Notice a lot of “green” messaging popping up this past weekend? No it wasn’t St. Patrick’s Day Part II. Sunday actually marked the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day and celebs and eco-warriors alike united to celebrate la tierra.

As expected, Twitter was fluttering with hashtags about Mother Earth. Noted vegan Alicia Silverstone took the opportunity to post her favorite animal pictures. Britney Spears sent out a themed message too, though we weren’t sure if it was Tweeted in jest.

"Happy Earth Day! My kids love Rainforest Cafe, therefore let's support the rainforest!" she said.

Environmentally conscious actor Emilio Estevez made sure his voice was heard in the Twitterverse too, writing,

“Earth DAY? Really? What about Earth EVERY day? Celebrate our planet 24/7/365. Get your hands off the keyboard and into the dirt.”

“Happy Earth Day to everyone. Let's all learn to be more mindful of our impact on the planet that sustains us. #EarthDay,” came from Taylor Lautner’s Twitter account.

Edward James Olmos encouraged his Followers to join him for an Earth Day paddleboard race in Santa Monica, California. And Ke$ha kept things short and sweet, simply Tweeting, “Happy #earthday animals!!!”

Even Google got into the mix, transforming its letters into a colorful array of flowers. Of course what made the home page pic even more interesting was the fact that company exec Jennifer Hom actually grew the logo in her own backyard.

But of course the Earth Day activities weren’t just relegated to cyberspace. Around the world, thousands of environmentalists took a stand for the environment. In Budapest, thousands of activists took to the streets with their bicycles for a successful march.

In Tokyo, the message was skewed towards “No Nukes.” Tons of decorative citizens hit the streets in costumes and surgical masks to protest Japan’s nuclear power plants.

Half a world away in the California deserts, the message was the same. Coachella weekend two brought out tons of Earth Day fans and shout outs from the bands performing. The organizers even went so far as to build a 20-foot “dinosaur” out of tin cans, which they lovingly called Recyclosaurus Rex.

Celebs like Kristen Stewart, Emma Roberts and Joe Jonas were also spotted at Coachella this weekend, donning green bracelets and paraphernalia to celebrate Dia de la Tierra.

One other new Earth Day celeb worth mentioning is Oscar the monkey! His eco-friendly Chimpanzee movie made an impressive amount of cash this weekend, coming in fourth at the box office right behind The Hunger Games.

Sure we like to poke fun at all of the chisme stories celebrities get entangled in, but when it comes down to it, most of Hollywood has a very big heart. And this weekend brought out a ton of stars helping needy families at Thanksgiving soup kitchens.

Kim Kardashian made a very public appearance at the Los Angeles Mission on Thursday, dishing out turkey and biscuits to hungry So Cal residents. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Zoe Saldana also lent a helping hand, much to delight of their hungry fans.

Elsewhere in the country, famous names like Chris Bosh, Mike Epps, and Lil Wayne made charitable appearances and even handed out whole turkeys. Judging from the pictures that were posted online, it's clear their good tidings were a huge success and helped set a good example to everyone watching giant floats on their TVs.

Positive vibes made their way to the Twitterverse too, with tons of celebrity well-wishers sending out grateful posts for their holiday dinners. Harold & Kumar’s Neil Patrick Harris told his followers what he was most thankful for.

"Happy Thanksgiving everyone. There are so many things to be thankful for this year, I’m very blessed. Hope you had a stress free day," he posted.

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi threw in a heart symbol for her holiday tweet.

"Happy Thanksgiving tweedos!!! Enjoy your time with your fam ♥," she wrote.

And several Tr3s faves made sure their fans shared in the turkey day love too.

"Happy Thanksgiving!.. Let's be thankful for what we DO have.. For just breathing fresh air is a blessing. My love to you all!" came from Wilmer Valderrama's account.

Eva Longoria wrote,

"Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Have a beautiful day with your families and give Thanks to God and anyone who contributes to your life!"

And what holiday is complete without a Sofia Vergara tweet? She even added a little Spanglish into her festive post.

"Feliz thanksgiving everybody!" she tweeted.

Of course, not all celebs made their messages about turkeys. This year, several famous bloggers encouraged their fans to skip Thanksgiving's traditional birds and stick with a vegetarian-based dinner.

"Did you know that every year between 250 and 300 million turkeys are bred for slaughter in The United States?" Ellen DeGeneres wrote. "More than 46 million for Thanksgiving alone. So, this Thanksgiving, instead of eating a turkey, please join me in adopting one from Farm Sanctuary’s Adopt A Turkey Project and you can give a turkey something to be thankful for."

Actress Alicia Silverstone backed up her famous friend, writing,

"It's so simple to create a delicious holiday meal without animal cruelty. I promise no one will miss the turkey! Enjoy!"

Don't worry, we're not judging any turkey eaters. But we definitely respect everyone's opinion and all of the stars who were willing to add a little charity into their four-day weekend.

Hello again all of you Pelis and Popcorn fans! After a few weeks of encores, we're back in business with a brand new premiere featuring a true Tr3s fave. Yup, this week's P and P is all about Benicio del Toro. Some people say that Beni hit his prime in the last few years with movies like Che and 21 Grams. Not us. We're all about the late 1990's del Toro and Excess Baggage!

Truly a forgotten gem, this 1997 flick captures Benicio right after his star-making role in The Usual Suspects. Young, charismatic, and hunky as ever, there were rumors that he was romancing his Baggage costar Alicia Silverstone behind-the-scenes. Of course, del Toro's a family man now (sort of), but back then he was a definite teen girl crush.

And for all the fellas out there, Silverstone was riding high at this point. Fresh off her turn in Clueless and those Aerosmith videos, she was a true American dream girl.

Part slapstick, part crime caper, part rom-com, Excess Baggage is just good old fashioned fun. The story revolves around a rich socialite (played by Alicia) who attempts to kidnap herself to get her dad's attention. Things go awry when she really is taken hostage by Benicio the carjacker. For the record, del Toro doesn't know about his "excess baggage" until he steals a BMW and finds her in the trunk!

From there, it's pure rollercoaster time. There are car chases, explosions, and the always reliable Christopher Walken as "Uncle Ray." Even a pre-Dolphin Tale Harry Connick Jr. makes an appearance as Benicio's partner in crime.

It's interesting to note that Silverstone served as a producer on the film. Though (to be fair) some critics have lambasted her performance. Alicia happened to score a Razzie nomination for her Baggage acting chops, which could be deemed as a tad unfair. She has great chemistry with del Toro and let's not forget about all of her sexy costume changes!

You can judge for yourself with the P and P premiere of Excess Baggage this Saturday night!
