Get ready for the "Year of the Latina." At least, in the magazine world that's what it may turn out to be. The New York Times recently reported that quite a few publishing moguls are planning to target Hispanic women in 2012, starting with the launch of Cosmo Latina.

Yup, the editors of Cosmopolitan are now expanding their reach with a new Latina-based publication that will hit newsstands in early May. As of right now, it will be a seasonal brand, with new issues arriving in the spring and the fall.

Cosmo publishing director, Donna Kalajian Lagani, explained how their brand is a great tool to connect to Latina readers.

"Today, Cosmo reaches nearly one in four Hispanic women in the U.S. over the age of 18 and is the number one monthly magazine in English that reaches Latinas," she explained. "Advertisers are focusing sharply on the Hispanic market, but the untold story is that the new generation of Latina is consuming her media in English, and is looking for content that is just for her. We feel that Cosmo is uniquely positioned to help advertisers reach this audience."

Of course, Cosmo Latina will have to compete with the original Latina Magazine, which already has a pretty strong hold on the Hispanic female audience (and a few guys too, thanks to that sexy Christina Milian cover). Interestingly, in the past year alone, the amount of Latina ad pages increased by over 11 percent.

Other popular mags like People en Español and Siempre Mujer also saw significant spikes in ad revenue for 2011. So with that in mind, we expect tons more “Latina” adaptations to come. Maybe Home & Garden Latina? Sports Illustrated Señoritas? Or perhaps a little Maxim en Español?!

We can only imagine the difficult decisions that were being made at People en Español last month. Selecting their annual "Estrellas del Año" is not an easy task (especially when you consider all of the year's newsworthy Latinos). Ultimately they chose Galilea Montijo, Monserrat Garcia, and Adamari Lopez, which makes perfect sense to us.

Galilea and Monserrat are coming off of a huge year. As we reported earlier, their Pequeños Gigantes series scored some bombastic ratings this season, even beating competitors in the English market.

Montijo proved to be an engaging and lively host, while Garcia wowed the crowd with her many Pequeños talents. At just six years old, Monserrat may hold the record for People’s youngest "Estrella" and she more than deserves the recognition.

Adamari has had an incredible year too. Since her highly publicized split from Luis Fonsi, Lopez has taken her fame to new heights with acclaimed performances in the Vagina Monolgues and Mira Quién Baila.

Congrats to all three cover girls on this latest honor!

The verdict is in. People En Español readers have voted Jencarlos Canela as their choice for the Sexiest Man of 2011. Readers were asked to elect their favorite among the 15 candidates featured in their October issue by voting online at the magazine's website.

This hunky singer/actor has proven to be a favorite among People en Español readers after being also picked as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People of 2011, as well as one of the most well-dressed men of 2011. He was number 26 on the Most Beautiful People list, ranking higher than William Levy and Sofía Vergara.

Jencarlos has been quite the busy bee lately, and I don't just mean by focusing on his looks. He continues to work on the Telemundo telenovela Mi corazón insiste...en Lola Volcán and on promoting his latest album, Un Nuevo Dia, which features Pitbull and El Catá joining him on the hit "Baila, Baila."

Canela beat actors William Levy and Mark Tacher for the top spot in People's recent sexy list. With so many beefcakes to choose from, it was quite the honor!

Would you have voted Jencarlos Canela as People in Español s Sexiest Man of 2011, or does someone else deserve that spot?

Kate del Castillo and Aaron Díaz are facing the biggest public relations crisis of their marriage.

Magazines, blogs, tweeter posts and gossip shows have devoted themselves all this week to rumoring about the couple's apparent imminent separation.

The cause seems evident; both, Kate and Aaron have kept working nonstop during most of 2010 and 2011 in different continents. Kate has been starring in the hit TV series "La Reina del Sur" in Spain, and although it already wrapped, she has been promoting it in several different countries.

Aaron has also kept busy back in Mexico starring on the soap opera "Teresa", recording his album (which included the main theme for "Teresa") and even posing for a photo calendar. Recently he has been preparing to shoot the TV series “Chanoc”

All this has gotten the Mexican press busy investigating if an official separation might be inevitable.

Usually, when rumors circulate like this, theyre mostly not true… Yet what set off the real alarm was not the gossip, but rather, Kate del Castillo's reaction.

The actress, who's usually incredibly private and never shares or discusses her private life in public, instead of ignoring the rumors and keep going on about her life, decided to devote herself these past few days to post on Twitter several pictures of her and Aaron apparently relaxing in their home in California.

On June 14 the Mexican actress tweeted a pic taken from a balcony, where you can see Aaron, far away sunbathing by the pool.

In another tweet Kate said,

“We send you a kiss from our home with love”

In the picture (above), Kate hugs Aaron, who seems to be taking a nap. The actress smiles at the camera while Aaron keeps his eyes closed, indifferent to the picture.

What sets off all the alarms is the fact that Kate herself would be so interested in shushing the rumors.

Yesterday, she re tweeted a post by People en Español in which the magazine informs their readers about the tweets.

Our take? We think Kate is looking desperate this time, doing some heavy-duty damage control….  The thing is, you don't do damage control when there's no damage in the first place!

Kate should learn about gossip victim pro's  Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. The pair has been victim of separation forecasters for years. Their reaction? None whatsoever! They don't post pics, they don't react to gossip.

They might or might not have problems as a couple, yet we'll only know the day they actually separate! And that's the way it's done!

People en Español got quite the cover story this week. In an exclusive sit-down interview, Aventura frontman Romeo Santos talked about his 10-year-old son Alex, who many fans didn't even know existed.

Posing next to his lookalike hijo, Romeo confessed that he hasn't always been the best father figure to Alex. Originally when he found out his ex-girlfriend had became pregnant, Santos (who was then only 19) walked away and acted like, as he puts it, a "coward."

"No fue planeado y huí como un cobarde", Romeo admitted "[Nuestra relación] era como de lejitos. Decía: ‘no, no, no’. Sentí que era un niño teniendo a un niño y me alejé por dos años".

But now, it looks like father and son have definitely patched up their relationship. And we're sure little Alex is now very proud of his famous daddy. Especially when you consider that Romeo's "You" single is still the #1 on Billboard Latin Song charts.

Poor Shaki! The Colombian singer's facial expression showed complete shock after being robbed by a fan during a concert performance in Monterrey, Mexico.

Shakira walked off stage to salute the crowd and suddenly she stopped singing, stared at her hand, and realized someone snatched her ring! Instead of reacting harshly, the pop star gracefully continued on with her performance. The thief was briefly caught on tape, but we are pretty sure they are off selling the stolen merchandise for thousands on eBay right now.

If Shakira recently donated $400,000 to schools in Haiti, we doubt she is crying over a stolen ring.

What would you have done in her position?

Team Blogamole is melting, and it's not just from the sweltering heat: Ricky Martin is on the cover of People En Español's Father’s Day issue and it's the most adorable thing we've seen all week!

Ricky Martin

According to Guanabee, the magazine used an old (but still cute) photo of Ricky and his twins, perhaps to capitalize on the sensation surrounding the pop star's recent disclosure about his sexuality.

The firs time Ricky Martin posed with his twins for a magazine was in 2008, but this cover will be the first time he has done so as an openly gay man. The new issue hit newsstands this week, despite the fact that father's day is still weeks away in the United States, Puerto Rico and several other Latin countries.

In any case, props to Armando Correa, the current editor of People en Español and an openly gay man and father of two children. We can't get enough of Ricky's adorable family photos.

If you think drunk dialing is humiliating, then consider misspelling in the celebrity Twittersphere the ultimate embarrassment — just ask La Chica Dorada.

Paulina Rubio

We reported Paulina Rubio's pregnancy news, which she happily shared via Twitter a few days after winning the Billboard Latino Award for "Latin Pop Airplay Artist of the Year." Now, the mama-to-be has apologized to fans for her use of improper grammar.

No, seriously. The "Cause y Efecto" singer says she has a good reason for spelling ilusión with a "c" - she wasn't actually the one to tweet the news!

La Rubio admits via Twitter that it was her gringa assistant who actually posted the news:

Queridos followers, en medio d la lluvia d compromisos pedí a mi new asst q es bien gringa mexicana q escribiera para todos mis fans y followers la gran noticia sobre q vamos a ser padres y si al ser escito por alguien americano/mexicana se le fue en mi dictado d algun error d ortagrafia y al tener a todos en la mira por mi y mi nuevo baby!

Well, que isn't really spelled "q" either, but guess what Pauli? No one actually cares about grammar rules on Twitter! Well, maybe your high school English teacher, but we doubt they have many followers. Let's tweet on that!

People en Español has revealed their 2010 list of Los 50 Mas Bellos. Noticeably missing from this years list was 2009's cover girl Eva Longoria Parker - ouch!  Newcomers to la lista include celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton, and current Miss Universe, Stefania Fernandez, among others.

This year's special issue was released with four variant covers featuring seven of today's most popular Hispanic women -- and one very lucky guy.  In one version, Sofia Vergara and Belinda are joined by TV personality Daisy Fuentes, and telenovela actor Fernando Colunga. Las mujeres "Mas Bellas" appear in dresses by Marchesa, Prada, Herve Leger, and Jay Mendel, with jewelry by Loren Ridinger.

Vergara posed as one of Mexico's most memorable stars, the late Maria Felix, and had this to say about her solo shoot:

"It was fun styling my hair and makeup to look like her, and mimicking her facial expressions. I was captivated by the character."

For the third consecutive year, PeopleEnEspanol.com invited users to choose their favorite celebrity to be named in the magazine's "50 Most Beautiful" issue. With 10 celebrity nominations, and after a near tie with Mexican singer and actress Eiza Gonzalez, Telefutura's La Tijera presentador Rodolfo Jimenez won with 67% of the votes.

Check out the full list of los 50 Mas Bellos after the jump, and peep the sneak peek slideshow on People En Español for more photos.
