It's almost that time of year mi gente...el momento del Moonman! Each year we look to the MTV Video Music Awards to provide us with a new brand of office cooler chisme. Whether it's a surprising collabo kiss or a career-halting opening performance, we can always rely on M-Money to give us something to talk blog about. This year MTV is getting us, los fans, involved in the show; YOU determine which artists get nominated!
What better way to say LIBERTAD than with some live music? Colombianos Juanes and Ingrid Betancourt, and Spaniard Miguel Bose are throwing a concert to say that very thing. On July 20th in Paris the musicians will be teaming up to hold “Concierto Por La Libertad." The artists will perform and demand that remaining Colombian hostages be released, and FARC revolutionaries be dissolved.
The concert was announced yesterday by Betancourt and the mayor of Paris. It will coincide with hundreds of peace marches and shows throughout Colombia to help achieve la paz en el país.
Bueno, it’s a good thing Ingrid is using her Colombian celebrity connections for a good cause, no?

MySpace ingenue Colbie Caillat has made it BIG en el mundo latino. Well, not quite, but one influential Colombiano thinks la cantante is hot stuff..
Juanes and Colbie bonded during a tour in Japan and they got along so well, that it's rumored they will cover one another's songs. After Juanes complimented California girl Colbie on su trabajo, Colbie gave Juanes a reciprocal pat on the back (it's only fair). Colbie plans to cover Juanes' "Hoy me Voy" for her future album. In turn, Juanes will do a Spanish version of Colbie's "Little Things."
Nice marketing tactic Colbie. She just hit the mainstream and is already going the Latin route. We thought that was reserved only for A-listers like Beyonce. [Latin Gossip]

There are some people that just make el mundo a better place, and Juanes is one of them. Now you can help spread his positive message of peace by buying one of his new 80's-inspired t-shirts. Each shirt features colorful graphics and a message about our universal "derecho a vivir en paz." Profits from the tees are going towards Juanes' Fundación Mi Sangre, which aids children and survivors of land mine explosions. *Sigh* Political activist and mega-hot rocker rolled into one? How can you not love Juanes!
Sadly, las camisetas are currently only being sold at Éxito stores in Colombia. No fair, we want one! If you've got any familia en Colombia, NOW would be the time to hit them up for some regalitos. Maybe get an extra one to share with Blogamole? Worth a shot, verdad? [MTV Tr3s Radio Noticias]

Today in Japan, Juanes se juntó con humanitarian veteran Bono (yeah, yeah, yeah!) to protest against world poverty. The event called for some great networking between the Colombian rocker and the U2 frontman. Bono has agreed to help Juanes shine a spotlight on Latin American poverty and promised Juanes he would visit Colombia soon enough. Juanes is definitely redeeming himself from his no-show at the ALAS concert in Mexico City the other week.

Unfortunately, Juanes had to cancel his ALAS performance in Mexico City due to complications with the private jet the singer and his band were boarding. Juanes was flying from Sacramento, California to Toluca, Mexico where he would then make his appearance at ALAS in Mexico City but the complications made it impossible for Juanes to arrive on time. Of course, el Colombiano was deeply disappointed and upset about the cancellation and that he couldn’t be there with his amigos pero we know he was there in spirit. [El Universal]
