If there was any confusion remaining about whether Weezy's long-delayed new album, Rebirth, would really take him to the rock side, the full-album leak of the disc on Wednesday put those questions to rest.
Just hours after news emerged that around 500 Amazon.com customers who had pre-ordered the album had received it this week — despite the recent push back of the official street date to February 1 — the full 12-track effort began popping up on the Internet. While Wayne's label would not comment on the Amazon mix-up and did not return requests for confirmation that the dozen leaked songs are in fact the final track listing for the disc, the mastered-sounding tracks appear to be the final product.
Fans are already familiar with "Drop the World," the scowling, explosive collabo with Eminem that leaked earlier this week, as well as one of the first singles from the disc, the pseudo-metal grinder "Prom Queen," which dropped in January and is one of three songs to feature singer Shanell.
Wayne cements his reputation as one of our most gifted rappers, floating his signature flow on a rainbow galaxy of unexpected musical looks — none of them more out-there than a hook-up with another Young Money star-in-the-making, Nicki Minaj, who trades verses with him on the hyper, No Doubt-like pop ska raver "Knockout." Have you heard the album? Should the rock star stay, or should Wayne don his signature style once again?

Lil Wayne is finally releasing a follow-up album to his platinum LP, Tha Carter 3. Rebirth was originally slated to hit stores last April, but his new rock-esque album will now go on sale December 15th. The album's lead single "Prom Queen" was released in January and didn't receive instant success like Tha Carter 3's "Lollipop."
Hopefully Weezy will have the same level of success on this LP, if he's around to enjoy it that is. Last month, Wayne entered a guilty plea in a two-year-old gun case against him. Weezy admitted to illegally having a loaded gun on his tour bus in 2007 and is expected to spend a year in jail after his February sentencing. Looks like this album is dropping right on time! Shakira is releasing a new U.S. single off her She Wolf album due out this November, and for this one she hooked up with none other than Lil Wayne. The track called "Give It Up To Me," fué producida by hit maker Timbaland, which makes us think this one should be sending us straight out to the dancefloor. Weeepa, it's Miss Shaki baaaby!
Take a listen for yourselves, check out the track on Shaki's Myspace page. Qué piensan? [Shakira.com]

Fat Joe's ninth studio album, Jealous Ones Still Envy 2 or J.O.S.E 2, drops today. The album reprises the name of Joe's 2002 platinum LP and features Lil Wayne, Fabolous, Akon, T-Pain, Lil'Kim, and Ron Browz.
In other Joey Crack news, it seems the beef between him and Jay-Z is making a comeback. Both attended a party at the Imperial night club in NYC last week, and party goers said the two refused to speak to each other all night. One spy source said, "Jay-Z arrived and totally upstaged Fat Joe. He rolled up in a Jeep with no roofs or doors, and was blasting his new song. Then, when he got into the DJ booth, the whole club just came to a standstill. Fat Joe was not a happy camper. He made sure he wasn't in the DJ booth when Jay-Z was there. Instead, he ordered a bottle of Hennessy and looked moody in the VIP area. Then, later on Twitter, he thanked Jay-Z for stopping by his party."
Hmm... whose camp are you on? Fat Joe or HOV? [PageSix]

Kanye West may be a jerk for interrupting 19-year-old Taylor Swift's VMA win, but it seems like even criticism from the President can't hold West down.
On Wednesday night, BET announced the nominees for their third annual Hip Hop Awards and Kanye leads the pack with 9 nods in categories like Best Hip-Hop Collabo, Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, Producer of the Year, CD of the Year, MVP of the Year, Hustler of the Year, the Made-You-Look award (for style) and People's Champ.
Following Kanye with 7 nominations each are Jay-Z and Lil Wayne, and jailed T.I. received 6.
The 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards will be taped Oct. 10th in Atlanta and air Oct. 27, and we can't wait to see what Mr. West will do if he loses in any of the 9 categories he's nominated in. It's about to get interesting!
Did you miss Kanye's 2009 VMA outburst? Well, watch it again with toda tu familia con subtítulos en Español and find out why even el Presidente Obama is talking about Kanye! No te lo pierdas, este Domingo a las 5pm EST.

The Grammy Awards used to offer a dry lineup of performers, but not this year...
New performances were announced today, including T.I. and Justin Timberlake. The hip-hop palette is also going to be mixed with a watch-worthy trio performance of "Swagga Like Us" featuring, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and Kanye West (a.k.a. Martin Louis the King Jr.). Los roqueros are also dominating the mic with modern power players like Radiohead (who are up for five Grammy's) rocking the stage on February 8th.
La loca Katy Perry, 'Viva la Vida' Coldplay, country songstress Carrie Underwood, and Los Jonas Brothers are only a few of the other pop stars hitting the stage. Now we are just wondering dónde están los Latinos????? Hopefully, Wisin y Yandel get added in the upcoming announcements. What other Latino artists do you think should hit the stage? [MTV News]

We know the life of a VJ seems like all fun and games...
But when the cameras stop rolling our peeps spend their free time looking out for the community. L. Boogs and Carlos Santos represented for the Empower Arts Education Benefit supporting W.H.C.A.P (Washington Heights Community Arts Project) at pier 66 in New York City last night.
The gala was hosted by none other than L. Boogs (shout out to Sucker Free Latino!). He kept the crowd in order by shhing (is that a word?) the rowdy chicos in the back and even pretended to be Vanna White by showcasing raffled items.
The evening showcased the talents of MTV Tr3s Top 20/ Mi TRL host Carlos Santos también. He performed a stand-up comedy act discussing parranda etiquette and road rules in Puerto Rico. After Carlos was done warming-up the crowd, rapper Malverde came on-stage to represent the west coast. The always political rapper had no problem voicing his pro-Obama agenda in a remix he did over the Lil Wayne "A Milli" beat.
He also expressed why this event was important to him:
Art defines culture. I am a product of the influence art has on the life of a youth.
You can't beat partying for a good cause. For more info on empowering the youth of Washington Heights check out the WHCAP website. Make a difference ahora!

Were T.I. and Lil Wayne too cool to kick it with MTV after the VMAs?
It sure looked that way! We were behind-the-scenes after the big show and were surprised when two of the night's biggest names were no where to be found. Rumor has it that the "King of the South" was skipping the festivities to rest up for "Bone Deep," the crime drama he starts filming Monday (September 8th) alongside Oscar nominee Matt Dillon. Ok, so maybe TIP gets a pass, THIS TIME.
¿Pero qué pasó with Lil Wayne? We overheard him talking about it to someone from MTV:
You know me, I don't really trip off the parties and stuff, I may pop up at a party or two. Tonight I'll be in the studio working on some stuff.
Ahhh the old studio line huh. Well if that's the case, no wonder he is the top selling hip-hop artist this year! [MTV News]

We know you're anticipating our Artist of The Week: The Jonas Brothers rocking out at the Video Music Awards, but who says it has to end there?

MTV has officially inked special performances by Rihanna, Pink, and Paramore! While recovering druggie Russell Brand entices us with more lesbian kisses and elephant promos, we can also expect to be trippin' once T.I., Lil' Wayne, and Kid Rock take the stage. Be sure to get lost in the mayhem on Sept. 7th at 9p.m. sharp. That's right...we didn't stutter!
Will Pink be giving out a shout-out to her ex-hubby?
Or will Paramore grab him backstage and cause a Riot?!
