We know the life of a VJ seems like all fun and games...

But when the cameras stop rolling our peeps spend their free time looking out for the community. L. Boogs and Carlos Santos represented for the Empower Arts Education Benefit supporting W.H.C.A.P (Washington Heights Community Arts Project) at pier 66 in New York City last night.

The gala was hosted by none other than L. Boogs (shout out to Sucker Free Latino!). He kept the crowd in order by shhing (is that a word?) the rowdy chicos in the back and even pretended to be Vanna White by showcasing raffled items.

The evening showcased the talents of MTV Tr3s Top 20/ Mi TRL host Carlos Santos también. He performed a stand-up comedy act discussing parranda etiquette and road rules in Puerto Rico. After Carlos was done warming-up the crowd, rapper Malverde came on-stage to represent the west coast. The always political rapper had no problem voicing his pro-Obama agenda in a remix he did over the Lil Wayne "A Milli" beat.

He also expressed why this event was important to him:

Art defines culture. I am a product of the influence art has on the life of a youth.

You can't beat partying for a good cause. For more info on empowering the youth of Washington Heights check out the WHCAP website. Make a difference ahora!

Jonas Brothers fans took over MTV Headquarters in Times Square last weekend after hearing that the hot hermanitos were taping an episode of TRL. Just to get into our office building, we had to break out our boy band defense system to swat away hordes of scantily-clad 16-year-olds (didn't your mama tell you not to dress like a hoochie?!).

The teen trio, after going Live and Mobile on MTV, are being featured on mtvtr3s.com esta semana as Artist of the Week. Talk about crossing over! Guess they can get some Latino love by association (did you hear that Selena G?). Check out their latest videos and fotos on the Jonas Brothers Artist Page.

But wait, it gets better! The Jersey boys will also be burning up air waves when they stop by to visit Carlos this week on Mi TRL. Tune in to see what the heart throbs are up to on Thursday, August 21st @ 4pm and 9pm.

Ready to rock out (but oh-so-hipsterly) at this year's LAMC? The 9th Annual Latin Alternative Music Conference returns to the Big Apple on July 12th. As in past years, LAMC shows off the whos-who in Latin alternative, indie and rock music with panels and exhibitions, concerts and fiestas (of course -- what Latino doesn't know that adding a party to the mix makes the music even more enjoyable?).

This year LAMC and MTV Tr3s are giving you access to see artistas diversos perform at Central Park's Summer Stage. You'll be able to watch some of your favorite artists en vivo, including our chica del momento Julieta Venegas, the Mexican alternative rock band Plastilina Mosh and Chile's most promising export DJ Bitman. Based on what went down last year, this is not a weekend to miss. If you recall, LAMC 2007 went so well that we convinced VJ Carlos to ditch his preppy pop threads for a day and walk in the shoes (Converse of course) of card-carrying LAMC hipster.

Catch performer photos and more details after the jump...

Can't get enough of Mi TRL host extraordinaire Carlos Santos?

We can't either. Even though he's short on time (between updating his MySpace, hosting Mi TRL and serving as the office payaso there are only so many hours left in the day) we asked him to host another show. Each weekend you can get your fix of Carlos and today's hottest música with the new and improved Top 20 countdown show on Tr3s, premiering this Saturday, June 28th at 12PM EST.

In addition to our favorite boricua, you never know who might be chillin' behind-the-scenes, so stay tuned to catch celeb cameos throughout the season!
