Whoever believed Jennifer Lopez when she said her "Love Don't Cost A Thing"? J.Lo's spirit of giving hit new heights this week: The "Back-Up Plan" actress recently donated precious gemstones and diamonds to help raise serious cash for the Cannes Film Festival AIDS auction.
Jennifer Lopez

Proceeds from the event totaled $6.7 million, which will go to the American Foundation for Aids Research. Word has it that J.Lo donated ten luxury items, including a a gold-plated bottle of bubbly and a monkey-shaped pendant. We wonder if that was left over stock from the Bennifer days...

Paris Hilton, Mary J. Blige, and Michelle Williams were among the celebs that auctioned off their goods for charity, but one of the highest-rolling bids was to spend a day with former President Bill Clinton. Final price? $200,000!

No wonder the event earned about $2 million more than in 2008. And they say we are in a recession!

Thalia has been in hiding these days. Besides attending the Latin Billboard Awards, the Mexican singer has been keeping a low profile - except in the Twitter world.

Thalia

The "Qué Será de Ti" singer recently posted a message revealing her love for yoga and positivism:

"Ok, pa'lante! Yoga e infrared sauna now! Ni tormentas, ni adversidades, ni obstaculos, ni malos dias impediran seguir nustro camino! Positivismo!"

We can see she has a misspellings in her tweet, which means she has something in common with longtime rumored rival Paulina Rubio! Besides being obsessed with Twitter, they're both major best-selling artists in the Latin pop world.

Thalia's latest live album Primera Fila, released last December, managed to hit number one in the Latin Pop and Top Latin Album charts, according to the Latin Nielsen Soundscan.

Another random fact we found out by snooping on Thalia's Twitter page? She has a thing for "The Newsboys"! No, really. Listen to their track "Something Beautiful" and let us know if you feel the same.

Juanes is no stranger to helping the political and social environment in Colombia, but a recent political campaign has the philanthropic star fuming. The "A Dios Le Pido" singer claims that Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos unlawfully used his hit song "La Camisa Negra" for the Partido de la U candidate's video advertisement, which is circling on YouTube with dubbed lyrics referring to Santos.

Juanes

Juanes took to his twitter page to vent on the issue:

"They are using one of my songs in the campaign of Juan Manuel Santos without authorization... Abuse."

We don't know which side of the fence Juanes stands on, but perhaps he isn't a fan of Santos' strict military-based view on the country's security. The presidential election, set for May 30th, looks like a tight race between Santos and the Green Party's Antanas Mockus, who has a peaceful anti-corruption view on government.

Santos' camp recently responded to the accusations:

"Juan Manuel Santos' campaign is NOT using Juanes' song for publicity ... We reiterate that the video circulating on YouTube is not an official campaign one ... The images that appear in the video are official campaign [images] and can be downloaded by anyone from Santos' website."

It appears that the infamous video is no where in sight! We scoped out YouTube and Santos' official page, but found no trace of it. Very interesting, don't you think?

Look up 'waka waka' in the urban dictionary and you'll find the following definitions: "The line Fozzie the bear says after a very cheezy joke" and "The act of masturbation, striking of the male genitals" (Can anyone say TMI on that last one?). The definitions may cross the line between sweet and perverse, but hopefully Shakira's "Waka, Waka" single adds a literary balance to the mix.
Shakira

The "Hips Don't Lie" singer's new single is inspired by an African-style dance, which she wants fans to dance to in support of the campaign 1Goal for universal education. The mission is simple: practice your dance moves, record your best "Waka, Waka" performance, and post your video at Youtube.com/shakirawakawaka.
