Maybe the Mayan end-of-the-world prediction got to people because this past new year's the parties were raging like never before! Several famous faces were spotted all over the country Saturday night, ringing in 2012 with plenty of style.

Over in Florida, Diddy hosted a huge party at his Miami estate. Known for throwing extravagant NYE bashes, the music mogul maintained his rep by launching a massive fireworks show and welcoming famous guests like Rihanna, Fat Joe, and Busta Rhymes. No official word on whether his rumored galpal, Cameron Diaz, was in attendance, but it certainly wouldn't surprise us if she was.

Interestingly, another Miami local made major headlines that night too. Heat superstar LeBron James rung in the new year as an engaged man! He popped the question to longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson during a romantic dinner at a South Beach restaurant.

Over on the east coast, Tr3s faves Pitbull and Diego Torres made the rounds at New York's historic Times Square.

Pit's energetic performance of "Give Me Everything" was seen by over 13 million viewers on ABC's New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Mr. 305 was also on hand to watch the famous ball drop for the Dick Clark countdown.

Elsewhere in the city, new couple Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling shared a romantic evening at the Bowery Hotel. Selena Gomez hit the East Coast too, partying with boyfriend Justin Bieber until 3 am! And for the record, "The Biebs" earned quite a bit of musical credibility that night for his impassioned "Let It Be" duet with Carlos Santana.

As expected, Las Vegas proved to be a big NYE hotspot too. Kim Kardashian earned a cool $60,000 for hosting an Eve party at Tao in the Venetian Hotel. Stevie Wonder also nabbed a nice chunk of change on Saturday, performing to a sold-out crowd at Sin City's Cosmopolitan Resort.

On the west coast, Katy Perry seemed to be all smiles at L.A.'s trendy Soho House. The newly single star was seen dancing and partying alongside some of her closest friends. Mario Lopez hosted a sizable bash at Hollywood's Kodak Theater which included guests like Cobra Starship and a DJ performance by Tom Cruise's son, Connor.

And as far as the celebrity tweets go, many stars took time to reflect on 2011 and the exciting things in store for next year.

"I wanna wish you all a happy and safe new year," Bruno Mars wrote. "I thought 2010 was great but thanks to you guys 2011 has been the greatest year of my life!"

"Happy New Year! Health - happiness and love to you all!" Jessica Alba posted.

And Sofia Vergara sent out one of her signature Twitpix along with the quote, "Feliz anoooo!"

Ok, maybe we got ahead of ourselves with the title of this post. "Pre-production" is more like it. But regardless, Vin Diesel has now officially confirmed that the Fast & Furious franchise is getting two more sequels.

Diesel (who's also a Fast producer) thrilled fans with his announcement this week, particularly because he confirmed the participation of the last movie's stellar cast.

"We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages," Vin explained. "The studio said, 'You can't fit all that story in one damn movie!"

Obviously that's great news for Tr3s fans. Several of our favorite peeps have been a part of the franchise and if they're really "all coming back," you can expect appearances from Don Omar, Tego Calderón, Michelle Rodriguez, and Eva Mendes!

We're hoping we can expect the first of the two movies by summer 2013.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes sure make a cute couple for the paparazzi photographers. And they clearly make a cute couple onscreen. The two celebrity lovebirds have now filmed their first short movie together, for the comedy website Funny Or Die.

Entitled Drunk History Christmas, the five-and-a-half minute clip features a whiskey-fueled retelling of the classic "Night Before Christmas" poem. In it, Ryan and Eva are seen cuddling happily in bed. Of course, it all gets interrupted when an inebriated Santa Claus slides down the chimney.

Played sheepishly by Jim Carrey, Old St. Nick makes plenty of colorful faces for the camera. There are also hilarious "doggie reindeer" scenes, slurred holiday speeches, and Christmas clichés skewered lovingly by the FOD staff.

Since its posting this week, Drunk History Christmas has already gotten 1.2 million views. Clearly the fans love seeing Gosling and Mendes hamming it up together. And you can see how well their chemistry works on the big screen when their movie The Place Beyond The Pines arrives in 2012.

There is no denying that 2011 was the year of the Tweet. The hashtag social network had a major spike in popularity and was even responsible for breaking a few news stories. But are you curious as to what buzzwords got the most attention? Well guess no longer, Twitter has now released its annual Hot Topic list, which happens to include a few famous Latinos.

On the movie side of things, the 2011 Hot Topics all seemed to be based around comic book flicks. Films like Thor, The Dark Knight Rises, and X-Men: First Class dominated the list. But it’s also interesting to note that The Green Hornet (featuring Cameron Diaz) and Fast Five (with Elsa Pataky) scored high too, proving that sexy Latinas strike a very strong chord in the Twitterverse.

In the music realm, Rebecca Black (who's part Latina) was the number one Tweeted topic. Britney Spears showed she still has plenty of staying power with a #3 ranking for Femme Fatale. You've got to wonder if that massively successful Mexico concert contributed to her continuous stream of Tweets.

Names like Jennifer Lopez and Charlie Sheen dominated the Celebrity Hot Topics, along with several stars who have passed on. Elizabeth Taylor proved to be the most popular female celeb, followed not to far behind by fallen Jackass alum, Ryan Dunn.

In the sports world, teams like the Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks stirred up a flurry of activity. And so did Spanish soccer star, Fernando Torres. Interestingly, on the Hot Topics futbol list, Torres ranked higher than both Lionel "Leo" Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Curious about the most posted hashtags of 2011? Twitter went global for this one. #Egypt was by far the most popular, representing the civil unrest that happened there earlier in the year. #Japan ranked in the Top 5 too, as did #ThreeWordsToLiveBy and the Charlie Sheen catchphrase, #TigersBlood.

And, as a bonus, Hispanically Speaking compiled a list of the most famous Latinos to open Twitter accounts in 2011. That would be Christina Aguilera (who signed on in March), Eva Mendes (who joined in October), and good ol' Charlie Sheen, who's gathered 5.8 million followers in just nine months!

Ok, there is no denying that Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are now "officially" a couple. The two mega stars were seen getting very cozy in Paris over the weekend all but confirming their hot-and-heavy romantic status.

According to Latina, Gosling booked a flight to France just to be near Eva for the Thanksgiving holiday. She had been completing scenes (in Amy Winehouse makeup) for her upcoming film Holly Motors and was clearly missing some companionship on turkey day.

So, like any good boyfriend, Ryan dropped in and took her on a tour of France's most exciting locales. The two reportedly visited the famed Père Lachaise cemetery and walked hand-in-hand on the streets of Paris.

By Sunday they were spotted at Charles de Gaulle airport, where Gosling bid his lady love adieu. But we're sure once she gets back stateside, the two will be hooking up again, perhaps in the comforts of Disneyland?

No, Eva Mendes will not be starring in The Amy Winehouse Story. But the 37-year-old actress did channel the fallen singer on the set of her new film, Holly Motors. Sporting a beehive hairdo, black eyeshadow, and a leopard-print jacket, Eva was a dead ringer for the late great Amy.

Holly Motors is currently being shot in France and follows the adventures of a man who inhabits several different lives. Looking at Mendes' getup, we're assuming one of them takes place in the swinging 1960's.

The film also stars Kylie Minogue and will feature a primarily French cast. So far, there's no word on whether or not Eva will be doing any singing in the movie. But judging by the way she's dressed up, we're hopeful they can stick "Rehab" into at least one scene.

And don't worry mainstream movie fans, Mendes won't be acting in French art house films forever. Outside of Holly Motors, she's set to star in the comedy Girl In Progress and, quite possibly, the eagerly-anticipated Fast Six!

It may be a little unfair to call the latest Angel perfume spot a "commercial." Playing more like a mini-movie, it clocks in at over 2 minutes, has dozens of special effects, and features Eva Mendes singing her heart out.

Helmed by music video director Baillie Walsh, the concept involves Mendes boarding a train and getting whisked off into an elegant fantasy land. Interestingly, you never actually see the perfume bottle in the spot. Instead, it's all about Eva wearing an array of gorgeous costumes.

The soundtrack features Mendes singing the 1960's hit, "The Windmills of Your Mind" (which has been covered by everyone from Dizzie Gillespie to Jose Feliciano). And for anyone who's curious, Eva does have some pretty solid vocal chops.

We're thinking Mendes must wear the Angel scent pretty well. Perhaps she'll even bust it out for her next big Disneyland date!

Talk about a diverse cast. The latest addition to Eva Mendes' upcoming movie See If I Care sounds very intriguing and has us wondering just what the 2012 comedy-drama has in store. Banda singer Espinoza Paz has now signed on to the project, which also features Eugenio Derbez, Raini Rodriguez, and Patricia Arquette.

Described as a coming-of-age movie, See If I Care was written by up-and-coming scribe Hiram Martinez. Hiram's previous work includes the critically-acclaimed indie flick Four Dead Batteries and he's currently penning a project for Mad Men’s Jon Hamm.

Espinoza will reportedly have a rather small role, but he seems very excited about it nonetheless. Paz was particularly thrilled to be filming scenes with the always hilarious Derbez.

"They asked me if I was up for doing something and I did three scenes with Eugenio where I mess around with him because I play his cousin in the story," Espinoza said. "I don't know [Eva] very well, but she was nice and Eugenio is cool, very talkative."

According to IMDb, you can catch See If I Care in theaters by early next year.

There's nothing like adding a little female empowerment to Hispanic Heritage Month. This past week, a bevy of beautiful starlets descended upon the Beverly Hills Hotel for the annual Variety Power of Women Luncheon. Honoring the most philanthropic ladies in Hollywood, this year's event gave kudos to Katie Holmes, Jennifer Garner, and Eva Mendes.

"The goal of Variety's Power of Women is to celebrate women in entertainment who have made significant contributions to the philanthropic and charitable causes closest to their hearts,” Variety publisher Michelle Sobrino said. “By honoring this incredible group of high-profile women who are leading the charge, we hope to inspire and empower everyone within our industry -- and throughout the world -- to get involved and give back."

Eva was recognized for her work with the Art of Elysium organization. A charity that truly celebrates the arts, Mendes' cause offers free acting, music, and writing classes to children battling serious medical conditions.

Outside of the honorees, the Variety luncheon brought out quite a few famous do gooders eager to cheer their fellow ladies on. Eva Longoria, Olivia Wilde, and Glee’s Lea Michele all made sure to show their support for their fellow Women.

With all the recent talk of New York and Venice Film Festivals, we thought it would be interesting to add a Cannes selection to our Pelis and Popcorn rotation. This week's movie, We Own The Night, has got a ton of top-notch talent behind it, including a prime role for Tr3s fave Eva Mendes.

Set in the world of New York cops and robbers, Night explores issues like family, revenge, and redemption. There's Joaquin Phoenix (before he went off the deep end) as a disenchanted nightclub owner, Mark Wahlberg as his by-the-book NYPD brother, and acting legend Robert Duvall as the badge-wearing patriarch of the family.

Though it was made in 2007, Night is actually set 23 years in the past and does a great job of emulating the essence of late 1980's New York. Joaquin's nightclub has all of the dated music and fashions you would expect and it's also got an ongoing rotation of shady clientele.

Actor Alex Veadov does a great job playing the evil Russian gangster who becomes Phoenix's number one customer. Rather than cooperate with his "family of cops," Joaquin chooses to keep the underground party going…until someone very close to him gets hurt.

That's when we really start to see Wahlberg, Phoenix, and Duvall flex their acting chops. Keep in mind that We Own The Night was Joaquin's followup to his Oscar-nominated Johnny Cash role in Walk The Line. Here, he's demonstrating just as much talent as he evolves from shady club owner to honorable brother and son.

Part crime drama, part action flick, part 1980's rewind, We Own The Night is definitely a P and P selection to put on your radar. And all you Eva fans may want to take note. She literally "bares all" on the movie's unrated DVD!
