Just in time for her performance at Thursday's (June 10) opening ceremony concert at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Shakira released her new video for "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" this week (June 7).

Shaki had this to say about the track:
"The FIFA World Cup is a miracle of global excitement, connecting every country, race, religion and condition around a single passion."
"It represents an event that has the power to unite and integrate, and that's what this song is about. This song is a synthesis of the passion for soccer and what it arouses in people."

It's official: Shakira will be clad in Cavalli when she takes stage at the 2010 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony this Thursday (June 10) in Soweto/Johannesburg, South Africa.

La Loba will perform the World Cup's anthem "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" in a body skimming full-length, zebra print body suit with cut outs, adorned by a silk fringed skirt.
Shaki and Roberto Cavalli have a long standing professional relationship, as the designer dressed La Colombiana for her last two tours.
Also scheduled to perform at the opening ceremony are Juanes, Alicia Keys, John Legend, the Soweto Gospel Choir and the Black Eyed Peas.
Will there be a fashion face-off? Team Blogamole will have a full fashion recap on Friday!

"Rock N' Gol" gave us our chance to practice screaming at the field last week. Next up: the FIFA World Cup concert on June 10! Unfortunately, our World Cup mode is hampered with some bad news — athlete and eye candy extraordinaire David Beckham will not play in the World Cup in South Africa this year, due to a torn achilles tendon he suffered back in March. Boo!

Beckham, who has played in over 100 championship league matches, currently lends his invaluable experience serving as an assistant coach to England's national football team. He can still play a key role for the squad in South Africa.
The twice runner up for the FIFA World Player of the Year is — according to former captain Rio Ferdinand — “a great ambassador for not just England but for the sport in general. He carries himself in a great way and is looked upon by millions as an idol.”
Trust us Mr. Beckham, we will definitely be looking! Despite crucial injuries, England should finish within the top four behind the top two favorites: Brazil and Spain.
Possessing a physical group of midfielders, defenders and coach Fabio Capello (known for his soccer efficiency), The Three Lions will definitely serve up some stiff competition. According to BettingExpert, Wayne Rooney of Manchester United will be the main key player to watch for alongside Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, former captain John Terry and Peter Crouch.
England's opening match is against the USA in Rustenburg and is scheduled for June 12.

Shaki is going to Africa! Freshlyground announced on Friday (April 16) that their song with the Colombian pop star has been chosen as the official 2010 FIFA World Cup anthem!

Shakira will perform "Time for Africa" with the South African band at the World Cup kickoff concert in Soweto, South Africa, on June 10. According to Yahoo! News, the song is expected to be released to radio stations across the world next week and will be available for download beginning April 26.
