Oh snap! Who knew real life and fiction would cross paths like this...

Eva Mendes and the production crew were forced to end filming for an upcoming film about la vida of a hardcore drug smuggler in Mexico titled, "Queen of the South." The Jonathan Jakubowicz was forced to yell out 'CUT' prematurely after receiving threatening phone calls from unidentified suspects of the Mexican mob.

Jonathan released the following statement to the movie going public:

I've worked really hard to make this beautiful movie, but the safety of my family and my team comes first. Making this movie [would have] put us all at risk, not only in Mexico but in the U.S. The world should pray for peace in Mexico.

Guess la diva Eva can't pretend to be la reina of the south. We hope she doesn't have to watch her back. What do you think about this gangster chisme? [NBC]

Don't we always wonder what the opposite sex is thinking?

Askmen.com knew the deal and decided to prompt online users to vote on the Top 99 Women of 2009. Don't expect to see an around-the-way chick on this lista because this is all about Hollywood swagger! Eva Mendes' undeniable sex appeal and classic glamor owned the number one spot, but there were plenty of other Latinas that measured in as the most desirable beauties of the year (and no, J.Lo was not one of them).

Marking #15 was Jessica Alba. No doubt, her flawless figura and sultry sonrisa demands MILF attention.

Can't get enough? Check out the other ten Latinas that made the list below the jump!

The Razzie Awards are back to blow-up the box-office bombs that deserve to be burned para toda una vida.

Turns out the academy was not impressed by A-list Latinas, Cameron Diaz, Eva Mendes, and Jessica Alba. The Razzies consists of eight out of the 687 voters who also participate as judges for the prestigious Golden Globe Awards, pues when they say it stinks...it stinks.

Cameron was dissed for her flirty role opposite Ashton Kutcher in "What Happens in Vegas," while Eva la diva was nominated for the "Worst Actress" award for "The Women." The wanna-be funny comedy, "The Love Guru" received the highest honor with the most nominations, including La Alba's "Worst Actress" nom.

There is no denying that these flicks were yawn inducing, but were they really as bad as Kim K's "Disaster Movie"?! What do you think? The awards premiere on February 21st. [Reuters]

Watch out for the mysterious Sand Saref...

Eva Mendes' bad girl character in Frank Miller's "The Spirit" cleverly exposes the transition of a childhood sweetheart gone bad...really bad. 'La Diva Eva' plays an exotic jewelry thief notorious for killing all fourteen of her husbands. Did we also mention she strips in the movie? However, the rated-R role didn't stop Mendes from making her mamacita proud. Turns out the film premiered at the Mann's Chinese Theater, where Eva's mother used to work as a clerk.

She states:

She worked at the gift shop and sometimes she'd work in the theater. So taking her back the other night to where she used to be an employee, and taking her as my mother, my date... she's very proud.

From el barrio to Hollywood chicos! Sounds like even her mami is desensitized by Eva Mendes flashing her goodies. From her sexy scripts to her tantalizing Calvin Klein underwear ads! If you got it flaunt it...no es cierto? [Showbiz]

Don't let good looks fool you...

It turns out Eva Mendes is a nerd! La Cubana recently revealed some of her dorkiest pleasures, including attending the annual San Diego Convention, which is famous for freaky costumes and comic book aficionados. MTV News caught-up with "The Spirit" actress, who quickly confessed to being a major comicon fan. It’s no wonder she is starring in Frank Miller's new film, which is based on the animated action-packed series.

MTV News caught-up with Eva about her new role:

I get paid to do that, so I get it. I get the whole dressing up, wanting to be somebody else thing, really well. I like when adults can give in to it!

Is Eva the perfect mixture of beauty and geek? We think the answer is obvious. [MTV News]

Not even la bella Eva Mendes is guaranteed a seat at Barack Obama's inauguration.

Reports forecast that at least 4 million supporters are expected to attend the historic event on January 20th. Shakira and Beyonce have secured spots after being invited to perform live, but what about Eva the diva, who won't be singing the star-spangled banner? Unfortunately, she is turned-down just like most of us.

Eva recently spoke about not being able to snatch a ticket:

I thought I had some pull—I usually do, and I've been shut down. It's the hardest party to get into...We are still working on it, but I understand the whole thing.

They don't want to make it a celebrity studded event because this in an extremely crucial time in our history and in our world right now. I completely understand that. But of course, I would love to go and be there.

According to our research, tickets are ranging from $2,000 to $8,000! We are sure Eva has the bank account to make it happen. Have you tried to hold your spot at the inauguration? [Latina]

BEWARE HATERS: Gloria Trevi is adapting her rocker steez onto the big-screen.

The "Cinco Minutos" singer has spent a decade battling her controversial past in the public eye, but now La Trevi is spilling all of the juicy details and real life drama in an upcoming biographical film. La Trevi confessed the chisme to a Puerto Rican newspaper, and revealed that she wants the flick to represent a universal message of struggle and hope.

She says,

Don't expect La Trevi to bring out her own ripped leggings and teased hair for la película. She will not be starring in the movie herself, but a casting call has gone out to A-list Latina actresses, including Eva Mendes and Jessica Alba. Production will begin in 2009.

Eva has the look, and Jessica...well we aren't too sure about that one! Who do you think would put-on a four star performance? [La Oreja]

Oh snap! It appears that we have a battle of las divas between Eva Mendes and Jennifer Lopez in the works...

Half naked Calvin Klein temptress Eva Mendes is usually letting her body do all of the talking, but the seductive Cubana is also revealing her uncensored thoughts for the London publication Es Magazine. Besides dishing on her sexy role as a mistress in "The Women," la Eva confesses how she truly feels about being compared to the notorious diva Jennifer Lopez.

She bluntly states:

I would like to think I will have a more serious career than J-Lo. We may both be of Latin origin but that’s where the comparisons stop. She manages her career like the head of a big corporation, whereas the only thing I care about is becoming the best actress possible.

Ouch! We guess those underwear ads have really gotten to her head. J.Lo's acting career remains questionable to some, but both of these ladies end up plugged into romantic comedies verdad? Perhaps Eva lands more 'serious' roles, but why diss a fellow Latina if you are that good at your craft?

Maybe she is hating because she poses for 'the man' while J.Lo models for her own perfume line! There is no doubt that La Lopez is going to step up to the plate with her own fighting words. Who do you think deserves to win this battle of las divas? [Es Magazine]
