Would you have a problem with Dame Salma Hayek? Or Lady Salma Hayek? We sure wouldn't. But we're not the citizens of France. It seems several notable French publications are crying foul about a potential knighthood for the Puss In Boots star.
Less about Salma and more about politics, Hayek's knighthood revolves around her hubby Francois Henri Pinault and his father, Francois Sr. French President Nicolas Sarkozy bestowed the family with the honor last week, which many feel is more about friendship than national integrity.
France's National Order of the Legion of Honor (as it is officially called) was first created by Napoleon Bonaparte in the 1800's as an award for military service. Clearly the Pinault fam didn't help the country win any battles, which is why the citizens feel they are not worthy of the title.
France's popular newsmagazine L’Express claims that Bonaparte would "turn over in his grave" if he knew about the Pinaults getting knighted. We think that's stretching things a little, especially when you consider that Hollywood celebs like Clint Eastwood and Jerry Lewis have received the honor too.
Do you think Salma is worthy of knighthood? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.

A while back, we told you about the baby daddy drama surrounding Salma Hayek's husband, François-Henri Pinault. Apparently he fathered a child with supermodel Linda Evangelista at the same time that Salma's girl Valentina was being born. And now Evangelista is asking the French businessman to pay her $46,000 a month in child support!
Granted Pinault is a very wealthy man, but $46k a month is steep by anyone's standards. If Linda gets her way, he'll have to fork up over half a million dollars a year. But according to Evangelista, it's hardly wasteful. She says she needs it for around-the-clock nanny care, personal drivers, and vacations.
As of right now, it's up to the New York courts to decide exactly how much of Pinault's cash gets divvied up for his now 4-year-old son. But even the judge seems to think that Linda's demands are a tad exorbitant.
"These are the extraordinary expenses that may be a part of the child's life," he reportedly said during the trial.
Evangelista's lawyers claim that Pinault has paid zero child support thus far and seem confident that they can make a major dent in his pocketbook. Not surprisingly, Salma has continued to pull the "no comment" card on the issue.
Do you think Linda Evangelista is being unfair with her demands? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.

Could Salma Hayek-Pinault's daughter Valentina have a new brother? No, your favorite Mexican bombshell isn't losing her lust worthy figure anytime soon. Rather, Salma's billionaire hubby Francois-Henri Pinault was recently named the father of former supermodel Linda Evangelista's 4-year-old son Augustin.
The CEO and former model reportedly conceived the love child while Salma and Francois were separated during a brief stint in 2006. The couple later went on to marry in 2009.
While Francois has long been suspected as Evangelista's baby's father, the model vehemently denied the allegations and told reporters in 2007 that Augustin's father was a New York City architect.
However, Linda has recently started proceedings in order to receive child support for the 4-year-old from Pinault. This Thursday was the model's third or fourth trip to Family Court. No agreement was reached, making a full support trial seem likely. Pinault did not attend the proceedings.
The CEO of a $28 billion dollar conglomerate that owns Gucci, Bottega Veneta and Yves St. Laurent, Pinault can certainly afford the support. We wonder why he's so resistant...reputation or ego?
Pinault also has two older children from a previous relationship whom he acknowledges, as well as his 4-year-old daugther Valentina with wife Salma.
Do you think Pinault's the father or Evangelista's child? Let us know in the comments, or @MTV3.

When you are Salma Hayek, the sky is the limit! The Mexican actress may have conquered Hollywood, but her real dream is to record an album with help from her millionaire husband, François-Henri Pinault.
Word is that Salma Hayek wants to record an album in the fandango genre, a typical musical style from Veracruz, Mexico. The actress has also been spotted flying to Miami and meeting with top list producer Emilio Estefan on several occasions. Even though she confesses to wanting to hit the mic, Hayek says that she doesn't claim to be a 'professional' singer in the least:
"I don't want to put out a commercial album. It's only a dream I've had for quite some time now."
The actress is familiar with the recording music industry. In 2002 she recorded two songs for the soundtrack of her movie "Frida" with jarocho band Los Vega. She also sang "Quedate aquí" for the movie Desperado.
Even if she's not interested in becoming the next J.Lo, we would love to snag a copy of her album!
Do you think Salma Hayek has what it takes to become a singer?

Wedding bells are ringing to a pricey tune for Salma Hayek. The beautiful bride-to-be is reaching deep into her bank account to spend an estimated $3.5 million on her wedding with billionaire businessman and baby-daddy Francois-Henri Pinault.
Invited to the royal nuptials, taking place over five days next spring in France, are 400 of the couple's closest family and friends. It's rumored that la Mexicana has requested a lavish $500K custom-made wedding gown from Balenciaga wunderkind Nicolas Ghesquiere, and a deliciously sinful $100K seven-tier wedding cake.
