Several reports are suggesting that Rihanna and Chris Brown canceled their Grammy performances due to an alleged physical altercation. According to TMZ, the "Disturbia" singer was attacked by her novio, but the LAPD refuse to release details found in the police report. Despite tight security on the information, the entertainment site also claims that the crime was reported under Rihanna's real name, Robyn Fenty.

Prior to the Grammy's taking-off, word hit la calle that Chris Brown turned himself in and was charged for felony battery. He was later released in $50,000 bail and reports suggest that he was carrying a lethal weapon. In addition, MTV News reports that the police on the scene noticed that the woman 'suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker.'

Our reaction to last week's Grammy nominations? Let's just say La Navidad came early for us, and yes, it did include an overdose of creamy (virgin) eggnog coquito. We are recovering from our blowout by shouting-out our favorite nominees, including the dynamic masterminds Wisin y Yandel.

Our "Artist of the Week" duo are preparing to throw-down the competition by snagging the nomination for "Best Latin Urban Album" for "Los Extraterrestres." Wisin y Yandel will be roughing it out with reggaeton royalty, including nominees RKM & Ken-y for their sophomore LP "The Royalty: La Realeza" and "Los Aguacates de Jiquilpan," Akwid for their testimonial album "La Novela."

It should be no sorpresa that Juanes snatched the nomination for "Best Latin Pop Album" for his premium roquero compilation "La Vida...Es Un Ratico." The vocal humanitarian better tighten his guitarra strings because Luis Fonsi's romantic tunes for "Palabras del Silencio" also rang loudly enough to gain a nomination in the pop category.

The "No Me Doy Por Vencido" singer is definitely going to fight for his first golden Grammy. He recently spoke to us about how his latest compilation fulfilled all his musical desires:

Este disco tuve la oportunidad de co-producirlo con grandes productores, de trabajar con grandes músicos con quienes siempre he querido trabajar, de grabar en lugares hermosos como Londres, Italia, España, México, Los Ángeles, Miami, Brasil y de también colaborar con grandes amigos como Laura Pausini con quien hice un dúo, también hice un cuarteto con Aleks Syntek, con Noel de Sin Bandera y con David Bisbal.

Also adding a grown-up vibe to our alternative palettes...

Ximena Sariñana is redefining the meaning of her "Medicore" album by claiming the nomination for "Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album." The "Error" singer walked away empty-handed at the Latin Grammy bash, but this may be her chance at dulce glory. First, she will have to successfully win the battle with nominees El Grupo Fantasma for their classic "Sonidos Gold"!

Looks like only the biggest of the big were invited to this year's award show! Be sure to check out the complete list of 51st Annual Grammy nominees and spill on your favorite noms aquí. [MTV News]

Sweet victory is priceless...

Whether you were around for Gloria Estefan's Latin pop music invasion in the 80s or have danced to her modern mambo beats, the legendary Cubana defined the meaning of 'crossover' before it even existed. The Miami singer had everyone on their feet at the 2008 Latin Grammy Awards after winning the coveted awards for "Best Traditional Tropical Album" for "90 Millas," "Best Tropical Song" for "Pintame de Colores," and the ultimate "Person of the Year" award.

Word travels fast in el barrio! René Pérez recently decided to respond to Ivy Queen's supposed two-face ways.

According to reports, La Caballota has been hating on the Puerto Rican duo's six-Grammy win by calling them a fake urban rap group. Rumors eventually reached El Visitante's hood, which inspired the rapero to address La Reina's disses in the group's new track “Q lloren.”
