Alacranes Musical have good reason to thank their guardian angels. The Mexican band were allegedly attacked after finishing a performance in Escobedo, Mexico, by unknown men in two black trucks. No one knows the motive for the incident, but the Alacranes are relieved that no one was hurt.
The group released a statement about the violent attack:
"Alacranes Musical feel very at peace for coming out of this terrible incident unharmed. This will not stop us from working in Mexico where we have thousands and thousands of fans".
Thank goodness the group survived! There have been a string of other attacks against Mexican bands including one against narcocorridos' singer Gerardo Ortiz, back in March. Unfortunately the group didn't experience a similar fate after Ortiz's manager, Ramiro Caro, was shot and killed along with their driver, Abel Valle Rosales.
The drug cartel war has claimed countless of victims in Mexico and hasn't spare the lives of several musicians.

Oh, snap! This Alacranes Musical drama is getting out of hand! You probably remember the legal troubles in regards to the band name, which is currently being used by two bands, as the dispute for legal control of the name continues between Memo Ibarra's group and that of los hermanos Urbina.
Pues anoche las cosas se pusieron color de hormiga as yet another band, Los Alacranes de Durango, have filed suit against Memo Ibarra y Omar Sanchez, and the entire group was arrested before a concert in Guanajuato, México.
A representative for the band issued a statement in which he expressed his confusion over the entire situation:
"No entendemos lo que pasa, por qué los de Alacranes de Durango alegan que ellos fueron los primeros en registrar el nombre; sin embargo, son conceptos distintos Alacranes Musical y Alacranes de Durango."
Come on, guys! Can't we all just get along? Qué opinan ustedes? Has this naming game gone too far? [People en Español]

If you know anything about la música Duranguense, then you must have noticed by now that there is algo muy extraño going on with Alacranes Musical. Namely, the fact that there are now dos bandas con el mismo nombre. El grupo that popularized Duranguense y la músia regional Mexicana broke up a few months ago after Alacranes Musical founder Oscar Urbina left the band due to conflicts with the guitarist and singer, Memo Ibarra and Omar "Teddy Bear" Sanchez. Oscar Urbina and the remaining members of the band continue to use Alacranes Musical as their band name... but Memo Ibarra's group isn't giving up the name of the band that made them popular either. This legal battle over the name is burning up more than una picada de alacrán!
ReMexa host and Duranguense princesa Jazmin Lopez caught up with Memo and Omar de Alacranes Musical to get the scoop on the legal drama going on between los dos grupos. See the clip below, and tell us... which Alacranes Musical group do you prefer? Who should keep the name?

Los Alacranes aren't afraid to bite.

The seven cantantes are injecting a venom-free duranguense that even leaves skeptics forgetting the two-step. Hailing from Durango, Mexico and Chicago Illinois, Los Principes erase borderlines with their fast-pace beats and heart-wrenching love songs that no broken corazón can ignore. Los Alacranes have received a wide-range of nominations including the upcoming Premios Juventud and Latin Billboard nom for "Top Latin Album Of The Year" for the hit album, "Tu Inspiración."
We recently got a chance to chat exclusively with Omar (a.k.a. The Teddy Bear) about the grupo's success and who he loves most in this world. Check out our chido interview right below the hood!
