It's one of the most talked about performances of the year, and now it's being reported that Madonna is to take center stage at Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis, Indiana on Sunday, February 5, 2012.

The sports website SB Nation is reporting that Madonna will take to the Lucas Oil Stadium to perform during the halftime show.

The NFL is not commenting and Madonna's rep says there's "nothing to confirm at this point"... which is pretty much a given confirmation.

Last month Madonna confirmed that she’s been recording a new album with producers William Orbit -responsible for the success of her 1998 album Ray of Light- and French DJ Martin Solveig of the inescapable "Hello".

The idea was to release a new single in the winter, with the album out Spring, 2012. But now an even better idea is to release the first single in her first album in over three years, And what a better crowd to release it to performing to the vast Superbowl audience!

Halftime tradition of the past few years after the Janet and JT unforgettable wardrobe malfunction  has featured iconic respected and beloved artists in the likes of The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, and The Rolling Stones. After the Black Eyed Peas disappointment last year, it makes sense that the NFL calls upon someone like Madonna to clean up the mess of previous years.
Doubters might question Madonna's ability to be family-friendly, or the wisdom in bringing her estrogen-powered hits into a testosterone-fueled environment. But Madonna was born to play at venues like the Super Bowl.

What do you make of the prospect of Madonna headlining the Super Bowl? Do you think it's a good idea?

More than two years after the death of Michael Jackson, his doctor Conrad Murray has been brought to trial to face involuntary manslaughter charges. And, as expected, the case has created a media circus. Cameras were everywhere this morning as Michael's family and Conrad entered the Los Angeles courthouse.

Jackson's mother, father, and siblings (including LaToya, Janet, Jermaine, and Randy) made their way through throngs of crowds praising the late King of Pop. Murray was escorted under heavy watch amidst boos, hisses, and angry shouts from MJ fans on the street.

When the trial finally began, there were plenty of emotions among nearly everyone in the courtroom. Conrad's defense is claiming that Michael caused his own death when he overdosed on Propofol back in June 2009.

"On June 25 for 10 hours Michael Jackson was frustrated because he could not sleep, frustrated that his doctor refused to give him a drug that he wanted," Murray's defense attorney Ed Chernoff said in his opening remarks. "He did an act without his doctor’s knowledge, without his doctor's permission, against his doctor's orders. He did an act that caused his own death."

Obviously that statement caused quite a shock among Jackson's family and reportedly caused his mother Katherine to break down. But that barely compares to what the defense team brought out later in the day.

Conrad's lawyers presented tape of Michael slurring while under the influence of his medications. Radar Online has published snippets of the audio, which is actually rather shocking to hear. The team then showed off a picture of Jackson's dead body (which has since hit the internet) causing sister Janet to burst out in tears.

It all made for quite a lot of activity (especially since we're only on day one). Throughout the duration of the trial, several of Michael's closest associates will be asked to take the stand. Tr3s fave Kenny Ortega may be the first to testify and is expected to be grilled heavily about the This Is It rehearsals. And, needless to say, we are very curious to hear what he has to say.

Do you think Conrad Murray should be found guilty? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.

Janet Jackson won't take part in the tribute to her late brother, the King of Pop Michael Jackson, in Cardiff, UK, October 8th. But it's not because she doesn't want to: Janet has a good reason not to be there because it's the same day that the doctor accused of Michael's death goes to trial in California.

Randy and Jermaine Jackson will also be absent from the event and stated that it was impossible for them to support the event in England while the criminal trial involving MJ's death is going on.

Dr. Conrad Murray is accused on involuntary homicide for allegedly causing MJ a fatal overdose due to a very strong dosis of propofol in combination with other drugs. The official coroner's report stated that the standards for administering the drug were not met --including a lack of necessary monitoring equipment.

Michael's mother, Katherine, showed her support for the tribute concert in mid-August, saying that she understands how her children feel about the loss of their brother, but as Michael's mother she has to be present at a tribute to her son's life and career.

Thus far amongst the artists to be performing at MJ's Tribute are Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Smokey Robinson, Leona Lewis, the British band JLS,  Craig David and Alien Ant Farm. Also performing will be some other brothers of the Jackson family as well as the group 3T, formed by 3 MJ's nephews!

What do you think of Janet's decision?

She’s done R&B, soul, dance, and even bits of hip-hop, but Janet Jackson still hasn’t dabbled in Spanish-language music. That is, until now. At a recent press for her new Tyler Perry movie, Damita Jo hinted that her next album may include heavy doses of Brazilian music.

Looking back on Janet’s career, it’s clear that she’s had plenty of Latin influences. Her “secret” first husband Rene Elizondo was born in Mexico and helped write many of her famous hits (including “Together Again” from The Velvet Rope). But never before has she fully embraced a tropical sound.

As Janet put it, Brazilian music is a “great love of hers.” Hearing that obviously sparks a ton of curiosity as to which types of South American jams she would want to use. Perhaps the whistles and flutes of their traditional folk music? The Maracatu sounds played throughout Carnivale? Or some good old fashioned Bossa Nova Antonio Carlos Jobim popularized by ?

Whatever she’s cooking up, Janet’s got a great track record when it comes to putting out hot music. Since 1986, nearly all of her albums have topped the charts and don’t get us started on total records sold (40 million worldwide!). We, for one, would love to see her expand her style and bring more popularity to the brilliant sounds coming out of Brazil.

World-renowned fashion designer Alexander McQueen was found dead in London at age 40; early reports say suicide.

The death of the go-to celebrity designer comes just days before the start of London Fashion Week and a few weeks prior to Paris Fashion Week where McQueen was scheduled to show. Perhaps even more telling, his death comes just days after the death of his beloved mother on Feb 2nd.

His office released the following statement:

"At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with McQueen's family. His family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this."

His runway shows — more often like performance pieces because they were so dramatic, and sometimes, bizarre — were always a highlight during the Paris ready-to-wear fashion week.

Alexandra Shulman, the Editor and Chief of British Vogue had this to say:

“McQueen influenced a whole generation of designers. His brilliant imagination knew no bounds as he conjured up collection after collection of extraordinary designs. At one level he was a master of the fantastic, creating astounding fashions shows that mixed design, technology and performance and on another he was a modern day genius whose gothic aesthetic was adopted by women the world over.”

A longtime fashion innovator, the London-born McQueen got his start making custom suits for none other than Prince Charles. He has regularly dressed fashion "It" girls like: Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Jessica Parker, Janet Jackson, and Fergie, just to name a few.

The four-time British Designer of the Year, Commander of the British Empire and International Designer of the Year will be sadly missed. (E!)

The 2009 VMAs was chock full of good music, juicy drama and out-of-this-world fashion.

Janet Jackson's tributo a su hermano, Michael, was not only a really heartfelt memorial, but also featured some of the most renowned choreography in the history of MJ's illustrious career, with recreations of "Thriller," "Bad," "Smooth Criminal," and "Scream."  Lady Gaga’s performance was aún más loca de lo que esperábamos with its bloody grand finale, and  Jay-Z and Alicia Keys closed the show with a hoppin' rendition of  "Empire State of Mind."  In between there were performances by Beyoncé, Green Day, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry -- as well as Wale and the numerous artists (como Pitbull! Latinos represent!) that joined him as the VMA house band.  Pink had arguably one of the best shows of the night when she performed from a flying trapeze!

Host Russell Brand kept the dirty jokes flying, Pop Queen Madonna paid tribute to the late King of Pop, and Kanye West did his best to steal the show but was promptly escorted out of the venue for another awards show outburst.  No nos sorprendió mucho!  Lady Gaga wowed with her ever-inventive vestuario, and even the Twilight cast showed up to show off the drama-filled trailer for 'New Moon.'

While Wisin y Yandel didn’t win for "Best Pop Video," Latin artists were definitely in the house!  Pitbull and Wale performed a hip-hop go-go version of "I Know You Want Me," and Mr. 305 made sure to give a big shout-out to all the Latinos!  Also representing at the show were Shakira, JLo and hubby Marc Anthony, "Blaxican" Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton, and honorary Latina Nelly Furtado who gave el Dúo Dinámico a nod during her presenter's speech.

So what did you guys think about this year's VMAs? Did it meet or exceed your expectations?

Last night's BET Awards showcased a Michael Jackson tribute performance by Ne-Yo and Jamie Foxx...

But the music was silenced once Janet Jackson graced the stage to speak for the first time since her brother passed away on Thursday. An emotional Janet addressed the audience in an all-white outfit as she thanked fans for their support and encouragement. Without a doubt, there was not a single dry eye in the house. Watch Janet's emotional speech right below and let us know what you think. [MTV News]
