We could see this coming from a mile away. After heavy criticism from the gay community (and some very low ratings), ABC execs have decided to pull the plug on Amaury Nolasco's cross-dressing sitcom Work It.

The interesting thing though, is how quickly the mid-season series got the axe. After a massive advertising push, Work It got yanked after just two episodes! That gives it the title of being one of fastest cancellations of the season.

Of course if you happened to see an episode, you'll understand why. Though Amaury's got a ton of talent, it wasn't showing here. Work It felt contrived, outdated, and worst of all unfunny.

GLAAD had been fighting to pull Work It off the schedule even before the first episode. The gay and lesbian organization felt the cross-dressing angle was intentionally demeaning to the transgender community.

"While many of ABC's positive and groundbreaking portrayals of LGBT people have been critical and popular successes, the public had little interest in this outdated show," GLAAD spokesman Herndon Graddick said.

Clearly his point was well taken.

Yes the fall TV season has come and gone. But that doesn't mean you won’t be seeing new series, premieres, and reality specials in the next several weeks. In the world of television, "midseason" plays a vital role and many of the big networks are using talented Latinos to help carry their latest shows.

Case in point, Work It. Anyone watching ABC recently has seen the onslaught of promos, teasers, and bottom-of-the-screen graphics of Amaury Nolasco in female drag. And though it may not be pretty, the network is hoping it will strum up big laughs. This Tuesday night sitcom focuses on two guys who dress as gals to score a high-paying gig. But will it pay off in prime time? Work It may be in for an uphill battle, especially considering its recent GLAAD controversy.

Another Latino-heavy show is CBS' ¡Rob! You can expect lots of Adam Sandler-esque jokes from this culture clash sitcom. Featuring Rob Schneider, Cheech Marin, and Lupe Ontiveros, it follows the life of a straight-laced “gringo” who marries into a zany Mexican family. We’re actually keeping our fingers crossed for this one, particularly because it's got the always reliable Eugenio Derbez in the cast.

Jorge Garcia is reuniting with Lost producer J.J. Abrams for what may be the midseason's most anticipated new drama. Alcatraz is still shrouded in mystery, but rumors say it will feature elements of time travel and government coverups. Expect big ratings when it premieres later this month on Fox.

Another eerie Fox show is hoping to bring Kiefer Sutherland back to the prime time schedule. Touch is supposedly tied to the world of supernatural psychics and features Peruvian native Roxana Brusso in the cast. Comic book fans will definitely be tuning in for this one, as it was created by Heroes mastermind Tim Kring.

For all of you who need a little more Glee in your lives, NBC is debuting a musical-based series called Smash this February. Featuring American Idol alum Katherine McPhee and Will & Grace’s Debra Messing, the hour long drama will be heavy on the song and dance factor. Plus, it's got Latin newcomer Jaime Cepero in a supporting role.

And though it might not be brand new, the cult IFC hit Portlandia should deliver a ton of indie laughs this January. Featuring Saturday Night Live’s Fred Armisen (who is part Venezuelan), this quirky comedy is kicking off its second season and has some great guest stars lined up. Expect to see Kristen Wiig, Tim Robbins, and Eddie Vedder add big LOLs to the Pacific northwest.

It seems the transgender community isn't too keen on seeing Amaury Nolasco in a dress. The Puerto Rican star's new ABC sitcom Work It is set to debut in January, but if GLAAD has their way, it may never hit the air at all.

The reason? The gay rights organization believes it is demeaning to transgender men and women. They say its premise, which revolves around Nolasco dressing in women's clothing to score a job, plays on negative stereotypes.

"Transphobia is still all too prevalent in our society and this show will only contribute to it," GLAAD president Mike Thompson recently stated. "It will reinforce the mistaken belief that transgender women are simply ‘men pretending to be women,’ and that their efforts to live their lives authentically as women are a form of lying or deception."

ABC strongly disagrees, claiming the show is modern-day update of the Tom Hanks sitcom Bosom Buddies. Regardless of its political undertones, the entire concept of Work It seems a little stale to us. Amaury's got a ton of talent and, judging by the latest promos, they're definitely not being put to good use here.

Who knew Amaury Nolasco had so many famous friends? Celebs like Wilmer Valderrama, Cedric the Entertainer, and Adam Rodriguez all turned out for the Prison Break star's Golf Classic in Puerto Rico. Of course they were swinging clubs for a good cause, Nolasco's event helped raise big bucks for cancer research.

"This is definitely a dream come true," Amaury said. "I am extremely happy and grateful to be celebrating here today. The reason for this project is to motivate everyone to join us in this great effort to put smiles on the faces of children who suffer from this terrible evil disease, called cancer."

Throughout the day, stars got to take their best shots on some of Puerto Rico’s most luxurious greens. Then as dusk approached, everybody hit Palomino Island for a night of dancing, drinks, and live performances from Manny Manuel and Vico C.

Nolasco seemed to be all smiles, especially in the pix with gorgeous girlfriend Jennifer Morrison. And you expect to see a lot more of Amaury in the coming months. His new sitcom Work It just got picked up by ABC for the fall season.

Max Payne that is...

Amaury Nolasco, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, and Mark Wahlberg are all sharing the big-screen this season in the new thriller film "Max Payne." MTVTr3s caught up with the actors to learn a little more about what to expect from the film, as well as, what attracted them to their action-packed roles.

Famous for his "good guy" role in "Prison Break", Boricua actor Amaury was excited to finally play a bad guy:

It was a great opportunity/ challenge to play a bad guy...I got to go to dark places that I don't get to see much.

Watch the video and find out what sealed the deal for Ludacris. If you look closely you can see the infamous sprinkler scene he spoke about in his exclusive interview with Blogamole. Max Payne is now playing in theaters nationwide.
