellation. The reason Santini gave for calling off the concert was that the contract for the proposed concert venue, the Roberto Clemente coliseum, was not signed. Pero, based on the statement below, we think that Santini really just wanted to get back at Residente…
"Mr. Pérez will not be bothered by the decision, because I don’t think he is interested in benefiting economically from an event that was going to be held in a facility administered by government personnel for whom he has no respect." [New York Times]

Puerto Rico's fave couple, Calle 13 front man Residente and former Miss Universe 2001 Denise Quiñones, ended their relationship after 3 years together. Publicist for Calle 13, Shirley Rodriguez, confirmed the split telling Puerto Rican newspaper Primera Hora:
Yes, it's true. Neither of them are trying to hide the fact that the relationship is over. But I know that they will continue to be friends.

The pair met on the 2006 set of Nelly Furtado's music video "No Hay Igual" which featured Calle 13 and was shot in the La Perla neighborhood in San Juan. The couple blames their demanding schedules for the break-up as Quiñones has been working in NYC while René's been touring and promoting in Latin America. [PrimeraHora]
These two won't be single for long! But we do hate it when the beautiful break-up!
If you want to see how Rene is holding up catch him tomorrow night when he hosts Premios MTV 2009 with Nelly Furtado at 10pm only on MTV Tr3s.

We can't get enough of René this week!
Besides the brewing battle between him and fellow Boricua Ivy Queen, el Residente is still openly sporting his love for former Miss Universe Denise Quiñones. While Calle 13 was rehearsing in L.A. last night for their upcoming performance at the exclusive MTV Tr3s VMA Pre-Party, Residente not only walked in with Denise but dedicated his performance of "No Hay Nadie Como Tu" to his longtime novia.
Political, cute AND romántico! Denise better hold on to this one no matter what her padres say! It makes us wonder if the simulated wedding scene between Denise and René in the “Tango Del Pecado" video will soon happen in real life. ¿Qué piensas?
Be sure to watch FULL VIDEO COVERAGE OF CALLE 13's performance from the Tr3s VMA Pre-Party tomorrow, September 5th in the following places:

Word travels fast in el barrio! René Pérez recently decided to respond to Ivy Queen's supposed two-face ways.

According to reports, La Caballota has been hating on the Puerto Rican duo's six-Grammy win by calling them a fake urban rap group. Rumors eventually reached El Visitante's hood, which inspired the rapero to address La Reina's disses in the group's new track “Q lloren.”
