El Presidente Barack Obama firmó una nueva reforma this Friday (August 13), alongside U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, to put $600 million into securing the border between the U.S. and Mexico.

This bipartisan immigration bill would employ an additional 1,000 agents to patrol la frontera, as well as more Immigration and Customs enforcement agents. La Casa Blanca dijo that Obama’s new immigration bill aims “to enhance technology at the border, share information and support with state, local and tribal law enforcement, and increase (federal) presence and law enforcement activities at the border."

Arizona’s Senator John McCain has said that the bill falls short in excluding a program that charges illegal immigrants with a low-level crime. El estado de Arizona ha estado en el centro de esta discusión, ever since Governor Jan Brewer’s SB 1070 immigration bill was signed and has since gone into effect.

The bill has stirred up much controversy, specifically because it is believed to encourage racial profiling on the part of the police officers who are forced to request documentation from anyone they “suspect” may be in the state illegally.

Though certain key parts of the law were blocked by District Judge Susan Bolton a few weeks ago, arrests have already been made and Border Patrol has been called upon to detain said suspects.

The entertainment world has been very vocal about their disagreement with SB 1070, whether it’s artists joining The Sound Strike and boycotting Arizona venues, o otros como Lady Gaga who voiced her opinion during a Phoenix concert, y Wilmer Valderrama quien compartió su punto de vista during an exclusive interview with Tr3s.

Dramatic headline aside, this is pretty awesome news. In the next season of director Pedro Torres’ popular murder series "Mujeres Asesinas 3," el actor cubano William Levy será asesinado por la cantante mexicana Belinda. So far, the murder plot sounds very juicy!

Rumor has it that Levy’s character is a bad, bad man who cheats on Belinda with both women and men. Then, when she refuses to have sex with him, he tries to take her a la fuerza (que horror!). A ella no le queda otro recurso but to try to defend herself and kill the man that hurts her.

It’ll definitely be a change of pace to see William no como el galán y héroe, but as the villain. Well, he does get murdered, but in this series we tend to be on the side of la asesina. Some other strong famosas will also be appearing on "Mujeres Asesinas 3" — new episodes begin September 21!

As we reported earlier, Dulce María as well as Thalía will be playing asesinas this season. Will you be watching?

The New York Yankees are on a roll! Not even a week after A-Rod smacked his 600th home-run out of the ballpark, Derek Jeter reached an impressive milestone of his own – passing Babe Ruth on the MLB all-time hits list!

The hit — placing Jeter 39th on the career hits list — came in the 2nd inning when the popular shortstop hit an RBI single in 7-2 win over the Boston Red Sox Sunday night (August 8).

Sorry guys, don't look to purchase this piece of history on Ebay because A-Rod scooped up the milestone ball as it rolled towards the Yankee dugout!

How poetic — the accomplishment occurred in Yankee stadium against their biggest rival! Jeter didn't even realize he passed “The Babe” with his 2,874th hit until he was serenaded by a loud ovation and the crowd chanted “De-rek Je-ter!”. The biggest hint: Giant side-by-side photos of himself and Babe Ruth on the scoreboard.

Jeter (being the cool guy that he is) simply acknowledged the crowd with a tip of his cap. Gotta love that dude!

"Obviously it means a lot to baseball, but especially to this organization," a very humble Jeter said after the game, "Any time you get a chance to pass [Ruth] in anything it's pretty special."

Maybe the laid-back approach comes from the Yankees Captain being no stranger to passing the “Greats”. He passed Lou Gehrig for the most hits in franchise history last September and is sure to keep advancing up the “hits list” as he only needs two more to pass hall-of-famer Mel “Master Melvin” Ott.

Perhaps Jeter will be a tad bit more emotional 125 hits later when he becomes the first player in franchise history to reach the 3,000-hit mark.

La artista mexi-americana announced via her Twitter yesterday that August 6 has been officially named “Jenni Rivera Day” in the city of Los Angeles. This would be in honor of both her artistic and philanthropic accomplishments, as Jenni is also the official spokesperson for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Wow!

Here’s what Jenni had to say about her newest accolade:

“OMG! OMG! OMG! Me acaban de informar que por mis logros profesionales y trabajos altruistas, la Ciudad de Los Angeles nombrará el día 6 de Agosto.. El dia oficial de JENNI RIVERA. Estoy SUPER felíz.!! Es muy emotívo para mi. Ésta noche me honrarán con el reconocimiento publicamente en mi presentación en el Nokía. Thank u FANS!”

Asi que, mark your calendars for next year, Angelinos, and celebrate with Jenni! We hope last night's performance at the Nokia in LA was made even better by this honor.

From a 17-year-old pop sensation, to a 22-year-old certified diva, we’ve watched Barbados native Rihanna truly blossom under the spotlight. Aunque ha pasado por momentos difíciles publicamente, she’s proven herself to be, well, as her song “Hard” describes it, “brilliant,
resilient.” And now she’s set to shine even more with an acting debut!

Though her role in the film remains a mystery, Rihanna’s set to star in Peter Berg’s film "Battleship" in May of 2012. The movie’s plot is based on the popular naval combat board game, where one fleet tries to block the advance of the other.

RiRi will be acting alongside "True Blood" star Alexander Skarsgard, and from "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," Taylor Kitsch, asi que no estará mal acompañada por ningún lado.

There’ve been many musicians who’ve jumped ship into the acting game, some are naturals, others have made us want to walk out of the theater and demand a refund. Let’s hope keep our fingers crossed that RiRi’s got the goods!

Que buena vida la de Demi Lovato! The Texas native, who’s had a nonstop acting and singing career since the age of 7, is now set to go on a national tour with the non-too-harsh-on-the-eyes
Jonas Brothers, plus other “Camp Rock 2” co-stars. Y como se prepara? She shops ‘til she
drops!

During a Chicago press junket on August 5th, Demi dished to MTV News about her favorite
pastime when visiting different cities on tour. "I'm a big shopper," dice ella. "Given the amount of
time that I have, I go to my favorite stores first, but then if I have time and I see a cute boutique
store, I'll go there."

And could there be a rekindled romance on the road? Demi shared a short-lived romance with
Joe Jonas earlier this year, which she admitted to in March, and ended in June. Pero como este par tiene que pasar tanto tiempo trabajando juntos, both on screen and on the road, we feel
there’s a good chance they could end up back together.

Ah Chicago peeps…how we envy you right now. Starting today (August 6), you get to experience Grant Park's massive Lollapalooza concert, featuring an awesome musical mix of both mainstream talent and hot up-and-comers.

For those who love the mass appeal artists, names like Lady Gaga, Green Day, and a reunited Soundgarden are not going to disappoint. But keep in mind, with over 100 bands, solo acts, and DJs set to perform, there’s a lot more to the 3-day concert than that!

Buried among the indie Danish rockers, French acoustic bands, and Canadian hip-hop stars, there are a slew of talented Latinos you should definitely keep your ears on. Here are a few that we’re extra excited about:

Cypress Hill
How could you not love the OG hip-hop unit Cypress Hill? They’ve been pumping out jams for over 20 years and have sold over 18 million albums worldwide. Plus, no matter how many decades go by, a live version of “Insane In The Brain” never gets old!

The Strokes
Another of the more mainstream bands performing, these guys broke the mold for indie rock back in the early 2000’s. Though not a full-blown Latino band, we’ve got mad love for Brazilian-born Fabrizio Moretti and the way he wails on those cymbals!

Los Amigos Invisibles
Straight from Venezuela, this six-piece ensemble delivers a smashing mix of disco, acid jazz, and funk! They’ve been putting out albums since the mid-‘90s which have led to massive critical acclaim, a Latin Grammy, and tours to virtually everywhere on the planet!

Mexican Institute Of Sound
One of the cool things about Lollapalooza is that there’s an entire stage devoted strictly to top notch DJs. Created by Mexico City-based producer Camilo Lara, MIS delivers bumpin electro-beats fused with folk, cumbia, and even accordion sounds!

Lollapalooza kicked off today (August 6) at 11a.m. at Grant Park and doesn't stop 'til 10p.m. Sunday with Soundgarden on the South Stage!

Bieber Fever is officially out of control. The Biebs has been immortalized in a comic, is releasing his official illustrated memoir, Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever: My Story in October, and now comes word that Paramount is prepping a biopic featuring the young pop star.

So, what can you expect to see in a two hour feature following the LONG life of a sixteen-year-old? Deadline New York reports that Justin will play himself and the picture will include performances from his current tour. The yet-untitled film will also be released in 3-D.

Take that "Harry Potter" and "Twilight"!

Bieber tweeted his excitement Monday (August 2) night:

"Next Valentine's we r coming with a major 3D movie telling the story with an Oscar winning director and also filming the tour at MSG in NYC!! This is so sick!! Gonna come out in theaters worldwide Valentine's 2011!!! I'm taking this thing worldwide thanks to u all!! Hyped!!"

Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, and Island Def Jam chairman L.A. Reid will produce the film. Impressive!  

A release date is currently slated for Valentine's Day weekend 2011.

Previewing in Canada on September 15 — and officially kicking off in Uncasville, CT, two days
later — this will be Shakira’s fifth world tour! La cantautora anunció que esta nueva gira will be promoting both her She Wolf album and her upcoming Spanish language release Sale El Sol.

Shaki will be touring around the U.S. through end of October, llevando su música a ciudades
como Miami, San Antonio, Las Vegas, y Los Angeles. Once the U.S. leg of her tour is over,
she’ll be hopping across the pond for a European tour, and eventually make her way back to
Sur América en el 2011.

Por lo que parece, Aventura’s going to have to make some room at the top of the bachata realm for newcomer and fast rising sensation Prince Royce. His bilingual hit "Stand By Me" is currently number one on Latin tropical radio in the U.S. and in Puerto Rico, and number eight on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks!

Y eso no es todo. Prince Royce has been making his mark with international audiences on his first-ever European tour, selling out ten concerts in Spain and Italy. His talent is clearly drawing fans to stand by him, and this is only the beginning.

With "Stand By Me" even getting air time on English-language radio, do you think he has the goods to eventually dethrone the Kings of Bachata?
