There are a lot of reasons to get excited about the new season of The X Factor. Not only have they locked in Britney Spears as a new judge, Tr3s fave Demi Lovato will be joining the series too!

For the past few months, several music A-listers have been mentioned as possible additions to the show. Janet Jackson's name had been floated around, as had Mariah Carey's.

But nabbing Brit and Demi seems like a very shrewd move. Spears, as we all know, is an international superstar who will attract fans of 90's pop and beyond. Lovato, on the other hand, is huge with the tween crowd and has a strong Latino fanbase to boot.

The new X season should kick off later this fall, with auditions happening over the summer. And, just like those other reality singing competitions , we're sure you can expect lively performances from the new celebrity judges.

It's no secret Demi Lovato has been in rehab for an eating disorder that spun out of control, but now she is coming clean about her drug use in the past. Besides contributing to her eating disorder, the bullying and loneliness Demi experienced caused her to turn to drugs.

Lovato first admitted,

"It's something I don't really want to talk about."

The star then volunteered more information about her dark past. Demi said,

"What I can say is that I was depressed. I would come off stage in front of 18,000 people and suddenly be alone in a hotel room. I'd come crashing down and would try to find a way to recreate that feeling, to stay 'up'."

Demi also shared how promoters always had drugs available to encourage her to appear at the clubs. She said,

"Promoters gave me drugs and alcohol in restaurants or clubs. They wanted me to come back so I would be seen there. They were basically kissing my ass. I thought they were my friends. I thought I was having fun. Being a celebrity can be dangerous. Nobody says 'no'. That's why so many end up overdosing and dying. It could definitely have happened to me."

Although pursuing treatment in rehab was not Demi's idea, the young starlet didn't exactly have any objections to going. She knew she had a problem she had to address. Demi recalls how she felt during a three-month stay in rehab,

"It was really, really hard and scary. I was homesick and lonely and several times I thought f*** it, I'm leaving. But my mum told me I would regret it. This was my only chance."

Demi is now a healthy size 10-12 and is embracing her naturally curvy Latina body. She admits it was "terrifying being heavier" after she had been unnaturally thin for such a long time. Luckily, she has also embraced better eating habits and is less obsessed about food and her weight.

Lovato explained,

"I don't deprive myself- I had a Kit Kat last night, but I don't eat s*** every day. I have a meal service that brings my food to my home so I don't have to think about being healthy."

Do you think promoters used drugs to lure Demi into the clubs?

It looks to us like Demi Lovato is having one helluva South American vacation. Just a few short days after dealing with some “hair-raising” fans in Venezuela, the pop singer was spotted in Rio de Janeiro splashing around at a local beach.

Snapped in a tan two-piece, Demi was all smiles as she playfully frolicked in the ocean. Several sites remarked on her fuller figure, which is a good thing considering the eating disorder issues she had previously been battling.

But of course, her Brazilian excursion wasn’t all fun and games. Lovato was in town to perform a concert and to get some recognition for her Latin American record sales.

Before her Thursday concert, Demi was presented with a plaque for the success of her Unbroken album. She then took the stage at Citibank Hall and wowed the crowd with live renditions of “All Night Long,” “Skyscraper” and “Dynamite.”

Demi Lovato's stylists certainly had their hands full this past weekend in Venezuela. During her whirlwind tour of South America, the pop diva came in close contact with several eager fans who wound up pulling out lochs of her hair!

"17 freaking bodyguards yesterday and I STILL got my hair pulled!!! Hahahahaha Venezuela you are INSANE!!! I love you guys," she tweeted after the incident.

Clearly Demi took it all in stride and even joked about how her massive army of bodyguards seemed to get overpowered. Despite the mishap, Lovato put on a spectacular concert and worked in several new songs.

Demi will be in South America for the remainder of the week, hitting up Peru, Brazil and Chile for shows. Hopefully she can pick up a few sombreros along the way to protect that precious pelo!

It seems Demi Lovato also has a wild side. She recently spoke out about her struggles with an eating disorder and how she would like to help young women going through the same thing. However, it seems the musical starlet also has a little bit of that rock and roll wild child in her.

Lovato confessed,

"I break things. I've trashed dressing rooms just for the hell of it. I like to throw things when I'm bored. I was trying to catch the deli meat on the ceiling. It ended up turning into a kind of food fight."

Aside from throwing lunch meats on the ceiling of her dressing room "just for fun," Lovato confessed to taking things a bit overboard sometimes. The singer claimed,

"I've done some pretty rock and roll things that I probably shouldn't talk about."

Demi also talked about her life after going to rehab. She said,

"I felt like a Kardashian. I wasn't used to having cameras around all the time. It was out of the comfort zone, but it was definitely an experience. It was for the better."

Lovato fessed up that her road to recovery has been anything but smooth sailing. She said,

"I cannot tell you that I have not thrown up since treatment. I cannot tell you that I have not cut myself since treatment. I'm not perfect. This is a daily battle that I will face the rest of my life."

What's the craziest thing you've ever done?

Demi Lovato claims she has always had an eating disorder and has never had a normal relationship with food. She has been bringing up the eating disorder topic since first coming out about it over a year ago, hoping it would free her from her overeating and starvation cycle.

Demi claims she started overeating at age 8, when she was a binge eater. She then tried the starvation diet approach after being harassed by other girls in school for being too heavy. Demi recalls,

"When I turned 12 I was bullied in school and they called me fat. I went from being an over-eater to stopping eating and I lost about 30 lbs. From then n, I continued under-eating, but my weight plateaued. [Then] I started throwing up to lose weight."

Demi has since come out about her disorder and sought treatment for her anorexia and bulimia. She admits her recovery will be a long-term process and needs all the help she can get. Hoping she could help other girls facing the same situation, Demi commented,

"There's definitely a temptation- every meal I fight it. It's an addiction and I'm going to have to fight it for the rest of my life. There's no cure and I may mess up, but I want to be a better role model for my fans and my younger sister."

Three days after her tragic passing, Whitney Houston is still dominating the headlines. But regardless of what news details about her death come out, a music icon is gone forever and her loss is felt deeply within the Latino community.

Since Houston's passing, several Hispanic stars have tweeted out their condolences.

One Latina star who took the news especially hard was Demi Lovato, who told her Twitter followers that she would be going on a "mind and body cleansing retreat" to cope with the loss. She went on to list Houston as one of her biggest musical idols.

"This can't be true," she wrote, "One of my idols gone??" she posted. "This is so unbelievably sad…#RIPWhitneyHouston."

Pitbull (whose music differs quite a bit from Whitney's) proved he was a big fan when he wrote,

"RIP Whiney Houston – que descanses en paz."

Ricky Martin tweeted out some inspiring words as well, posting,

“RIP Whitney Houston. Sending my love and deepest condolences to her family and friends. Fly Whitney Fly.”

Jennifer Lopez seemed shaken by the loss too, writing,

"Such a loss. One of the greatest voices of our time. Sending out prayers to her family…#R.I.P.Whitney."

And these are just notes from the fans. A few privileged Latinos actually had the opportunity to work with Whitney and spoke out about the unforgettable experience. Mariah Carey famously dueted with Houston on "When You Believe" and sent out a very heartfelt message to her fans and followers.

Tr3s fave Fernando Garibay also had the chance to sit in the studio with Whitney, producing "Nothin' But Love" from her 2009 I Look To You album. Speaking to his Twitter followers, he wrote,

"I was lucky to work with Whitney and in our in little way we will celebrate her life tonight. 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' Forever."

And if you want to see the impact her death has had on the Twitter community at large, just search the term #R.I.P.Whitney and you'll see an endless outpouring of love.

Start planning fellas, Valentine's Day kicks off tomorrow which means flower stores and romantic restaurants are going to be filled to the brim. And over in La La Land, the same sentiment applies, as dozens of Hollywood stars prep for the year's most amor-heavy night.

Khloe Kardashian opened up about her Valentine's ritual with hubby Lamar Odom. Though she may come off as a party girl in her reality series, she told Hollyscoop that she prefers spending her V-Days relaxing in bed.

"I'm just excited to spend it with Lamar," she went to say. "And I would just love to lay in bed."

Jennifer Garner seemed to have the same idea, stressing that a relaxing morning with the fam can be just as romantic as a fancy dinner. Speaking about life as a mom expecting her third child soon  (and wife of a superstar), she told Popeater,

"You change the definition of romance [with children]. Romance is romance, but in addition romance can just be breakfast over the tops of heads. Just getting through the day. You just have to make that be romantic."

Over in Washington, first couple Michelle and Barack Obama have been known to show their soft side too. Speaking recently with Access Hollywood, the First Lady dished on her upcoming Valentine's plans.

"[Barack] always has to plan Valentine's," she jokingly said. "That's his job. I think there may be a 'date night' but we'll have to wait and see. It's hard for him to pull off the big surprise when you've got a motorcade and escorts."

Interestingly, there may be a few celebrity first dates happening on Valentine’s Day too. Several big stars are now unattached and could be looking for a shot from Cupid's arrow. Katy Perry has been flaunting her "singlehood" with several girl's nights out and a ringless wedding finger. Newly divorced Heidi Klum may be on the prowl too (though we doubt it after her "painful" breakup with Seal).

Even a Tr3s fave hinted that she may be on the market this Tuesday night. Despite reports that she was dating Wilmer Valderrama, Demi Lovato posted a very interesting tweet this past weekend.

"Valentines day is only 4 days away?!! Wow….Well, who wants to be my valentine??!"

We're sure she'll have no shortage of suitors after that post. And, for the record, it seems like all of America is ready to put a little love in their hearts this week too. The rom com movie The Vow swept the box office this weekend, earning a cool $41 million!

The "People" have spoken and it seems they love Demi Lovato. The part-Mexican starlet proved to be the belle of the ball at last night's People's Choice Awards, taking home Best Pop Artist and delivering a powerhouse performance of "Give Your Heart A Break."

But Lovato wasn't the only one the crowds went nuts for. Robert Pattinson, Lea Michelle, and Emma Stone made a major mark as well.

In the movie department, the Choice was clearly Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. The final Hogwarts installment nabbed Favorite Movie, Favorite Action Movie, and Favorite Ensemble Cast. Johnny Depp (who skipped the ceremony) made a big mark as well, earning Favorite Action Movie Star and Favorite Animated Movie Voice for Rango.

Other winners from the big screen included Ryan Reynolds for his work in Green Lantern and Hugh Jackman for Real Steel. The box office smash Bridesmaids earned the title of Favorite Comedy Movie and Morgan Freeman took home Favorite Movie Icon.

On the TV side of things, How I Met Your Mother got plenty love, first for Favorite Comedy and then for Favorite Actor (which went to Neil Patrick Harris).

Betty White was on hand to accept a Favorite Cable TV Comedy award for her show Hot In Cleveland and Jimmy Fallon earned the title of Favorite Late Night TV Host.

In the reality realm, American Idol beat out The Voice for Favorite TV Competition Show. And not surprisingly, Kim Kardashian earned the title of Favorite TV Celebreality Star (though some in the crowd weren't too happy about that).

In the world of music, Katy Perry scored four awards for Favorite Song ("E.T."), Favorite Video, Favorite Female Artist, and Favorite Tour Headliner. That would have been quite an accomplishment for the pop songstress…if she decided to show. But seeing how Katy’s going through a painful divorce, she chose to bail on the festivities.

Tr3s fave Bruno Mars earned the title of Favorite Male Artist. And though he didn't get up on the stage, he let his fans know that was eternally grateful for the honor.

"I'm currently walking down the street screaming "I am an ultimate male"!! Thank you at @peopleschoice and to those that voted! #hooligans" he tweeted.

And, as per usual, there was plenty of high fashion in effect last night too. Miley Cyrus wowed the crowd with a chique revealing white dress. Vanessa Hudgens chose the glam route, bedazzling herself in a gold and black ensemble. And hostess Kaley Cuoco strutted very elegantly across the red carpet in a shimmering cream-colored gown.

You've got to admire Demi Lovato's honesty. The "Skyscraper" singer seemed to hold nothing back in her latest interview, discussing her battles with drugs, her drinking days, and her roller coaster relationship with Miley Cyrus.

"I'm not gonna lie. I was self-medicating," Lovato recently said. "I was doing things like drinking and using [drugs], like a lot of teens do to numb their pain. (But now) I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I don't throw up after my meals, I don't starve myself. There's nothing that I do that I feel ashamed of."

Clearly spending time in that rehabilitation clinic helped Demi slay those demons. And since she checked out last February, her career has been on a meteoric rise. Lovato's released successful music singles, delivered powerhouse live performances, and proven to be a solid role model for teenage girls.

Demi’s also learned to take the high road when it comes to her famous pals. Recently fellow Disney tween queen Miley Cyrus posted a video that mocked her and BFF Selena Gomez. Lovato explained that she's forgiven Cyrus for the incident and still considers her a friend.

"(Miley) and I are strong headed," she explained. "When we fight it's brutal and we're like, 'We're never going to be friends again!' Then two days later, were like, 'I love you and I miss you!'"
