This weekend, music fans were treated to another memorable awards show with the 2011 AMAs. Outside of some lively performances from Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, and Enrique Iglesias, the event featured big wins for Taylor Swift and a JLo outfit that got the gossip blogs buzzing.
Swift probably received the most attention of the night, taking home Artist of the Year, Country Female Artist, and Country Album. Fresh off her CMA sweep, Taylor seemed to be quite overwhelmed by her monster victory.
"I want to thank my band and my crew and the fans for filling up stadiums," said an emotional Swift from the stage. "And my mom and my dad and my brother who came with me tonight, and my fans who continue to amaze me."
Adele didn't do too bad either, earning the night’' Adult Contemporary Artist award as well as Pop/Rock Female Artist. Nicki Minaj (who delivered an incredible live rendition of "Turn Me On" with David Guetta) scored two AMAs herself, for Rap/Hip-Hop Album and Rap/Hip-Hop Artist.
And the AMAs made sure to honor a few Latinos too. Bruno Mars won for Pop/Rock Male Artist and JLo got the Latin Music Artist trophy. Lopez, in particular, attracted a ton of coverage for her revealing bodysuit. At 42-years-old, she flaunted a near perfect body during her performance of "Papi."
Jennifer did get a little bit of heat from the critics though, for bringing out a Fiat car during her live set. Many felt that the move was a blatant form of advertising (Lopez is currently a Fiat spokesperson) and thought it cheapened her performance.
And though they didn't take home awards, Tr3s faves Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull and Christina Aguilera made their presence known too. Enrique was backed up by a full-blown marching band for a lively rendition of "I Like How It Feels." Pit joined JLo for her second song of the night, "On The Floor," and Xtina and Adam Levine rocked the house with their hit duet "Moves Like Jagger."
Other highlights included tributes to Heavy D, a Justin Bieber/David Hasselhoff appearance, and will.i.am debuting his new track, "T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever)." But as lively as it was, the 2011 AMAs failed to make a major dent with viewers. Last night's show scored a dismal 1.3/3 ratings share, marking an all-time American Music Award low.

Latinos are taking over the stage at this year's American Music Awards! A long list of performers are set to hit the stage live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on November 20th, including Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Pitbull, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, LMFAO, Kelly Clarkson, Nicki Minaj, David Guetta, and Usher. The show will also be hosted by Nicki Minaj and Pitbull. We can't wait to see the chemistry these two have on stage!
Christina Aguilera may have received some (unnecessary) flack for her fuller and curvier look during Michael Jackson's tribute concert, but that won't stop the blond bombshell from showing the world her vocal skills. The pop singer will share the stage with Maroon 5 for a special performance of their hit single "Moves Like Jagger."
We just hope J.Lo doesn't have another accident on stage like she did at last year's awards while performing "Louboutins"!
What performances are you looking forward to the most?

November is going to be a busy month for award shows. Just two weeks after the Latin Grammys air, the American Music Awards will be broadcast and they are boasting a stellar cast of nominees. Tr3s faves like Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, and Bruno Mars will all be competing.
Pit and Bruno actually scored two nominations each this year. Mars is up for Favorite Pop Male Artist and Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist. Mr. 305 will be fighting for Pop Male Artist too, as well as Best Latin Artist (against J. Lo and Enrique Iglesias).
But the AMA darling of the night will most likely be Adele. The British crooner is up for four awards, including the coveted Artist of the Year. Katy Perry, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga each scored three noms and should offer some stiff competition in the Female categories.
Interestingly, another up-and-coming Latino got some AMA love as well. R&B star Miguel scored a nomination in the New Artist of the Year category. Known for his hit, "All I Want Is You," he'll be fighting it out against LMFAO and Wiz Khalifa.
You can see exactly who takes home what when the American Music Awards go live on November 20.

Viewers of this year’s American Music Awards got treated to brand new beats and old school boy bands with a ceremony that pretty much delivered as expected. While there were no wild surprises, the show did move along at a steady pace, honoring the usual superstars we know and love.

As expected, Justin Bieber proved to be the night’s biggest winner. He took home statues for Favorite Breakthrough Artist, Favorite Pop Male Artist, and Favorite Artist Of The Year. Add those to his EMAs, Teen Choice Awards, and MTV Moon Men and it’s clear that he’s had a pretty good year.
Other winners included Rihanna (sporting an elegant red gown) for Best R&B Female Artist, Usher for Best R&B Male and Best R&B Album, and the Black Eyed Peas for Favorite Pop Rock Band. Speaking of the Peas, they kicked off one of the night’s most talked about performances, with a glow-in-the-dark sneak peek of “This Time” from their upcoming The Beginning record.
And who was the top-ranked estrella of the night? That would be Shakira, who took home the Favorite Latin Artist award, beating both Daddy Yankee and Enrique. Though the evening was a far cry from last week’s Latin Grammys, it did offer a little bit of multicultural flava with Enrique’s live crowd-bumping version of “I Like It.”
Perhaps the most interesting live performance came from ‘90s flashback acts the Backstreet Boys and New Kids On The Block. The two legendary boy bands united onstage and performed an upbeat mashup of all their greatest hits. Now calling themselves NKOTBS, the nine guys plan to tour together starting next spring.
As with all award shows, red carpet outfits were a big part of the 2010 AMAs too. While most of the big names (like Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry) kept it chic and fashionable, there were a few wild cards to keep the fashion blogs buzzing. Nicki Minaj sported a rather bizarre red and gold ensemble that looked like it had a rib cage on it and Ke$ha…well, as we know, Ke$ha is Ke$ha.
Predictable? Yes. But this year’s AMA’s still had quite a bit of fun added in too. And with its broad mix of artists, the show had a little something for the boy band lover in all of us.

Get ready for full-blown awards season. We’ve got the Latin Grammys cooking up in Vegas, the EMAs scheduled in roughly four weeks, and now the American Music Awards set to take place November 21! Just this past week, the AMA nominations were announced and we’re expecting a heated competition between Latino estrellas Shakira, Enrique Iglesias, and Daddy Yankee.
Oh yeah, there will be plenty of Latino love happening at this year’s AMAs. They even got a few Tr3s faves to reveal the nominations. Demi Lovato and Taio Cruz made the announcements in downtown L.A. on Tuesday (October 12) and, as expected, top artists like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, and Eminem got the most attention.
In case you’re wondering how the AMAs differ from the Grammys, this awards show is decided strictly by the fans. Yeah the Grammys get the “respect”, but they’ll often pick winners based on the opinions of frou frou critics vs. mass public appeal.
Not here. The AMAs encourage fan participation and have even set up a category (the Breaktrhough Artist Award) which will based on texts from people watching at home. Taio Cruz happens to be up for that one, so we KNOW who you’ll be voting for, right?
The other big one we’re excited about is 2010’s Favorite Latin Artist. Shakira, Enrique, and Daddy Yankee are all up for this award, which means it’s going to be a TOUGH one to decide. Shakira had her “Waka Wakas,” Enrique’s riding high on “I Like It,” and Daddy Yankee…well, his talent goes without saying. Can’t they just declare this category a three-way tie?

If you're on the East coast, you probably caught Jennifer Lopez's epic fall during her performance of "Louboutins" at Sunday's American Music Awards. If you reside out west, you might have missed it - the hilarious embarrassing clip was edited out of the West coast feed. Instead, they showed JLo's jump in slow motion and cut to her standing up. De todas maneras, we're sure you've heard about it by now (and you can watch the clip here too)!
La canta-actriz boricua and mother of 2 isn't taking all the joking at her expense lightly! JLo called Ryan Seacrest's radio show esta mañana and attempted to joke about the incident.
"Did I trip a little bit? I don't even remember. Yeah, I meant to do that. That was part of the choreography."
Um, sorry, pero no te creemos ese cuento! We do give her mad props for her quick recovery though!
Jenny made sure to mention, "The measure of things isn't what happens when you fall, it's how you recover when you fall."
Palabras to live by! [PerezHilton]

The bachata boys from the BX definitely held their own at last night's American Music Awards. Aventura took home the award for Favorite Latin Music Artist. A nosotros nos parece bien merecido, and it was in a category with some top contenders!
Aventura was up against Luis Fonsi (who seems to be winning a lot of awards these days), and chart-topping reggaeton duo, Wisin y Yandel. La competencia was hot indeed, but there could only be one winner. El AMA went to bachata kings, Aventura! Felicitaciones!!

Extra extra! Miley Cyrus' noticia backup dancers were freaky...

But not as freaky as some of the estrellas that walked the red carpet at last night's American Music Awards. Revealing silhouettes and bright metallic hues ruled la noche, but unfortunately not all of the celebs were caught rocking their get-ups in style. The vicious estilo trends claimed their victims without mercy, but who wore their look the best? YOU DECIDE!
