Lady Gaga, Mary J. Blige and Pink are amongst the divas to make Oscar’s Cut for 2012's Best Original Song, but unfortunately the Queen Diva, Madonna, did not get her nod because of rules of the Academy!

The Academy's list of 39 songs that could go on to win the Oscar has a little to please everyone, from indie to pop, to country, and R&B and even classical.

There's Lady Gaga and Elton John's duet with the song Hello Hello, featured in the animated Gnomeo & Juliet, Pink for Happy Feet TwoSinead O’Connor in a song co-written by Glenn Close for Albert Nobbs and Mary J. Blige for The Help.

There was one notable snub to the Diva of Divas because of the rules of the academy: MasterpieceMadonna's subtly named ballad from the historical romance she directed, W.E., was not eligible, as the HitFix blog reported. Madge's composition did have words and music, as required by the Academy, but it was not used in the context of the film which is the broken rule; instead it is heard over the closing credits, second after another piece of music. If it’s over the credits, it has to be the first song when the credits roll. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association were a little more forgiving; the song was nominated for a Golden Globe.

The list will be whittled down to five main contenders and the final nominees will be announced on 24 January (12).

Attention all monster and ghouls, it's that time of the year again! I can already smell the piles and piles of candy... hmmm. But before any of us can go out and party the night away, what are you going to wear?

Don't worry, I got you covered with this year's hottest Halloween costumes and some cool do it yourself tips that won't break the bank. This year it's all about standing out, so please put that old witch hat and bumblebee costume to rest.

Thinking about being a vampire this year? Sorry Twilight fans, but the hottest trend to re-appear this year are blood thirsty zombies thanks to the hit show The Walking Dead. This is a great costume that anyone can do with little to no effort, depending on how bloody you want to get.

Many stores like Ricky's NYC and Hot Topic carry fake blood that you can smear onto a shredded white T-shirt and tattered jeans. If you want to go all out, why not try a Lady Gaga-esque Born This Way zombie look? With a simple suit and outrageous face make-up you can transform yourself to this. If you want to be a zombie killer, you can dress up as one of the cops on The Walking Dead.

Any barbies out there? Of course, I'm referring to Nicki Minaj, who's crazy outfits have inspired a number of insane costumes this year. All you need is a brightly colored wig, preferably with blunt cut bangs, and the most colorful outrageous outfit you can put together (no giant trasero included). One look that we'll definitely be seeing this weekend is her controversial VMA outfit.

Speaking of controversial celebrities, what better way to remember Amy Winehouse than to be her? The buzz surrounding the premature death of the troubled singer earlier this year will definitely resurrect many Amy's this weekend. Unless you can do your own beehive and have long black hair, this costume requires the purchase of a beehive wig but that's about it. Pair this wig with a white tank, skinny jeans and exaggerated black eyeliner and you're good to go! You can even purchase temporary tattoos designed like Amy's very own, check these out from Amazon.

But who wants to be a dead person when you can be a wild animal? The hottest trend this year are furry animal hoods! Celebrities like Khloe Kardashian, Pink and Vanessa Hudgens have all been caught sporting the trend. You can really test your DIY skills by pairing the hood with other animal inspired clothing and boots or dressing it down like Pink.

If you want to go the royal route this year there are a ton of options. Princess Kate Middleton is a popular choice and for those of you have can't afford the royal price tag, there are many websites like Modern Mrs.Darcy that give excellent DIY tips on how to transform yourself into the royal beauty.

If you're not feeling particularly royal, how about an evil Black Swan? Natalie Portman's Oscar-winning role has given everyone ballerina fever. This look is easy to pull off with a black tutu, a black body suit and ballet flats. Beauty blogger extraordinaire, Michelle Phan, provides an amazing Black Swan make-up tutorial. Phan also gives equally great make-up tutorials for classics such as Catwoman, Disney Princesses and Lady Gaga!

Want to get inspired? Check out American Apparel's DIY Halloween Contest and as Lady Gaga would say, please be safe out there little monsters because you never know what tricks the night has up its sleeve...

What will you dress up as this Halloween?

Ahh summer 2011, we hardly knew you. Now the leaves will turn, the days will shorten, and we'll be stuffing our face with a lot more pumpkin pie. But before waving goodbye to the Sie7e beach jams and fun movie escapes, we had one more glorious holiday known as Labor Day weekend. Hopefully you made the most of your Monday off, because it's clear that our favorite celebrities did.

Christina Milian spent her Labor Day partying it up in Las Vegas. The paparazzi snapped her wearing a zebra bikini top at the Palms Resort. As a special guest of Diddy's casino pool party, she seemed to be all smiles lounging in the sun.

Over in Malibu, CA, tons of celebs dropped by the beach town's local carnival. Pink made an appearance with hubby Corey Hart and her adorable three-month-old daughter. Seen laughing, smiling, and nibbling on a Sno-Cone, the "So What" singer rode the Funhouse multiple times.

Nicole Richie
was spotted there as well, with lookalike daughter Harlow in tow. Though Richie didn't brave quite as many rides as Pink, she seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the carnival games and petting zoo.

Victoria Beckham made a big appearance at L.A.'s outdoor Grove mall on Saturday. Followed by tons of paparazzi cameras, the former Spice Girl took her newborn daughter Harper out for a "stroll".

Tabloid cameras also got a glimpse of Will Smith over the weekend, hanging without wife Jada Pinkett-Smith. The Men In Black star was spotted with a set of nine irons on a So Cal golf course. The Mrs. meanwhile, hit the Twitterverse to confirm news about her cable show's cancellation.

"Hey everyone…if you don't know Hawthorne will not be returning for another season. I want to say thank you to all the fans for being Hawthorne soldiers. All our facebook fans…twitter soldiers and viewers…you held us down. Of course you know there is more to come…believe it!", she posted.

Hawthorne regular Marc Anthony was nowhere to be seen, but his ex J. Lo didn't take any time to rest over Labor Day weekend. She made a very publicized appearance on the annual MDA Telethon, helping the muscular dystrophy organization raise over $60 million.

How did you spend your Labor Day? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.

New York' NYC Pride parade this year was euphoric because of the legalization of same-sex marriage, which turned the celebration into a huge engagement party. Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the law late Friday, which is estimated to bring around $284 million to the state's economy, according to a report by the Independent Democratic Conference.

Celebrities showed their support throughout the weekend and here are some of their tweets:

"I can't stop crying. We did it kids.  The revolution is ours to fight for love, justice+equality. Rejoice NY, and propose. We did it!!" - Lady Gaga

"Time to celebrate!!! Marriage Equality for NYers! Its about... love!" - Ricky Martin

"I'm thrilled about the news from NY. Marriage equality! Every day we get a little closer. What an amazing feeling." - Ellen DeGeneres

"tonight we're all New Yorkers! Straight & gay alike, let's all celebrate marriage (hash)equality. The right side of history!" - Kathy Griffin

"Alec! Now we can get married!" - Steve Martin to Alec Baldwin, on Twitter.

"Ok. But if you play that ... banjo after eleven o'clock..." - Baldwin's response.

"I sing it every night, but now it has better meaning: 'New York- concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there's nothing you can't do.' :) As if I didn't already have enough to celebrate and enjoy today. A big hug for New York from my lone hotel room in London." - Darren Criss

"Proud to be FROM NY! - Lindsay Lohan

"I have never been prouder to be a lifelong New Yorker than I am today with the passage of marriage equality." - Cyndi Lauper

"happy gays r here again !!!!!" - Rosie O'Donnell

"As a proud New Yorker, I applaud the work of our state gov't and all of the advocates on tonight's vote to legalize same sex marriage." - Russell Simmons

"CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! ABOUT TIME!"-  Pink

"NEW YORK! I [love] U! You're OFFICIALLY the coolest place on the planet!" - Katy Perry

What do you think about same-Sex marriages in New York?

31-year-old singer Pink (Alecia Moore) gave birth last night to her first child with motocross racer hubby Corey Hart.

The baby girl was born in LA at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, in which Pink and Hart checked in early on Thursday June 2nd.

The couple chose the name Willow Sage Hart for the baby. Shortly after giving birth, Pink went straight to Twitter to share the fantastic news with the world:

"We are ecstatic to welcome our new beautiful healthy happy baby girl, Willow Sage Hart," she tweeted. "She’s gorgeous, just like her daddy. #beyondblessed"

Pink and hubby Corey Hart married in Costa Rica in 2006. They separated in 2008 and reconciled in February 2010.

Congratulations to both!

Last week, Pop star Pink confirmed she and husband motocross star Carey Hart are expecting! This is the first child for the couple!

Image : Getty Images

A source told UsMagazine.com:

"She's 12 weeks along. She wanted to do it between tours, when she has some time off."

Of course Pink and Hart's relationship hasn't always been this solid. La pareja married in January 2006, separated in early 2008, and then got back together in the spring of 2009.

The source also told Us:

"Pink was determined to make the relationship solid. Now she's really happy, and she's excited she got pregnant so fast! She'll be a brilliant mother."

While we're most certainly raising our glasses to Pink, there may be one more mami-to-be we should toast too. After performing at the Latin Grammy's last week, reports started circulating that Nelly Furtado may be expecting baby #2! The songstress graced the stage in a tight black dress that left very little to the imagination and seemed to expose a baby bump!

Babies, babies, babies! We're definitely on full bump watch! Felicidades a los dos!

Leave your well wishes for Pink and Nelly. Sound off in the comments or @MTV3!

November is officially new music month! Kanye West, Nikki Minaj, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Pink, Kid Cudi, Kid Rock, N.E.R.D, and more are all scheduled to drop some of the most anticipated albums of the year later this month. And while Tr3s is eagerly anticipating the upcoming hip hop, rock, pop, and R&B that will inevitably be added to our iPods, the one album at the top of our playlist request list is Puerto Rican duo Calle 13’s fourth studio album Los Que Quieran, which hits stores November23rd.

Image : Wikimedia

The LP promises to be a mix of genres and sounds that tackles a range of topics including personal freedom, cultural unity and conformity. What else would we expect from the socially conscious alternative rappers!

Our pals over at Latina.com spoke to the usually quiet Eduardo José Martínez (aka Visitante) about the music and his controversial partner in crime. Here’s what he had to say:

What does “Entren Los Que Quieren” mean to you?

"It means that everyone’s invited to enter. If you don’t want to, well don’t."

What are some of the musical influences in this record?

"'Calma Pueblo' has a Beastie Boys vibe. Mars Volta’s Omar Rodriguez participated in that track, which has a rock edge to it. “El Baile de los Pobres” has a Bollywood vibe with electronica and strings. We mixed South American rhythms together for a song called “Latino America.” The album is both strong and soft."

Was there any sound that you refused to use?

"We said no to reggaeton. I wouldn’t do anything with bachata. But you can never say never. I never thought I’d make a merengue song [like “Vamo’ A Portarnos Mal”]. Anything can happen."

You have some great collaborators on this record—Susana Baca, Totó La Momposina. Who else would you like to work with?

"It would be awesome to work with Bjork and Paul McCartney."

What’s your favorite track on the album?

"'Preparame la Cena.' It’s a song about being imprisoned. Sometimes you can be imprisoned and still be outside. The song is going to be used for [the HBO Latino series] Capadocia."

You guys have made a lot controversial songs. Do you ever disagree with Rene about an issue?

"In this album there’s a song about love—I mean love, love, love. I didn’t agree with that song. I have my issues with love. Love is a complicated topic."

What’s next for Calle 13?

"We’re putting together a documentary about our trip to Havana. We have to go back and finish it. It’ll be out next year. We also want to do another trip like the one we did in Sin Mapa. But that’s just a conversation at this point."

Are you counting down Calle 13's new release? Sound off in the comments, or @MTV3.

We were all wowed by Pink's “Glitter in the Sky” Grammy performance earlier this year, but those acrobatic displays may be put on hold for a while.

The pop star was recently injured during a concert in Germany, after a gear malfunction sent her crashing into the audience, clipping a barricade then falling about eight feet onto the arena floor. Ouch!

Pink
Pink in 2009

We knew Pink was tough but she made that even more apparent by getting back on stage to apologize before being taken to the hospital. What a trooper!

After the incident, Pink gave an explanation of the mishap via Twitter:

“@PinkFacts didn't get clipped in2 harness correctly, drug me off stage, fell in2 barricade. Getting xrays. I hope it at least looked cool!!!”

Then, in true Pink form, she talked trash:

“Ok all my lovers out there- nothings broken, no fluid in the lungs, just seriously sore. I made that barricade my b*tch!!!! Thanx nurnberg:( “

"okay. full steam ahead people.no pain, no gain. or is it no brain, no pain? either way, i will be on that stage, even if i have to crawl:)“

Gotta love that girl's resilience!

Pink is currently holding down her Funhouse Summer Carnival Tour. If she recovers from her injuries in time, her next show is scheduled for Saturday (July 18) in St Petersburgh at the Tuborg Festival in Germany.

There were plenty of over-the-top moments during Sunday night's (January 31) 52nd annual Grammy Awards, but none of them could outshine Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.

Yes, the dynamic duo — who were nominated for a combined 16 Grammy Awards — took home 10 of them, with Beyoncé winning six, including Song of the Year, and Swift snagging four, including the night's biggest trophy, Album of the Year.

Swift's three other Grammys came in the country category, with Fearless winning Best Country Album and her hit "White Horse" grabbing Best County Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Beyoncé's haul was spread out across many categories. "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" won three Grammys, for Song of the Year, Best R&B Song and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. "Halo" won for Best Pop Female Vocal Performance, and her version of Etta James' "At Last" took home the award for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance.

"This has been such an amazing night for me," Bey said while accepting her Best Female Pop award. "I'd like to thank my family, including my husband [Jay-Z, just in case anyone didn't know]. I love you."

Following close behind Beyoncé and Swift were a few artists who won three Grammys, including Jay-Z (Best Rap Solo Performance, Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration) and the Black Eyed Peas; Eminem took home two awards; and Lady Gaga won two of her own (though both were during the pre-televised ceremony).

But for all the award-accepting merriment, it was the performances that shined brightest on this Grammy night. Or at least they shined the loudest. Show producers gave out only a handful of awards during the actual telecast, deciding to focus instead on the talents they had assembled inside the Staples Center, and that talent delivered, with one massive spectacle after the next.

Lady Gaga kicked off the show with a theatrical version of "Poker Face" — which featured a steam-powered set dubbed "The Fame Factory," some flames and a pair of seriously sparkly shoulder pads — then welcomed Elton John to the stage for a dueling-piano take on Gaga's "Speechless." And, in keeping with the rather flamboyant nature of both artists, show producers made sure their conjoined piano was topped with severed mannequin arms.

It was a pretty epic opening, but Beyoncé didn't back down from the challenge. She stormed into Staples with an army of riot-gear-clad escorts, then got down to belting out a fiery version of "If I Were a Boy," complete with a shredding backing band and a brief foray into Alanis Morissette's "You Oughta Know." She wrapped up her performance by channeling her inner Tina Turner, dropping to her knees and singing for the rafters. By the time B had gotten to her feet, so had the audience, who showered her with applause.

Pink got aerial (and soaking wet) during her performance of "Glitter in the Air," which saw her wrapped in linen, sent soaring above the crowd at Staples, then dipped into a pool of water. The Black Eyed Peas rattled the roof with a booming medley of their hits, which featured a battalion of electric-clad dancers, Fergie donning her Robocop finest and Will.I.Am rocking an inexplicable black molding of his head on his head.  And Lil Wayne, Eminem, Drake and Travis Barker roared versions of Weezy's "Drop the World" and D's "Forever," though, judging by the frequent audio drops, it would seem the network censors got a little too anxious with the "delay" button.

There was also a 3-D tribute to the late Michael Jackson to "Earth Song," while 3-D images played around the performers and featured unintentionally comical shots of stars like Rihanna, Beyoncé and Will.I.Am wearing their 3-D glasses in the audience. It will probably be remembered best for what happened next, as two of Jackson's children — son Prince and daughter Paris — accepted an honorary lifetime-achievement award in their father's memory.

"I want to thank the fans, our father loved you so much," Prince said, his voice wavering slightly. "We will continue to spread his message and help the world."

"Daddy was going to be here; he was going to perform this year, [because] he couldn't perform last year," his daughter Paris added. "Thank you. We love you, Daddy."

It was an emotional moment in a night largely bereft of themand Wyclef's from-the-heart speech about his native Haiti — in which he spoke in Creole and thanked the world for their support, before adding, "We will continue" — did manage to tug on the heartstrings.

But this night will probably be best remembered for Beyoncé and Swift's dominance, not to mention the sheer spectacle of the performances, which proved that even in dour times, the music industry knows how to throw a party — a massive, eye-popping, over-the-top one at that. (MTVNews)
