Could 2012 be the year that Ivy Queen launches her acting career? It certainly looks that way. The reggaeton songstress is set to take the stage next month for a special production of The Vagina Monologues.

Several famous Latinas have already made their mark reciting the Monologues. Adamari Lopez, Michelle Rodriguez, and Roselyn Sanchez are just a few of the ladies who've gotten rave reviews for their performances. And for Ivy, the experience will be extra special.

This play will actually mark the first time she's ever tested her acting chops. And Ivy's already told the press that she's "very honored" to be a part of the production.

Her big debut will happen on February 26 and feature a special adaptation that's entirely in Spanish. Though Ivy's current run will only be in Florida, we're hopeful that she'll expand her stage presence to even more Vagina venues across the country.

Would you like to see Ivy Queen transition into acting? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.

En un género mayormente dominado por hombres, there’s one woman making herself noticed, and
not just for the long nails and female curves. For the fifth consecutive week, el disco más reciente de Ivy Queen titulado Drama Queen, continues to top Billboard’s Latin Rhythm chart at the #1 spot.

The album’s success is largely fueled por el primer sencillo del disco, “La Vida Es Asi,” a catchy track that begins with an upbeat urban rhythm and melds into a melodic bachata. La Caballota rhymes and sings a story of betrayal and moving on from a bad relationship, un tema con el cual muchos se pueden relacionar.

Ivy Queen

Fans are showing support by accessing her "Drama Line" and either leaving messages or
adding names to her blacklist as payback for their ex's infidelity. You can join in the fun by calling (310) 341-4676 or logging onto Ivy Queen’s official website.

La Diva del género urbano will be headlining the 2010 Machete Music Tour throughout the US, starting this October 14 in Miami. Ivy will perform in 15 major cities, incluyendo a Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Houston, y Las Vegas. Other urban Latino acts joining her on tour are Tego Calderon, Cosculluela, Angel y Khriz, Chino y Nacho, Jowell y Randy, y Flex. Que mujeron entre tanto hombres!

If anyone can hold her own among these guys, we know Ivy can. Suerte y éxito Ivy!

In our latest installment of Deep Thoughts, Blogamole contributor Simone Hilliard talks you into spending your rent money on new music — as if we needed convincing!!! ;)

By Simone Hilliard

Shakira released She-Wolf late last year and Christina Aguilera and Juanes bounced back in 2010 with Bionic and Yerbatero, but as a whole, we haven't heard much from the Latin artists we know and love. Fed up with our recycled playlist, Team Blogamole decided to find out where our favorite singers, songwriters, performers, reggaetoneros, pop princesas and emcees have been hiding.

Wisin y Yandel

Wisin y Yandel: Este reggaetoneros are double teaming the studio and the stage!  They've already extended their wildly popular La Revolución tour and on July 20 they'll release their La Revolución Live LP.  In November, the dynamic duo are scheduled to drop their eighth studio album, El Regreso de Los Vaqueros. We can't wait!

Aventura

Aventura: This Bronx born bachata band are busy touring and making the TV rounds on the likes of "Lopez Tonight." As to when we can expect a follow up to 2009's The Last, we have no idea! Romeo and his boys average a new album every two years, so 2011 can't come soon enough!

Paulina Rubio

Pau Pau: This future mamacita is laying low! We haven't heard from the 39-year-old since her 2009 album Gran City Pop and we honestly don't expect to until she has her first bebe. Then, we'll probably hear a softer sound from the exhibitionist that she'll naturally credit to motherhood, ala Xtina and Thalia.

We have more of the new music you need, after the jump!

Imagine your prima or hija ditching her Barbie doll for an Ivy Queen muñeca!

Bueno, the reality is that La Caballota is ready for play time! The "Dime" singer will launch a reggaetonera doll named "Queenie" that mimics her unique fashion sense and long finger nails (isn't that a child hazard?). The doll, which is manufactured by Global Trading Partners, will be released by Christmas time. We all know Barbie has Ken to make out with...so are they going to hook Ivy up with a plastic reggaetonero? Let's hope so! [People en Español]

It is no wonder why Dayana Mendoza won the Miss Universe crown...

The Venezuelan bombshell was one of the only classic beauties walking the red carpet at the Latin Billboards last night. Her look was all about keeping it simple and sexy in a black embroidered gown and deep plunge neckline. However, negro was not the main color of la noche. Most celebs opted for a splash of rainbow colors including bright violet, yellow, and pink. We must say there were more worst dressed victims than winners, but you decide for yourself...

Best Booty Pose

Gloria Trevi's lace sun-kissed gown vs. Paulina Rubio's very-mini violet dress and silver pumps.

Best Dressed Hombre

Don Omar and Daddy Yankee's crisp tuxes vs. Aventura's dressy casual steez.

Best Bright Belleza

Ivy Queen's satin sunrise strapless gown vs. Fanny Lu's bubblegum pink vestido.

Worst Dressed (a.k.a. Not Green With Envy)

Maria Fernanda Yepes' wannabe J.Lo's Grammy Versace dress vs. Elizabeth Perez's sofrito green gown.

Flex won big at last night's 2009 Latin Billboard Awards at the BankUnited Center in Miami!!!

He did tell us he was going to make history! The Panamanian star is used to spreading his romantic style, but it was time for fans to scream "Te Quiero" in return. Besides throwing down an electrifying performance complete with on-stage fireworks and a unisex dance crew, Flex also snatched the golden premios for categories including, "Hot Latin Song of the Year" and "Latin Album of the Year." Claro, he made his acceptance speeches as entertaining as his dance moves with his random "es que te quiero" bursts of melodies on stage.

Check below the hood for more news and pics on last night's big winners!

Kathy Griffin wasn't the only one feeling like a 'gay Barbie' during the 20th Annual GLAAD Awards on Saturday night.

Jessica Alba and countless of estrellas came out to represent the gay, lesbian, and transsexual community live at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The media awards celebrated the star power willing to fight for equal rights in the entertainment medium and awarded the domestic drama, "Desperate Housewives" and Sean Penn's progressive biopic, "MILK," among others. Latinos including the MTV "Pedro" movie leading lady, Justina Machado, and Broadway veteran, Wilson Cruz, also voiced a prideful message for the LGBT comunidad.

Question is, why did GLAAD supporter Ivy Queen miss this year's festivities? [Los Angeles Times]
