A screen-to-stage version of The Bodyguard will premiere in the Adelphi Theater in the fall. Tony award-winning Broadway sensation Heather Headley will play Whitney Houston's role, as the singing diva Rachel Marron.

The Bodyguard musical, directed by Thea Sharrock, has been in the works for some time. While the production is set to open just nine months after Houston's untimely death last February, The Bodyguard producer, Michael Harrison, says he has been working on it for some time.

Harrison explained,

"I don't know, I guess some people may say that we're cashing in on Whitney's death- but I've been working on this for six years. We were all incredibly shocked by her death, especially after all the time been working on this, listening to the songs and hearing that voice. Heather is a massive Whitney fan, too. It's been very strange and very sad."

Whitney's family is invited to attend the musical on opening night, November 6. The Bodyguard was a successful acting role for Whitney, marking her acting debut. From there came her hit song "I Will Always Love You," which went straight to the top of the charts for some time.

The score will include all of the songs in the Bodyguard film, along with other Whitney songs that have become hits. Some of the songs featured in the musical include, "One Moment In Time," "Saving All My Love," "How Will I Know," "I'm Your Baby Tonight," and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," among others. "I Have Nothing" and "Run To You" will also be included in the stage production of the romantic thriller.

Will you go see 'The Bodyguard' musical if you are in town?

Minimal definitely went for irony when deciding on a name. The Miami quintet delivers maximum power on each of their songs and they're pushing the envelope even further with their release Antibalas Corazón. Vocalist Gabriel Ayala recently spoke to us about their latest sonic adventure.

"The first album we made had a pretty dark tone," Ayala explained. "It reflected a different time in our lives and we made some very experimental tracks. With this new release, we made things very colorful and we think the fans are going to dig it."

The critics have certainly taken a liking to Corazón. Described as "innovative" and "bold," the new record blends elements from each of the members' electic backgrounds. There's Spanish pop, Afro-Peruvian vibes and even hints of Mars Volta prog rock sprinkled in.

"For this album, we started off with a lot of individual ideas," Gabriel told us. "But when it came to record, we made it a very democratic process. We each have a ton of different influences and we like to honor them all."

As you can tell by the title, Antibalas Corazón definitely has the topic of love on its mind. As Ayala explained, the lyrical themes behind each of the songs were quite personal.

"The band members went through a lot of changes with their relationships and love lives and we wanted to reflect that with our new music," he said. "In life, you need to have a 'Bulletproof Heart' to deal with all of the punches that are thrown at you."

And there have been punches thrown. Some of Minimal's stylistic changes haven't sat well with all the fans. But Gabriel isn’t sweating it and believes the die-hard Minimal lovers will continue to stick with them.

"People assume that you will always do one style," he said. "But the beauty of Minimal is that we never stop pushing our creativity. Thankfully, most of our fans have embraced the new sound."

And we're sure many new fans will embrace the Minimal sound too. The guys are currently touring the southern U.S. to promote Corazón and have filmed several lively videos that are blowing up on YouTube.

Be sure to check out the official Minimal site for samples and clips from Antibalas Corazón!

It looks like David Archuleta is ready to get in touch with his Latin roots. The former American Idol star just announced that he's headed off to South America to become a Mormon missionary.

"It's going to be crazy," he said in a viral video. "I am going to South America, and I'm excited to be more part of the Spanish culture and Latin culture."

We certainly are too, but the same can't be said for his fans. Thousands of Tweeters have been begging David to cancel the trip and continue his singing career.

But "Archie's" mind is made up. David did promise that he'll return to music after his two-year stint below the border. Who knows? Maybe the experience will motivate him to finally record that album en Español.

Do you think David will make a good missionary? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.

Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb received emergency intestinal surgery this week. The 62 year old pop star went under the knife on Monday to remove a blood clot that had perforated his colon. Gibb had also had a recent surgery to address a twisted intestine.

A statement on his website read,

"Robin underwent the operation successfully, he is awake and has been talking to his doctors. He is currently being monitored and resting in the hospital and his family are hoping for his full recovery."

Robin Gibb's recovery has been strained by this emergency, and he has even had to cancel certain appearances as a result. Gibb was scheduled to attend a promotional event for the release of The Titanic Requiem album, remembering the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, but had to cancel. He is hoping to be available for the live premiere in London, taking place April 10.

We all wish Robin Gibb a speedy recovery and congratulate him on The Titanic Requiem's future success.

One of rock and roll's most beloved guitarists, Slash, claims 'Music has lost its magic.'

Slash misses the days of going out and buying records for the packaging as well as the music. Slash said,

"There was a certain excitement that came with the release of a new record, and a lot of it was just the package itself, and it was something that you milled over while you were listening to the record."

Little by little, the presentation of the album grew to be less and less of a deal. Slash was sad to see records go by the wayside. He said,

"It was sad to see them sort of get phased out but, you know, with CDs at least you still had the booklets, but now, when you look at the digital situation, you're like 'There's nothing in it,' you know. It's not even tangible any more. It's convenient, but you lose the magic of it."

While the original Guns N' Roses line-up would not be performing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, all the original members featured on the Appetite For Destruction album will attend the induction ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio on April 14.

Do you miss the old days when you could flip through artwork and lyrics while listening to a song?

Mars Volta fans are in for a big shock after listening to their latest release, Noctourniquet. According to mastermind Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, it will be the last of its kind, as the band is now in the midst of moving in a new musical direction.

"It's been 10 years of totalitarianism and dictatorship, doing things my way of having complete control over everything," Omar recently stated. "The only way the group can go on now is by changing that and opening it up. As far as the Mars Volta is concerned, [Noctourniquet is] the last record of its kind."

So what exactly does that mean? Rodriguez-Lopez went on to say that he is turning Mars into a democracy and letting members like Deantoni Parks and Juan Aldrete de la Pena have an equal say in the songwriting.

In all honesty, that may or may not bode well with the fans. Up until now, Omar was the band’s guiding force and him handing down the reigns could make for an entirely different type of sound. But you've got admire his generous nature and all you "classic" Mars fans can still relish in his last great masterpiece.

If you were in Miami last weekend and were not at Ultra Music Festival you wasted your weekend.  Founded in 1999, Ultra evolved from a one-day electronic music festival to a juggernaut three-day festival.  While Ultra is still dominant in electronic music, it has expanded to diverse genres which has only helped expand the festival to great heights.  This year the growth of the event was felt throughout the downtown Miami area!

The first day of this festival brought together music legends and Industry greats. The landscape was divided into eight different areas that offered a listener different environments to dance the night away.  On Friday, the opening night of the festival, I opted for getting close to the greater stages. You could fill your iPod for the rest of the year with all the talent that took over the "Live" and "Main" stages on Friday night. With the performances of legends like New Order and Kraftwerk to the powerhouse energy of Benny Benassi and Skrillex I couldn't find a need to go anywhere else!

Day two was beautiful, filled with sunshine and neon-wearing electro fans all around.  With so many blinding colors, it was like having traveled back in time to the 80's! Not even the scorching sun was enough to discourage the public from wearing fake animal head pieces.  This day I did venture off to visit every stage, and I came to the conclusion that all the genres promote the same ideal: Get out there and dance to your heart’s content!

Saturday was the day to see icons like M83 and first-time Miami visitor DJ Shadow on the live stage.  The "Main" stage showcased greats like Fatboy Slim and Justice.  One of the most-publicized moments of the night came when Madonna made a drug reference in her intro for Avicii!

Sunday, the festival's final day, was all about the hard-core electronic music fans.  Acts like Bloody Beatroots and Armin Van Buuren let the true devotees take back their genre!

Ultra is the playground for the hippy of the new millennium!  If you missed this year's festival,  be sure to start saving and planning as of now for next year.  To quote the legendary Daft Punk it will  be ‘Harder Better & Faster.’
