Ready to rock out (but oh-so-hipsterly) at this year's LAMC? The 9th Annual Latin Alternative Music Conference returns to the Big Apple on July 12th. As in past years, LAMC shows off the whos-who in Latin alternative, indie and rock music with panels and exhibitions, concerts and fiestas (of course -- what Latino doesn't know that adding a party to the mix makes the music even more enjoyable?).
This year LAMC and MTV Tr3s are giving you access to see artistas diversos perform at Central Park's Summer Stage. You'll be able to watch some of your favorite artists en vivo, including our chica del momento Julieta Venegas, the Mexican alternative rock band Plastilina Mosh and Chile's most promising export DJ Bitman. Based on what went down last year, this is not a weekend to miss. If you recall, LAMC 2007 went so well that we convinced VJ Carlos to ditch his preppy pop threads for a day and walk in the shoes (Converse of course) of card-carrying LAMC hipster.
Catch performer photos and more details after the jump...

And so should you! Current Descubre & Download artist Ximena Sariñana, whose unique style of jazzy pop has been garnering her mucha atención in the music scene, was in Nueva York recently and MTV Tr3s got to pick her brain about su música and what it means to be Latina. Check out what the 22-year-old Mexicana actriz/songstress had to say about it here:
Her time spent with MTV Tr3s left such a lasting impression on her that she blogged about it on her myspace page:
We couldn't have said it better ourselves! The food and the telenovelas - definately the staples of our cultura. Qué piensas? Why do you love being Latino?
Drum roll por favor....
This could be the biggest news of your day, or maybe your life (unless you're deemed the winner del concurso Pimpeando Pee Wee). Our favorite chico next door, who hinted at a solo career during Fiesta Broadway, is set to perform in two cities this summer.
Even if your Pee Wee banner didn't make the cut, there's reason to celebrate... you can see El Chiquillo live and direct! First he's hitting up his hometown of Houston, TX when he takes the stage at Verizon Wireless Theater on July 25. On July 27 he'll appear at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. Can't get enough of Mi TRL host extraordinaire Carlos Santos?
We can't either. Even though he's short on time (between updating his MySpace, hosting Mi TRL and serving as the office payaso there are only so many hours left in the day) we asked him to host another show. Each weekend you can get your fix of Carlos and today's hottest música with the new and improved Top 20 countdown show on Tr3s, premiering this Saturday, June 28th at 12PM EST.
In addition to our favorite boricua, you never know who might be chillin' behind-the-scenes, so stay tuned to catch celeb cameos throughout the season!
