We knew it would only be a matter of time before George Lopez popped up on the small screen again. And just two months after his Lopez Tonight show went off the air, G. Lo is plotting a comeback. According to reports, the comic is working on a brand new TV sitcom.
George told the Associated Press that he was very excited about the project and currently developing it with a team of writers. He also spoke out about the Lopez Tonight cancellation, saying he was "heartbroken" that TBS pulled the plug.
In addition to the sitcom, Lopez announced plans for an all-new HBO Comedy Special. Add to that film projects like The Smurfs 2 and the Carnival Cruise Lines gig and you've got a whole lotta Lopez lined up for the next year.
Of course, we're most curious about the new series. So far very few details have been released about the premise, other than the fact that he'll have a sexy new wife. We're thinking, with the end of Desperate Housewives on the horizon, why not cast best buddy Eva Longoria as the new sitcom Mrs.?

Talk about a shocker. After a blitz of hype surrounding the Conan O'Brien move and tons of memorable guests, TBS announced this week that it was abruptly cancelling the George Lopez talk show, Lopez Tonight. And though the series only aired for two years, it gave us plenty of memorable moments.
One of its more recent comedy bits has proven to be the most popular. Shortly after the Schwarzenegger scandal broke, George capitalized on his "resemblance" to Arnold’s mistress, Mildred Baena. Donning a blonde wig and a pink sweatshirt, Lopez had the audience rolling with jokes about the disgraced Governator.
The Lopez Tonight set also built a reputation for being very loose and fun. Typically guests on George's couch would be much more candid than on a network talker like The Tonight Show. Cameron Diaz, for one, opened up about buying pot from Snoop Dogg as a high schooler! Selena Gomez was also a big Lopez fave and often broke major stories on the show.
On the musical front, Lopez Tonight definitely had its share of over-the-top performances. Last December, Nikki Minaj brought the house down with her bumping vocals and her bumping booty! At least that's how George put it at the time.
"You have magical powers in your posterior," Lopez jokingly said after Minaj belted out a live version of "Moment 4 Life."
Of course, George had his chisme moments too. Dancing With The Stars fans will definitely remember the time he said that contestant Kirstie Alley had "hooves." Obviously that did not go well in the Twitterverse, though all was eventually forgiven.
But right now, Lopez does not seem to be in a very forgiving mood. Though his cancellation was officially blamed on ratings, he was quick to throw jabs at TBS, claiming race may have played a factor.
Jokingly referring to his Smurfs character, he said,
"So today I lost some work because I'm brown, but I got some work because I'm blue!"

As we've said before, expect to see a lot more of Mildred Baena in the coming weeks. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Guatemalan baby mama has been featured on TMZ, Radar Online, and now the late-night talk show Lopez Tonight. Of course, it wasn't the real Mildred who appeared for an "exclusive" satellite interview, but rather host George Lopez dressed up in drag!
Donning a blonde wig and the same pink-and-white outfit made famous by that first Baena picture, George offered a hilarious Q & A with himself regarding the recent Schwarzenegger scandal. The faux Mildred called Lopez "handsome" and threw out some ridiculous flirts.
"Are you looking for a girlfriend? Housekeeper maybe?" "Mildred" asked.
The character then went off on several jags about the secret love child Arnold fathered.
"There's a 10-year-old in Bakersfield who can bench 450 pounds … and he's very gropy," Lopez' Baena went on to say.
The skit ended with a roar of laughter from the audience and got George quite a bit of traction from the morning's comedy bloggers. Who knows? Maybe if the skit keeps fans excited, Lopez can bring "Mildred" out on his upcoming live comedy tour.

Growing up in Los Angeles, you’re bound to cross paths with a few celebrities. But if you happened to be a student at Long Beach High School back in the late 1980s, you may have shared locker space with both Cameron Diaz and Snoop Dogg. Cameron admitted on Lopez Tonight that she was a classmate of Snoop’s and even bought pot from him.
“He was very tall and skinny and wore lots of ponytails in his hair and I'm pretty sure I got weed from him," the Green Hornet star revealed to George Lopez and his late-night audience.
Diaz also talked about the tough “LBC” life that Snoop rapped about early in his career.
"High school was pretty rough," she said. "Anytime you heard the locker slam and you’d turn and there was a girl taking off her earrings, she’s pulling her hair back in a ponytail and she's taking all her friends’ rings and coming at you like this. It was like 'OK, everybody get back' and you'd be wondering, 'Is she coming at me?'"
The actress went on to eat a media noche sandwich, spoof novelas and even demonstrate some of those golf skills she's been bragging about. Although she didn't divulge any details about her romance with major league slugger Alex Rodriguez, Cameron did break out into laughter when George showed off his special A-Rod bobblehead, noting that she'd already 'hit that.'
Check out the full interview!

Nicki Minaj always keeps us on our toes with her eccentric style and countless alter-egos, and her first late-night appearance on Monday's Lopez Tonight was no different. The rapper showed up wearing a bold floral dress with neon green tights and a color-blended wig — an outfit as fun as her banter with host George Lopez.
After discussing the success of her debut album, Pink Friday, Lopez opened up his shirt and asked Minaj to sign his man boobs (she's known for signing the boobs of both her male and female fans). She signed his shirt with a silver marker, then shared a surprise of her own when she announced that she created a new alter-ego, Rosa (don't forget to roll that R), just for Lopez. That must've made the host feel warm and fuzzy inside because he returned the gesture with a gift of his own, a wired "booty protector" made just for Minaj!
"You have magical powers in your posterior," Lopez told her. The world does seem to have a fascination with Minaj's booty. Regis Philbin patted her behind after a performance of "Right Thru Me" on LIVE! with Regis and Kelly this week, and Rihanna did the same at the 2010 American Music Awards on Nov. 21. So, the contraption should come in handy the next time someone decides to fondle the hip-hop diva on stage.
Check out Nicki Minaj's interview with George Lopez and her live performance of "Moment 4 Life."

Ok, so George Lopez split hasn’t necessarily gotten ugly yet, but it’s moving one step closer to that direction. What initially started as a trial separation between him and his wife, Ann, has now turned into a full-blown divorce.
Image : Getty Images
Papers were filed last week citing irreconcilable differences between the two, with Ann requesting primary custody of their 14-year-old daughter, Mayan. It has also been revealed that they had no prenuptial agreement, which means George may have to give up a sizable chunk of his fortune.
Seeing how Lopez Tonight is flying highin the ratings, Ann seemed to pick a very lucrative time to play the breakup card. George made over $3.5 million last year (just from his talk show), which Ann could easily get half of. Don’t be surprised if you see a few more Lopez standup gigs popping up in the next year to help cover those alimony bills!
The real dirty details have yet to come out, but tabloids have speculated all kinds of cheating rumors behind the split. Because, as we all know, “irreconcilable differences” is often another term for mas novias on the side.
We’re also wondering if George will change his attitude with any of his Lopez Tonight lady guests. Seeing how he’s a single guy now, don’t be surprised if he moves that interviewer chair a little closer to Eva Longoria and Christina Aguilera!

After months of hype, the back-to-back team of George Lopez and Conan O’Brien made their big debut Monday night (November 8). And as promised, they delivered funny jokes, hot guests, and most importantly BIG ratings for the TBS Network!
Image : Wire Image
Kicking off at 11pm, Conan brought everyone’s favorite late night redhead back to the talk show stage after 10 months off the air. Since getting The Tonight Show from Jay Leno and losing The Tonight Show (back to Jay Leno), O’Brien’s grown a beard, become a Twitter god, and toured the country with a live stand up act.
And it looks like the break from the daily TV grind has served him well. Critics around the web agreed that the comedy on his debut show was fresh and much looser than what he had done on NBC (which aired The Tonight Show). Fans agreed too, as he was able to pull 3.3 million viewers from the targeted 18-49 year-old demographic.
George Lopez’ Lopez Tonight seemed to benefit as well. Even though his year-old show was bumped to midnight to make room for Conan, it pulled a record 1.4 million viewers in the 18-49 demo (we’re sure having Janet Jackson as a guest helped).
And how did good old Jay fare against the new late night cable titans? In the same demographic of 18-49, he only got 952,000 viewers. Sound like good news for all of you Team Coco fans out there. The O’Brien/Lopez combo is here to stay!

Jennifer Lopez will attempt to "break" prime-time's most infamous womanizer, Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), when she guest-stars on "How I Met Your Mother" this season. Lopez, who tried her hand as a late-night host during "Lopez Tonight" last week, seems to be making a habit of appearing on the small screen.
According to a press release, Lopez will play a self-help author, Anita Appleby, who writes about the ways "to train men into relationship machines through the power of denial." After she learns about Barney's treatment towards women from Robin (Cobie Smulders), Appleby wants to tame him.
"We couldn't be more excited about Jennifer Lopez joining us on 'How I Met Your Mother,' " executive producer and co-creator Carter Bays said of the latest celebrity cameo on his hit CBS comedy. "We're looking forward to a week of revealing outfits and sexy dance moves the likes of which this show hasn't seen since Regis Philbin guest-starred."
Lopez is also rumored to be making a guest appearance on "Glee." According to reports, the show's producers are trying to get her on the show to play a cafeteria worker. "Discussions are ongoing and we haven't gotten into the episode(s) [Lopez would] be appearing in," "Glee" executive producer Brad Falchuk told E! Online.
With all this self promotion, we have to wonder what's going on with Jenny's music career. Her new album, Love?, was originally scheduled to come out in January, but it's since been pushed back to April. Her first single "Louboutins" was released to mixed reviews while the electro beat of "Everybody's Girl" is sure to be a club hit.
We can't wait for the lp, but what do you think about her appearance on "How I Met Your Mother?" Can Jlo tame a womanizer? We think yes! (MTVNews)

Last night marked the premiere episode of Lopez Tonight. We caught it and thought George Lopez was nothing short of hysterical. The host started off the night by noting what America truly looks like: young, old, Black, White, Latino, Asian... and that change was finally coming to late night. It's refreshing to see a Latino late night host, and we're glad that he did not disappoint!
Lopez brought his hilarious stand-up, amazing guests - which included the beautiful Eva Longoria Parker doing a number on a stripper pole - and audience games bien entretenidos to the line-up. So what more can we expect from nuestro cómico favorito? Well tonight should be good, as Marc Anthony and Jamie Foxx are scheduled to appear! Mucha suerte, Señor Lopez!
