Get ready for the "Year of the Latina." At least, in the magazine world that's what it may turn out to be. The New York Times recently reported that quite a few publishing moguls are planning to target Hispanic women in 2012, starting with the launch of Cosmo Latina.

Yup, the editors of Cosmopolitan are now expanding their reach with a new Latina-based publication that will hit newsstands in early May. As of right now, it will be a seasonal brand, with new issues arriving in the spring and the fall.

Cosmo publishing director, Donna Kalajian Lagani, explained how their brand is a great tool to connect to Latina readers.

"Today, Cosmo reaches nearly one in four Hispanic women in the U.S. over the age of 18 and is the number one monthly magazine in English that reaches Latinas," she explained. "Advertisers are focusing sharply on the Hispanic market, but the untold story is that the new generation of Latina is consuming her media in English, and is looking for content that is just for her. We feel that Cosmo is uniquely positioned to help advertisers reach this audience."

Of course, Cosmo Latina will have to compete with the original Latina Magazine, which already has a pretty strong hold on the Hispanic female audience (and a few guys too, thanks to that sexy Christina Milian cover). Interestingly, in the past year alone, the amount of Latina ad pages increased by over 11 percent.

Other popular mags like People en Español and Siempre Mujer also saw significant spikes in ad revenue for 2011. So with that in mind, we expect tons more “Latina” adaptations to come. Maybe Home & Garden Latina? Sports Illustrated Señoritas? Or perhaps a little Maxim en Español?!

The beautiful and talented Demi Lovato graced the cover of Latina Magazine for their December issue.

Demi opens up and talks about her struggles she had last year and says:

"I thought I was going to lose everything when I checked myself into treatment. I didn’t know if I would have a career at all when I came home. So it really hit me – I hadn’t been grateful."

“In that sense, I can honestly say I’m glad I hit rock bottom when I did. Most people don’t have those moments. I see a lot of young people in this industry who feel entitled because they haven’t hit rock bottom yet. I feel blessed when I get an opportunity now.”

I'm happy that Demi is in a much better place and she also has a gorgeous boyfriend... you might have heard of him, Wilmer Valderrama!!! Check out the magazine when it hits stands on November 15th!

On October 5th LA had our first big rainstorm this season which by the way did not stop me from attending the Latina Magazine 15 year anniversary party. I've been anticipating it for months and I knew it was a very special celebration after seeing the cover for this month’s issue.

With women like Rosario Dawson, Shakira, Gloria Estefan and Rosie Perez being honored the magazine deserved a Quinceañera like no other. The celebration was held at The Globe Theater inside Universal Studios Hollywood. After passing through the press line you were greeted by a huge 30 cover foot cover of the issue that directly guided you inside the star studded event. Meeting Sara Ramirez from Greys Anatomy was one of the highlights from my night! Her charm is on new levels of amazing-ness and beauty...well, its self explanatory.

After admiring the Quiceañera-decorated cake, getting my make-up touched at the Cover Girl beauty and enjoy an adult beverage it was time for my girl Kat De Luna to perform. She knew exactly what the Latino filled room needed some drums and a few 'drop it lows' to get us going on the dance floor.

It was a complete honor to be invited to the event and I truly left a hundred times more inspired to continue representing my community to the fullest.

Talking about your problems can be therapeutic. Maybe that's why Christina Milian opened up to Latina magazine about her marriage to The-Dream.

Milian, Latina magazine's February 2011 cover girl, described the time she was married to the self-proclaimed “Radio Killa” as “hell” and admitted her sixth sense did kick in, despite being in the dark about her husband's infidelities.

“I didn’t know anything," she told Latina in an exclusive interview. "But looking back, my gut was telling me something was off. But I thought I could fix it.”

“No matter what, you can’t change who you are. I know that now. I tried to be someone I wasn’t because I wanted my marriage to work. But ultimately, if it’s not working, it’s not working.”

The public break-up was an eye-opening experience that Milian said taught her a lot about her strength and resilience.

“I learned a lot about myself this year," she said. "I learned what I can handle. I learned how much I can take. I learned who I am and what I will accept for myself and my daughter.”

Now that the drama is behind her, she's ready for whatever the new year brings.

“I feel brand new," she said. "I’ve been to hell and back, but I survived. I’m stronger for it and now I’m ready for the next phase of my life.”

We're loving her sexy confidence, but the "Say I" singer says we can thank beautiful baby Violet for the glow.

“Being a new mother definitely makes me feel so much sexier than ever before," she told the magazine. "There’s a certain responsibility that I carry being a mom that makes me feel very confident and so blessed. Being a mom is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

Team Blogamole would like to think we can spot anyone from our comunidad on a dime, but we were recently proved wrong by Latina's "Stars You Never Knew Were Latino" series.

We already knew that Jersey girl Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi was of Chilean descent (she was adopted and raised by Italian parents), but stars like Nicole Richie, Shar Jackson, and Chevy Chase's daughter Marisol Nichols had us taking a second look!

Nicole Richie

Socialite, reality star and sometimes actress, 28-year-old Nicole Richie is known as Lionel Richie’s adopted daughter—the key word there being, “adopted.” Richie was actually born Nicole Camille Escovedo to a Mexican mother.

David Gallagher

For ten seasons, 25-year-old David Gallagher played Simon Camden, a member of one of TV’s whitest families on the long-running family drama, 7th Heaven. But who would’ve guessed that this blonde haired, blue-eyed kid—who also played Mikey Ubriacco (John Travolta’s son) in 1993’s " Look Who’s Talking Now" —was Latino? Gallagher was born in Flushing, New York to Cubana Elena Lopez.

"Secret" celebrity identities aside, the population of Latinos in the U.S. continues to grow by leaps and bounds. According to the Los Angeles Times, among Latinos, there are nine births for every one death, according to census data. For whites, the ratio is 1-1. "That's a huge difference," said Michael Stoll, a professor of public policy at UCLA. The Associate Press also reports that Multiracial Americans, the fastest growing U.S. demographic group, are also adding to minority gains.

Team Blogamole is loving Xtina's glam look for the June/July cover of Latina magazine!

Christina Aguilera

Her green dress has a definite pin-up vibe — perhaps referencing her starring role in "Burlesque," hitting theaters Thanksgiving weekend.

'Idol' vet Allison Iraheta rocked pink hair and black nail polish for the May cover of Latina, which hit newsstands last week. The Salvadoran American singer's feature spans eight pages and contains full-page portraits of last year's top 4 finalists.

If you're an Iraheta fan, this issue is a must-buy. Allison reveals details about her previous attempts at talent show fame, along with thoughts on the less-than-stellar sales of her debut album, Just Like You. She also speaks about the support and confidence she feels from fellow 'Idol' contestant Adam Lambert, who is quoted as saying, "It’s going to take some time, but she’ll get there."

Adam also jokes about telling Allison she can move in with him if and when she decides to attend college. "Allison’s still like my little sister, even though we don’t get to see each other as much,” he said.

Lambert's invite is sweet, but the 'Friday I'll Be Over U' star, who turns 18 this week, has already announced that she will be celebrating her birthday by moving into her own place in Los Angeles.

Watch this behind-the-scenes video of Allison at her Latina shoot:

Adam may not get a new roomie in Allison, but the 'Idol' buddies will be spending lots of time together later year: Iraheta and Orianthi will open for Lambert on his 'Glam Nation' tour. Allison told On The Red Carpet that she is looking forward to supporting her friend and mentor:

"Pure awesomeness. Adam is unbelievable live and so is Orianthi. I feel so lucky and blessed to be part of this. I'm so stoked and excited, it's going to be a lot of fun."

Some sexy Dominicanas were in attendance at the Latina Magazine launch party last week, in which Arlenis Sosa's March cover was revealed.

Arlenis, una bella Dominicana who's been making waves in the modeling world since being discovered in Santo Domingo in 2008, is currently the spokesmodel for Lancôme.  The makeup company hosted the event, which was also attended by Kat DeLuna, MTV's own Julissa Bermudez, and Latina Mag editor, Mimi Valdes.  Que mujeres tan hermosas, verdad?

We're loving Kat's stylish vestido and intense black eyeliner.  She looks smoking!

We LOVE seeing hot Latina women succeeding en el mundo de la moda!

Latina Magazine is celebrating all things Mexico all month long! Not only is their cover art traditional and festive, but inside are articles celebrating the culture, people, and beauty of este país. Mexican Comedian George Lopez sat down for an interview with the mag, and here's a quick peek at his thoughts on staying true to his culture through his comedy, entering late night television, Carlos Mencia, and even President Obama.

On incorportating Spanish into his comedy:

I'm not afraid to speak Spanish and have somebody say, 'I gotta get an English-Spanish dictionary to understand.' That's your fu****g problem, he says. We're the largest growing demographic in the States. You don't get part of me, that's cool. Why can't you go to a show and not get it?

On entering the late night ring:

Letterman is the king of late night, he says. But I believe there's enough of a diverse audience and there's a bigger pie that I'm not fighting over the same slice that those guys are fighting over. I'm creating my own pie.

On his beef with comedian Carlos Mencia, whom Lopez accused of stealing his jokes:

I don't really talk about it no more. But there's no reason to reconcile.

During his HBO set, Lopez poked fun at President Obama and called him Latino for "living in a house that wasn't his," having his "mother-in-law raise his kids and spending money that he didn't have."

President Obama called me and he said,'Hey, Lopez, I hear you been clownin' me'."He breaks to dispense presidential cool points. That was his first line. This is from the president of the United States! [Latina]

Daddy Yankee is resurrecting the political drama! The reggaetonero made sure to keep his mouth shut after feeling his pueblo's backlash in regards to the McCain endorsement, but the Boricua is finally responding to his homeboy's loss...

El Cangri made sure to clear the air at the launch event of his men's fragrance DY in New York City last week. While signing autographs and chilling-out with fans, the "Impacto" singer graciously revealed his thoughts on President Barack Obama's win to Latina magazine.

The Republican supporter stated:

I respect the people's decision. That's the good thing about living in a country where democracy exists. Now it is the job of all of us to work as a team and come together like brothers for the good of this nation.

Nice. His publicist must have coached him on this one! Seems like Mr. Yankee simply wants todos to forget about his political aspirations and unite peacefully to buy his rico suave smelling cologne. Has he earned your billetes? [Latina]
