Ok, before you get too excited about this story let us preface it with one thing; Penelope Cruz will NOT be getting naked for PETA. But, she will be headlining a campaign that speaks out against wearing fur.
As we all know, PETA has become famous for getting stars to bare all for its animal rights campaigns. And while Penelope will be showing a little bit of skin for her ad, it will only be shot from the neck up.
Cruz' poster will feature the headline "Give Fur The Cold Shoulder," with an image of (you guessed it) the back of her shoulder. But it's an important message nonetheless and it’s about to get plastered all over New York City's Penn Station.
PETA's Senior Vice President Lisa Lang summed up the concept in a recent statement to Us Weekly,
"Penelope has appeared on every 'best-dressed' list in the world, and the one thing you'll never see her wearing is fur. PETA couldn't ask for a more fitting emblem of the modern, glamorous woman who knows that there's nothing more beautiful than a woman who has a look that kills without anyone having to die for it."

Something tells us Matt Damon won't be appearing in any PETA ads in the near future. The Contagion star recently smiled for the paparazzi at a gritty bullfight in Mexico's La Monumental stadium.
It's a little unclear what Matt was doing ringside for the toro festival (neither his Latina wife nor his famous friends were spotted with him). Could he have been researching an upcoming matador role? Damon was certainly not talking to the press and even appeared to be incognito, dressed in a dark jacket and baseball hat.
Though bullfights have been a Latin American tradition for centuries, many animal rights groups have criticized the sport, calling it inhumane. In fact, Matt may already be experiencing a bit of backlash for his appearance (and apparent cheering) at the event.
According to The Daily Mail, Damon was just killing time on a day off from shooting his new movie Elysium. Perhaps if he wanted to avoid the bad press, he should've spent the afternoon hanging out with Diego Luna instead.

Forget triathlons, if you really want to get your heart racing you should head to Pamplona, Spain. Yesterday, hundreds of locals and tourists partook in the annual "running of the bulls," which thankfully led to only a few bumps and bruises. Pamplona hosts bull runs for eight days every July.
Thrill-seekers from all over the world threw on their white outfits and sprinting shoes for the adrenaline-pumping ritual. When interviewing participants, Fox News Latino even wrangled up some Californians who flew out for the festivities.
"Anything we heard before doesn't even compare to what really happened," said West Coast local Allison Byrne. "It was hard to watch that knowing that our husbands are down there. It was exciting and exhilarating, but I'll never do [this] again. I'm still shaking."
Alison actually had a good reason to be nervous. Four people had to be rushed to the hospital after being poked by speeding steer horns. But that pales in comparison to the damage that has happened in previous years. Back in 2009, a Spanish local was killed after being gored in the streets.
Believe it or not, the running of the bulls has been an ongoing tradition for nearly 400 years. The concept is simple; outrun a stampede of toros across a 928-yard stretch. Certain brave participants even integrate the color red into their wardrobe to make the chase that much more dangerous.
Not surprisingly, some groups are not huge fans of the bull runs. Though the pastime isn't considered as inhumane as bullfighting, there are questions about how the animals are treated before they're released from their pens.
One of the steers from yesterday's run seemed to suffer a serious injury, leading it to collapse in the middle of the street. But you'll have a hard time convincing the city of Pamplona to stop its lucrative pastime. It is reported that nearly one million tourists descend on the city for the event. Let’s just hope they all get to leave in one piece!

Sir Paul McCartney has said that if slaughter houses had glass walls, everyone would be vegetarian. The iconic musician from The Beatles even appears in an eye-opening, heart wrenching video on the PETA site that allows anyone to take a peek at what happens inside a slaughter house, and trust me, you ought to have a good stomach to watch the video from start to finish! These are the images meat producers don't want any of us to see, taken by undercover PETA members infiltrated as employees.
Hundreds of animal-loving celebrities have dedicated themselves to use their image to promote animal rights and stop animal cruelty in slaughter houses, laboratories and in the entertainment industry.
PETA itself (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) created in 2001 a yearly nomination for the sexiest Vegetarian celebrity, and this year Russell Brand and Kristen Wiig were given the tittle of "2011 Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrities".
Katy Perry's hubby has been vegetarian since he's 14 and has blatantly declared,
"You shouldn't eat animals, it's mean to them"
Meanwhile the 37 year old "Bridesmaids" star has said she is a huge fan of tofu and soy and that ever since she's been vegetarian, she has more energy, looks younger, and feels healthier!
So just in case you still haven't decided to change that hamburger for a sexier and yummier veggie tofu wrap, maybe a glance of a list of stars who have got the sexiest celebrity nomination in earlier years might serve as great motivation:
Shania Twain, Tobey Maguire, Natalie Portman, Lauren Bush, Josh Hartnett, Alicia Silverstone, Carrie Underwood, Chris Martin, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kristen Bell, Prince, Red Hot Chili Peppers' Anthony Kiedis, Leona Lewis, Olivia Wilde and NBC's The Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper.
Would you follow their lead and consider going vegetarian?

One can only imagine what it would be like to work for PETA’s advertising department. In the past few years, the group's photographers have gotten stars like Alicia Silverstone and Khloe Kardashian to go naked for their anti-fur campaigns. Now it can add Cuban-born model Vida Guerra to the list, as she recently stripped down to promote veganism.
Speaking about on her anti-meat stance, Vida acknowledged she didn’t always adhere to the fruit and veggies diet.
"I was born in Cuba, where there are only pigs and chickens to eat,” Guerra told Celestrellas. “It's what so many Latin families grow up eating, because we're so used to it. Our parents instill it in us and we continue the tradition, which turns into a vicious cycle."
She’s hoping her new sexy photo shoot may convince others to change their carnivorous ways. The former FHM cover girl was photographed completely nude and immersed in dozens of red chili peppers. She added that the vegan lifestyle was a major contributor to her being in such incredible shape.
“We're so used to eating meat, and being vegan offers so many more benefits, including the reduction of cholesterol and heart disease, if we eliminate red meat and dairy from our diets. I challenge people to try it for 30 days, and afterward evaluate their lives and see if they don't feel a little healthier, more energetic and able to sleep better."

Having multiple births may bring you fame, but octomoms have to eat too.

The Associated Press reported Thursday morning that Nadya Suleman recently signed a deal with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
In exchange for putting a sign in front of her yard proclaiming, "Don't Let Your Dog or Cat Become an Octomom. Always Spay or Neuter," Suleman will receive $5,000. The animal rights organization confirmed on Wednesday it would also throw in a month's supply of veggie burgers and veggie hot dogs for Suleman and her 14 children, who range in age from 1 to 8.
Does this sound depressing? It could have been worse. Nadya Suleman turned down
an offer from Vivid Entertainment this week to star in a porn film. Co-chairman Steven Hirsch had announced his company would pay off Suleman's mortgage, a deal the controversial mom rejected.
Despite being in the spotlight and receiving occasional sponsorship, Suleman's family is struggling financially. Her father, Ed Doud, has defaulted on a $450,000 balloon payment on a half-million dollar house he bought last year for the family to live in, mortgage holder Amer Haddadin told AP on Wednesday.
Suleman's lawyer, Jeff Czech, said earlier this week his client's father was hoping to work something out, he was blunt when it came to the balloon payment: "Mr. Doud at this moment doesn't have $450,000 to pay off," he said.
Octomom's financial stability has been an issue since she made medical history in 2009. Although the family is struggling to support so many children, AP reports that Suleman has been photographed shopping at expensive stores, getting manicures and working out.
In the aftermath of news that Suleman's multiple birth was the result of fertility drugs, a flurry of incorrect assumptions based on race and class permeated the Internet.
Many people assumed that because Nadya had such a large family, she was Latino. Suleman's father is an Iraqi immigrant and her mother is said to be Ukranian. Gutierrez is the name of Nadya's former husband.
Latinos are not the only ones with big families, people!

Tony also said, "It's nice to be looked at."
Um...we bet it is! We'll be staring at this all afternoon! [Bossip]

One of the Latina stars of Ugly Betty, Ana Ortiz, has taken action on behalf of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and written a letter urging the President of the National Council of La Raza to refrain from any future partnerships with McDonalds. McDonald's was the sponsor for the NCLR's conference this year in Chicago.
La razón behind Ana's plea: unfit working conditions and cruel slaughter practices. In her letter, she cites poor wages paid to workers, many of whom are Hispanic immigrants, and goes on to give some graphic description about the company's methods of killing the chickens.
What do you guys think of all this??

Lydia Guevara is following in the footsteps of her legendary grandfather...
By joining otra revolución...the vegetarian one that is. She is partnering with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) for their South American animal rights campaign set to launch this October in Argentina (Che's birthplace). PETA reached out to Lydia Guevara after finding out she was a vegetarian.
La bella Lydia will be plastered on posters reading "Join the vegetarian revolution" -- pretty nifty huh? The 24-year-old is featured in the ads wearing a beret and ammunition belts holding carrots instead of bullets, undoubtedly paying homage to Che. This is the org's first venture in South America - do you think it will be a successful one? [peta.org]

Wilmer Valderrama joins the quickly growing list of Latino celeb activists with his new PETA misión.

In it, Wilmer takes viewers behind-the-scenes of the big top for a look at the lives of abused animales and urges familias to boycott these shows.
He also talks about his own experiences with the circus as a child in Venezuela. Find out his thoughts after the jump!
