Danity Kane's Aubrey has taken a hint from Diddy and added one more asset to her career checklist -- Broadway! The Making the Band bombshell was recently cast for the part of Amber Von Tussle in the hit musical Hairspray. While this seems like another crossover ploy, Aubrey claims that's not the case. She's loved the theater desde que era niña:
I originally started out in musical theater when I was 4 — I did 'Annie,’ I’ve been doing it for a very long time, and this is my first love. My dream in life was to be on Broadway, so this is actually allowing me to fulfill my dreams.
Can this "Show Stopper" tone down her party girl image enough to pull off? Watch Aubrey behind-the-scenes on her first day of casting with MTV News:
That's not all; the songstress is also making a name for herself on the fashion scene with the launch of her clothing line called Heart on My Sleeve. Catch more of this chica's fashion sense as she struts her stuff down the runway of MTV Tr3s Fashionista, a star-studded style special airing August 16th at 2PM EST . Stay tuned for more deets! Being Latino is so hot right now...Advertisers want our money, A&Rs want in on our music and everyone wants to get the Brown look (c'mon you know that Latina women are the hottest). So, it wasn't a sorpresa that Latinas rocked the Miss Universe competition last night.
Venezuela, Colombia, Dominican Republic, and Mexico all made it to the finals yesterday, but it was Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela who won the crowd over. What locked in our vote was the contestant's compelling answer to the age old question about men vs. woman:
Men think that the fastest way to go to a point is to go straight. Women know that the faster way to go to a point is to go to the curves.
Wow wa wee wa. What a way to keep the judges on their toes! Congrats! [Lossip]

Bust a Ritmo has garnered a loyal fan base already in its short run on MTV Tr3s. Apparently, an active Salinas fanbase in Chicago wants to know why Pee Wee isn't coming to Illinois to promote the show. We don't know why either! We're glad that Perla Baltazar (Pee Wee admirer and active Blogamole reader) was proactive enough to start an online campaign for it. If you want to see the real Kumbia King in Chicago, sign her petition aquí.
If you don't stand for Pee Wee, you'll fall for anything!

Ready to rock out (but oh-so-hipsterly) at this year's LAMC? The 9th Annual Latin Alternative Music Conference returns to the Big Apple on July 12th. As in past years, LAMC shows off the whos-who in Latin alternative, indie and rock music with panels and exhibitions, concerts and fiestas (of course -- what Latino doesn't know that adding a party to the mix makes the music even more enjoyable?).
This year LAMC and MTV Tr3s are giving you access to see artistas diversos perform at Central Park's Summer Stage. You'll be able to watch some of your favorite artists en vivo, including our chica del momento Julieta Venegas, the Mexican alternative rock band Plastilina Mosh and Chile's most promising export DJ Bitman. Based on what went down last year, this is not a weekend to miss. If you recall, LAMC 2007 went so well that we convinced VJ Carlos to ditch his preppy pop threads for a day and walk in the shoes (Converse of course) of card-carrying LAMC hipster.

Wisin Y Yandel have made their way to the top of the charts with recent release Los Extraterrestres (after 34 weeks it's still on Billboard's top 10). What we learned in paying close attention to the dynamic duo is that sometimes being a hard-hitting reggaetonero doesn't mean you can't have a softer side. Por ejemplo:
Did you know that Wisin has mad love for telenovelas?
Ladies don't you just love the idea of your novio snuggling up on the couch with you ready to watch your fave soap? Dreamy! [MTV Tr3s Noticias]
Mi Gente, it's almost that time. The judges have received your submissions, from the weird and wacky to the bold and the bello, for el concurso “Pimpeando Pee Wee”. At present, we're deliberating who the Pee Wee chosen one will be. Boy did you guys make it tough!
Once the final decision has been made we'll name the lucky fan who is set to receive una llamada from the ex Kumbia King, and who will have their design posted on the MTV Tr3s site, Blogamole, and Pee Wee's Official My Barrio page.
If you don't make the cut, no te preocupes. There's still a chance for your skills to shine. There will be two runner ups picked as well!
See what they will win when the big announcement drops. Stay tuned!
Can't get enough of Mi TRL host extraordinaire Carlos Santos?
We can't either. Even though he's short on time (between updating his MySpace, hosting Mi TRL and serving as the office payaso there are only so many hours left in the day) we asked him to host another show. Each weekend you can get your fix of Carlos and today's hottest música with the new and improved Top 20 countdown show on Tr3s, premiering this Saturday, June 28th at 12PM EST.
In addition to our favorite boricua, you never know who might be chillin' behind-the-scenes, so stay tuned to catch celeb cameos throughout the season!

Julieta Venegas' latest opus Julieta Venegas MTV Unplugged was officially released worldwide yesterday. In addition to her amazing performance, this CD/DVD marks Julieta's debut as producer. There is nothing this woman can't do! Hence why we heart her so.
When asked about this new turning point in her career, this is what the Mexicana had to say:
If you still haven't watched the 'MTV Unplugged' special (órale, what are you waiting for?!), make sure to check it out here. And make sure to tune-in to Mi TRL tomorrow, June 19, at 4pm EST and 9pm EST for a special appearance by Julieta!

Dreams do come true mi gente. Take a look at the Tony Awards for instance. Last night, Lin-Manuel Miranda's "In The Heights" came home with four awards (out of 13 nominations) including "Best Musical!" We never thought we'd see the day that Puerto Rican flags and spoken word would grace the stage of the Tony's, but it looks like we've arrived.
After the festivities calmed down on stage, the creator had some inspiring palabras to share with the audience:
I used to dream about this moment; now I’m in it. Tell the conductor to hold the baton a minute. … Mr. Sondheim, look, I made a hat where there never was a hat, and a Latin hat at that.
Now, if only we can get him working on "Sundays at Orchard Beach" we'd be golden.
Join the cast of "In the Heights" when they show off sus premios Tonys to MTV Tr3s on Mi TRL this Thursday @ 4pm. [Lossip]

Last night L. Boogs celebrated his cumpleaños and took Sucker Free Latino, and some of his favorite amigos (particularly los de La Isla) along for the party.
B-Day scenesters spotted at the venue, New York's Spotlight Live, were Kat DeLuna, Notch, The DEY, Oro Solido, and Maino (“Hi Hater”). The club was packed with mamacitas y artistas from wall to wall. Boogs made the rounds running into celeb buddies like Malverde, who was big pimpin' the bottle service in the VIP. The party popped off with The DEY, but the night's main performance came from Notch, who riled up the crowd for a good twenty minutes. Da CrowdMover himself hit the stage, accompanied by an entourage of scantily clad women dressed like Vicky Secret Angels (let’s see if that makes it on air). To top off la noche exitosa, fellow dominicana Kat DeLuna sang a sultry rendition of Happy Birthday, finishing with a kiss (on the cheek). A very sexy Kat, dressed in all white, closed down the house with a dutty whine while performing “Whine Up” and “Run the Show.”
Other celeb drive-bys included Nina Sky -all grown up with a new look, Carlos Santos from Mi TRL, DJ Enuff and Camilo from the Heavy Hitters Crew and Swizz Beats chillin in the cut. Watch how it went down when the episode airs on Sucker Free Latino July 9th. Más fotos after the jump...
