For the regular horror film fan, the problem with the Twilight saga story is that the premise is outrageous, but once you get over the whole team wolf-team vampire thing the series have been getting more interesting with each passing episode.
Not only that, the movies have evolved accordingly and the addition of director Bill Condon helped to make this latest install, Breaking Dawn Part I, the best by far in the series. Condon not only is the acclaimed director of hits like Chicago and Dreamgirls, he was also involved in a whole bunch of horror films either as writer or director or both, so he's got a good hand for monsters, even for cheesy ones.
At this point in the Twilight story, Bella Swam, (Kristen Stewart) and her vampire beau Edward (Robert Pattinson) get married, go on honeymoon, have their thing going and suddenly something happens (I won’t say what to avoid spoiling it for the those who haven’t read the books…) and all hell breaks loose. Oh, and way before any of that happens, Taylor Lautner loses his shirt. Actually it happens within 15 minutes of film.
One of the things Breaking Dawn has in its favor is the fact that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are very good actors, and on top of that, they have played the same parts four times now, so they look very comfortable like Bella and Edward. Lautner still struggles but I must say in his defense that he's got some of the worst possible lines ever and the fact that his character is supposed to be filled with barely suppressed rage all the time does not help. Anyway, at least he's better than in Abduction….and his abs are still impressive.
The other good thing in the film is Michael Sheen as Aro, the leader of the powerful Volturi coven. Why such a great theater and film performer as Sheen makes these monster movies (he plays Lucien, the chief of the Lycans in the Underworld Saga) is a mystery. It could be the money, but my personal opinion he just likes vampire movies and I'm thankful for that, because every time he appears, Breaking Dawn improves immediately. The man has a great stage presence for someone so short and the kind of penetrating glance you might expect in a vampire lord.
On the other hand, despite great landscapes (you notice immediately that they've had a huge budget) and some good cinematography, the technical part is amazingly poor. A few extra dollars in FX, guys! After The Lord of the Rings and especially after Avatar, there is no reason for a big budget movie to look so 80's! Fortunately, werewolf participation will be limited in Part 2 and that will give us a break.
All in all, Breaking Dawn Part I is the best in the series. Despite the cheesy premise, director Condon gives us an agile and compelling tale that maintains great fidelity to the book (hardcore fans will be delighted) and at the same time manages to include a bunch of winks for the horror fans.
What's your favorite Twilight movie?

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 premiere took place this week @ the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The fourth installment of the blockbuster film franchise, which hits theaters this Friday, chronicles the lavish forest wedding (one of the biggest weddings shot in movie history), island honeymoon and impending parenthood of mortal teenager Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and her vampire crush, Edward Cullen, played by Stewart's real-life love Robert Pattinson.
The Breaking Dawn - Part 1 premiere event was streamed live on Yahoo!. A spokesperson said the event drew the largest simultaneous audience for a live movie premiere in Yahoo! history.
The premiered was swamped with hundreds of screaming fans. Many had traveled from far away and camped out for days to catch a glimpse of the stars of the vampire series.
Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner walked down an appropriate black carpet which welcomed them at the Nokia Theatre. Stewart vamped it up in a long purple and black gown with a thigh-high split, while Pattinson wore a fitted gray suit. The pair, alongside heart-throb Lautner, also in a gray suit, posed for the cameras and signed autographs for their fans.
The star-studded black carpet premiere was full of celebrities including singer Bruno Mars, actors Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ashley Tisdale, and Australians Sharni Vinson and Cody Simpson.
One thing is for sure, even though the premiere has come and gone, the after party was done spectacularly and is one that Hollywood will forever remember. The Chad Hudson-produced celebration took its cue from Twilight and featured a large space transformed partially into Bella and Edward's wedding reception and partially into their honeymoon location. According to The Los Angeles Times, perhaps the most breathtaking design was a set of wooden benches surrounded by vines and more than one thousand wisterias.
I guess we’re gonna have to go see the film to check out these lavish sets! Films buffs have predicted record-breaking ticket sales for the last two parts of the film series, which are adapted from Stephenie Meyer's novels. I know I'll be adding to those record breaking sales this weekend!
Are you going to see Breaking Dawn - Part 1 ? What are you most excited about seeing in this film?

Never underestimate the power of a telenovela. Back in the early 1990's, Teresa turned Salma Hayek-Pinault into an international star and now La Reina del Sur might be doing the same for Kate del Castillo. Reports are coming in that the Mexican actress has signed on for her first major Hollywood flick.
Set for a 2012 release date, del Castillo's K-11 movie is bolstering quite an impressive cast. Twilight’s Kristen Stewart and E.R.’s Goran Visnjic have both attached themselves to starring roles. Little is known about the plot, other than that it will be a heavy drama focusing on the transgender community.
Kate, as you know, garnered major attention for her role as Teresa Mendoza on La Reina. There were billboard campaigns, American talk show appearances, and even a push for a Primetime Emmy nod (which sadly didn't come this morning).
But we think of La Reina mostly as a launching pad. After watching the entire season, it's clear that del Castillo has some serious acting chops and we can't wait to see her flex them a little bit more on the big screen!

Robert Pattinson fans got a big treat at last night's MTV Movie Awards. The 25-year-old Twilight star dominated the stage at L.A.'s Gibson Amphitheatre, taking home Best Male Performance, Best Fight Scene, and Best Kiss. Not only that, his Twilight: Eclipse film took home Best Movie of the year.
But, in between R. Patz moments, there was plenty of glam, glitz, and unpredictable comedy. Host Jason Sudeikis made sure to include some Arnold Schwarzenegger jokes in his monologue and even singled out Selena Gomez for a raunchy one-liner! But his shining moment was undoubtedly the opening Hangover Part II parody, which featured a hilarious cameo by Eva Mendes.
Other LOL tidbits came courtesy of Jim Carrey, who wore an image-flashing suit while presenting The Foo Fighters. Comic Aziz Ansari also got some laughs with his Jaden Smith impersonation, but perhaps the most off-the-wall moment occurred when R. Patz kissed costar Taylor Lautner on stage!
One of the trademarks of every MTV Movie Awards show are the sneak peeks of upcoming summer films. And this year's batch are sure to generate a ton of buzz. Throughout the evening, exclusive new scenes were shown of Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Super 8, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
As far as the big winners go (other than Robert Pattinson of course), there were quite a few that got the crowd buzzing. Justin Bieber took home Best Jaw Dropping Moment for his concert film Never Say Never and interestingly did not thank his new gal pal in his acceptance speech. And up-and-coming Latina Alexys Nycole Sanchez got a huge response when she won Best Line From A Movie (for her "I want to get chocolate wasted" moment from Grown Ups).
As expected, fashion was a huge part of the evening. Twilight’s Kristen Stewart got the most attention for her safety-pin studded ensemble and sleek black pumps. Harry Potter’s Emma Watson went for the more sophisticated look, sporting a Marchesa-designed white mini skirt. Prom’s Aimee Teegarden stood out with her colorful flowing dress and former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes took a little heat for flossing way too much spray-tan.
At two hours, the show definitely packed a lot in and never felt rushed or boring (are you listening Oscars?). Add to that a killer live performance from Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz, and it's clear that this year's MTV Movie Awards definitely delivered the goods.

If you think Robert Pattinson's type is a carbon-copy of novia Kristen Stewart then think again. The 'Twilight star recently admitted that he has always been obsessed with older women. The minute we read this we were hoping he wasn't down with abuela types who spend there time at physical therapy. No, no, no, that's just too disturbing to entertain! Robert, 24, is really into older beauties.
"I was always obsessed with Kate Moss," says Pattinson in the new issue of Elle magazine. "On my bedroom wall I had a poster of [Exorcist star] Linda Blair and Kate Moss."
And that's not all.
"I always liked Jane Fonda [who is now 73]. Who else? Ellen Burstyn [78]."
The star is currently promoting his latest film, "Water for Elephants" with co-star Reese Witherspoon. We wonder if he was also crushing on her during the film's production.

Do you think Rob will eventually replace Kristen for an older lover?

Is Kristen Stewart the "fairest of them all?" According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Twilight teen queen is being courted to play the title role in Snow White and the Huntsman along with fellow contenders Riley Keough, Felicity Jones, Alicia Vikander and Emily Browning.
While we're sure Stewart's gig as Bella Swan makes her a top pick, we have to wonder why K-Stew would return to the PG realm once Breaking Dawn is complete. Throughout her Twilight career, Kristen's made an effort to play off-character roles in such indie flicks as The Runaways and The Yellow Hankerchief, so taking on yet another puff princess/damsel in distress role seems like an unlikely next step.
However, now that A-listers Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron are in negotiations to play the roles of the huntsman and evil queen, their involvement may entice Stewart to join the live-action fairy tale. Like Kristen, Viggo made his mainstream breakthrough starring as Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
We think Stewart could have a great opportunity to shine as Snow White.

Is popularity such a bad thing? The winners of this year’s People’s Choice Awards may not always get recognized by critics, but their fans don't care one bit. Zac Efron, Selena Gomez and Kim Kardashian ruled the night Wednesday at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre.
Hosted by Queen Latifah, this year’s People’s Choice Awards featured live performances, crowd-roaring acceptance speeches and plenty of paparazzi moments (like when Natalie Portman debuted her baby bump). More importantly, it gave fans the chance to pick their favorite music and movie stars via onine voting.
Though she’s had a bit of a rough year, Demi Lovato, star of the Disney Channel's Sonny with a Chance, was recognized for her guest role on Grey’s Anatomy and her work in Camp Rock 2. Fellow Disney tween queen, Selena Gomez, took home Favorite Breakout Artist and performed her hit, “A Year Without Rain.”
Other big winners of the night included Johnny Depp, who nabbed Favorite Movie Actor for Alice in Wonderland, and the Kardashian sisters for Favorite TV Guilty Pleasure. And despite being up for a Worst Film Razzie, Adam Sandler’s Grown Ups got Favorite Comedy Movie.
Click here for the full list of People's Choice Award winners.
And how about those blue carpet fashions? Taylor Swift got quite a bit of attention for her ruby red lipstick and delicate pink frock. Twilight's Kristen Stewart took a bold chance with her glittering (and very short) Reem Acra dress. And as for the newly-engaged Ms. Portman, she definitely had that special mom-to-be glow in her blue-fringed ensemble.
Everyone took the stage on cue, thanked their adoring fans and went on to party the night away in Los Angeles. If you ask us, it’s nice to have a breezy awards show like this to balance out that other one which takes itself way too seriously.

Known for hating the spotlight, "Twilight" star Kristen Stewart recently stuck her foot in her mouth by comparing paparazzi photos of herself to images of a woman being raped. Thankfully, the young actress has seen the light.
"I made an enormous mistake," she told People magazine. Ya think, K-Stew?

Kristen shared some bizarre sentiments in the July edition of British Elle magazine:
“It's so... The photos are so… I feel like I'm looking at someone being raped. A lot of the time I can't handle it,” the 20-year-old actress said when asked how she feels about being photographed in her everyday life.
We have more from K-Stew, after the jump!

With the release of "Eclipse" a little less than two months away, Twi-hards were given something else to look forward to Tuesday (May 4) when the release date for "Breaking Dawn", the fourth installment in the Twilight series, was reported by Deadline as November 18, 2011.
That's eighteen long months between the two films. DIE! What's the hold up? Well, rumors are still circulating whether "Breaking Dawn" will be split into two features (although Deadline sources confirm that it will be), and if Summit Entertainment decideds to go the 3-D route, that may take longer to create.
Can you imagine Bella giving birth to Renesmee in 3-D? We can't! K-Stew sat down with MTV News back in February and weighed in on the two vs. one flicks debate, and what it would be like to give birth in 3-D.
Now that Summit has announced Bill Condon as the director of "Breaking Dawn," we hope more news will follow in the coming weeks. Perhaps they'll be a big announcement at the Los Angeles premiere of "Eclipse" on June 24? We'll have to wait and see!
Tr3s Comunidad, are you excited for "Breaking Dawn" in 2011? Let us know below, or @MTV3!
