These days it seems like Glee has become a showcase for Latino talent. Not only have they locked in stars like Gloria Estefan and Ricky Martin for singing guest roles, they may now be after Pitbull!
According to the latest rumors, Mr. 305 is currently being courted to play the brother of Naya Rivera's Santana character. It definitely seems like a strange fit, but it wouldn't be the first time Pit’s made an appearance on prime time TV.
The goal would be to have Pitbull, Estefan, and Rivera unite for a massive musical number. Gloria is already set to play Naya's mom, so we imagine it would be a family-related piece at the very least.
The only bummer is that Ricky (who's been tapped to play a Glee Spanish teacher) wouldn't be featured in the same episode. Regardless, it's still a great opportunity to show off stars from the Latin music world. Perhaps down the line, they can throw in Calle 13 as Santana's crazy cousins.
Do you think Pitbull would be a good fit for Glee? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.

"Wepa"! Gloria Estefan's new single off of her 26th album titled "Little Miss Havana" hits number one in Billboard's Dance chart. The infectious new track, produced by Pharrell Williams, evokes the vibrant and energetic sound of Gloria's Miami Sound Machine days with a modern Neptunes vibe. The collaboration between Estefan and Pharrell was sparked by their trainer at the gym. Pretty random, but we'll take it.
The Cuban megastar recently told ABC News:
"I was looking so forward every day to going into the studio. I kept telling Pharrell, This is how I felt when we were doing 'Primitive Love' way back in the day. It was fresh and very exciting."
Everyone else seems to agree! The album is exclusively available at Target and will also be released digitally worldwide on October 18th.
Are you feeling Gloria Estefan's new track "Wepa"?

President Obama's office announced today that they have named four individuals to key administration posts, and Shakira is among them!
The posts in question are four seats on the President's Commission On Educational Education for Hispanics, which is described as "a multi-agency working group within the Department of Education charged with strengthening the nation's capacity to provide high quality education while increasing opportunities for Hispanic American participation in federal education programs... closing the educational achievement gap for Hispanic Americans."
The individuals who have been honored with these appointments are:
Montgomery County, Maryland Councilperson and Education Activist, Nancy Navarro
Executive Director of the Partnership for Community Action, Adrian A. Pedroza
Phoenix, Arizona High School Superintendent, Dr. Kent P. Scribner
Activist and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll
That's right - the President of the United States just hired Colombian-born pop star Shakira!
We are totally thrilled to hear that Shaki will have a hand in shaping the minds of generations of Hispanic youth. After all, she brings tons of experience and insight to the role, and will add a global perspective to the team:
"Per the White House: Ms. Mebarak Ripoll has been involved in a number of global educational efforts. She founded the Barefoot Foundation in 1995, which operates schools and educational projects in Colombia, South Africa, and Haiti, feeding and educating approximately 6,000 children. In 2010, she collaborated with the World Bank and the Barefoot Foundation to establish an initiative that distributes educational and developmental programs for children across Latin America", says the statement.
And it adds,
"In 2008, Ms. Mebarak Ripoll served as the Honorary Chair of the Global Campaign for Education’s Global Action Week. In 2005, she became a founding member of Latin America in Solidarity Action, a coalition of artists and business leaders seeking to promote integrated early childhood public policies."
Wow! An impressive resume! And she sings a little, too.
So, is this appointment also a clever political maneuver to curry favor with Hispanics and particularly Hispanic youths in what is sure to be a difficult presidential re-election campaign for Obama? Is the President merely giving his Hispanic Education initiative a friendly and recognizable public face with built-in publicity value? Would a republican president have made a similar appointment?
What's your take? Speak out in the comments!

Waking up to the sound of lighting was a definite sign of a very gloomy California afternoon but the sun gods came through for the ALMA Awards. Upon my arrival to the Santa Monica Civic Center where the 2011 Awards were being held there wasn't a single gray cloud in sight. The evening was bound to be a complete celebration especially with so many talented Latinos walking the red carpet.
There were so many familiar faces on the carpet I grew up watching on television. For example, Maria Celeste Arrarás. When I was younger my abuelita would always watch Primer Impacto and stress me out about the news. The moment I met her on Saturday I felt like she was going to give me a breaking news story or some depressing news of a third world country, but she didn't. She complimented my make-up and dress which is really nice but not what I was expecting. I was looking forward to a news-filled conversation about bombs over Baghdad or virus filled milk... maybe next time.
Moving forward, the carpet was awesome! One of the highlights I had was a 'pinky promise moment' with Mr.Edward James Olmos. Let's just say I have bought a few books online on the fundamentals of theater and acting since then. I met Gloria Estefan which was EPIC! Did you know Pharrell Williams co-produced her new album Miss Little Havana?!?!? There's a video online of studio footage with her and Mr.305 himself Pitbull doing the remix for WEPA which will mostly make an impact in radio since it involves Pit. Want your song played on the radio...hire Pit! Ha!
Now it was time for the ALMA Awards! I felt so privileged to be in a room filled with amazing talent and extremely proud to be Latina. I really wanted to be on that stage co-hosting with George Lopez and Eva! Okay, I know, I know, I need to relax. Can a girl dream? Yeah! I had two unforgettable moments at the awards, one was Pitbull waving at me before hitting the stage and two was Edward James Olmos saying "see you soon" as he left the venue! The ALMA Awards committee did an incredible job at this years show. Check out a few pictures that I captured from the carpet!
Until next time...xo Karli

It's hard to believe that Gloria Estefan's long-awaited new album is just a few weeks away. Little Miss Havana is set to hit shelves on September 27 and the Conga queen has given fans an online sneak peek of the tropical title track.
In one of her trademark "WEPA-sodes," Gloria is seen getting dolled up in the makeup chair and playing around with hubby Emilio. There is also a retro jukebox on display, which we’re sure will play into the "Havana" video.
The song actually sounds like a slight throwback to Estefan's Miami Sound Machine days. There are hints of Spanish and English, as well as a few salsa rhythms that’ll make it a great autumn dance tune.
And though we'll have to wait three more weeks to hear it in its entirety, we're sure Gloria will deliver more "WEPA-sodes" to build the hype. And in case you didn't notice, that's her son Nayib sitting in the director's chair.

If you loved "La Quinta Estación", then you have heard the caramel-like, passionate voice of Natalia Jiménez, its lead singer, who quickly became not only one of Mexico most beloved singers, but also a fashion icon.
After a long wait, the sensational singer-songwriter will release her self-titled album on June 21. The production is the first solo work for the Spanish artist who, over the course of many years, served as lead vocalist and front-woman for one of the most important and awarded bands in the Spanish music industry worldwide.
The album will be released by Sony Music Latin and constitutes Natalia's first time collaborating as co-producer, alongside multi Grammy-award-winning music producer, Emilio Estefan. It includes two songs in English.
"It is refreshing to find an artist that has all of the necessary elements: beauty, a great sense of fashion, but most importantly, an artist that has an extraordinary voice and also has the ability to write incredible lyrics," said Estefan regarding the project.
"I'm really happy! I love my first album as a solo artist. I think it is the most versatile record of my career, and also I’m very proud of having Emilio Estefan as a producer on my project," said Natalia. I believe this album is very international, compared to my previous work with La Quinta Estación."

The video for the song was filmed in Miami's Spanish Monastery and was directed by Carlos Pérez.
"Por Ser Tu Mujer" was also recorded in English under the title "I'll Do What It Takes" and translated by Natalia and Gloria Estefan. Fans will be able to listen to this version, which is also included on Natalia Jiménez. She also recorded another song in English, "I'll Take It Back".
As part of the promotion for this album Natalia is partnering with Target Corporation to release a deluxe edition, which will include five exclusive tracks. The special edition is only available at Target stores and Target.com beginning June 21.

With the hype of the NBA Finals, the Miami music icon Gloria Estefan released her latest song "Wepa" in honor of the Miami Heat and the great season they played. The video was shot in Miami's American Airlines Arena and features the excitement of a Miami Heat Game. Miami at night, Heat players jamming, spinning cheerleaders, dancing fans and of course... glorious Gloria on fire.
Although the Dallas Mavericks took the championship trophy by beating the Miami Heat this weekend, thanks to Gloria the Miami Heat now has their own anthem! (Mavericks, where is your anthem sung by a major Latin superstar? Huh?!)
"Wepa" is the first single from Gloria's upcoming album "Miss Little Havana". The up tempo Latin-flavored "Wepa" was produced by Pharrell Williams. The song's rhythm is very catchy; the progressive Latin beats make you instinctively want to shake it like a Polaroid picture! "Wepa" is a feel-good song that transmits the positive energy of Miami's happy, beautiful people.

Anyone who's followed Thalía's career, knows that she was incredible close to her mother. Yolanda Miranda managed her famous daughter for many years and her shocking death last week has left the pop star reeling. Now eight-and-a-half months pregnant, Thalía made the risky trip to Mexico City to attend her madre's funeral.
Most doctors would not advise a 39-year-old woman to fly during such an advanced stage of pregnancy. But that didn't stop Thalía from chartering a private jet with hubby Tommy Mottola. The two arrived in Mexico City hours before the scheduled funeral and, from the pictures that were published, it was clear that she was extremely distraught.
It now appears that Yolanda died as a result of a stroke. The good news is that she most likely did not suffer, but it was still completely unexpected and a devastating loss. Since the news broke, several celebrities have sent out condolence tweets to Thalía and her family.
Talk show host Cristina Saralegui posted,
"My deepest sympathies to @Thalía and her entire family on the death of her mother Yolanda Miranda. Sending love to you all."
Gloria Estefan tweeted her prayers as well,
"Our heart is hurting for this unexpected loss but the love that Yolanda, mother of @thalia, left in this world will live on forever!"
And even Paulina Rubio, who herself lost a parent this year, offered words of encouragement, in spite of her publicized differences with Thalía.
"We're with you @thalia. My greatest condolences. We know you are a warrior just like she was and you will rise above. Remember the light that you have inside and all around you. #fuerzathalia I join in prayer."

It’s clear that Miami’s Bank United Center was the place to be on Thursday night. The 11th annual Billboard Latin Music Awards not only brought out plenty of famous faces, it delivered an evening of incredible live performances. From Luis Fonsi’s tweet parade, to Gloria Trevi’s motorcycle-themed dance number, it easily gave this year’s ceremony a run for its money.
Enrique Iglesias gets the credit as the big winner of the night. Taking home nine awards (including Artist of the Year), he made sure to thank the collaborators that helped him create his smash Euphoria album. Juan Luis Guerra, Pitbull, and Wisin y Yandel (who joined Enrique onstage for “No Me Digas”) all got their shout outs in his acceptance speeches.
Expressing his love for the Latin culture at the podium, Enrique said,
"My life has been filled with good moments and bad moments but there is one thing that has been constant and that's been the public. We have to keep having babies so there can be more and more of us and, hopefully, one day, there will be there will be more Latins than anything. We are already almost there."
Other big winners of the night included Aventura (who took the stage minus Romeo) and Camila. Proving they were still very much intact, Mario Domm and company wowed the crowd with a performance that included a giant white angel.
Tr3s fave Prince Royce walked away with four awards during the night, while Shakira kept her arms full with six Billboard statuettes. Gloria Estefan got a huge response from the crowd when she walked onstage to accept her Billboard Spirit of Hope Award, which honored her philanthropic work.
And as far as the performances went, Don Omar’s live interpretation of “Danza Kuduro” (which is currently being featured in Fast Five) got a huge response, as did Marc Anthony’s showstopping ballad.
But nothing can quite top the night’s grand finale, which united Pitbull, T-Pain, and Jencarlos Canela for triple set of uptempo songs. Perhaps El Don summed up the evening best with his enthusiastic tweet from the afterparty.
“Una noche HISTORICA! Gracias a todos!”
