The hottest awards south of the border are back with a vengeance for 2008. This year the show is set to take over Guadalajara, Mexico, with drive-bys from reality stars Tila Tequila , Kim Kardashian and Flavor Flav, and rockin' performances by Juanes, Belanova, Julieta Venegas, Katy Perry, Tokio Hotel, Calle 13, Cafe Tacuba, METALLICA and more.

With inventive award categories such as "Best Fan Club," "Best Music in a Videogame" and "Best Ringtone," MTV Latin America sets the tone for a truly unique award ceremony!

Catch the fun when Los Premios MTV 2008 airs Thursday, October 16th @ 9pm EST on MTV Tr3s! We didn't stutter! Metallica is ripping their heavy metal vibrations back to la tierra for Los Premios MTV Latin America 2008 on October 16th!

As the headlining band, the "Death Magnetic" legends are guaranteed to resurrect los muertos from their sleep (especially Mexican bassist Rob Trujillo)! Los Premios is going to definitely awake your roquero spirit with performances by Cafe Tacuba, Ximena Sariñana, Katy Perry, Julieta Venegas, Paramore, Tokio Hotel, Belanova, just to name a few!

What you actually want us to just stop there? NEGATIVE! We have a música overdose prepared with additional performances from blazin' Boricua duo Calle 13! Their caliente addictive beats are sure to get la fiesta poppin', and Mexican rock band Moderatto is sure to keep the energy flowing with their tight "Chavo de Onda" performance.

Even the red carpet is getting an MTV makeover! Colombian artist Don Tetto will be dominating the catwalk with a fresh espectáculo at "La Afombra de Los Premios MTV 2008." Oye, we are less than two weeks away from celebrating Los Premios awards! We are getting this fiesta started RIGHT by announcing a new set of performers...

Los Premios fifth-time nominee Cafe Tacuba is set to blast us off with a special performance along with electronic rebels Bostich + Fussible, and Chilean pop group Kudai. The "Sino" roqueros are sure to spark extra attention on-stage, especially when they are up for the coveted lengua award for "Video of the Year," "Artist of the Label" and "Best Alternative Artist," among other categories.

Besides Bostich + Fussible and Kudai's performances, you can also expect electro-pop waves to rule the evening and pulsate through your television screens! We previously announced that estrellas like Ximena Sariñana, Katy Perry, Julieta Venegas, Paramore, Tokio Hotel, and Belanova are also dominating the stage!

MTV Latin America is also honoring the one-and-only Gene Simmons! The legendary Kiss rocker is getting his rightful props for being the inspiration of the infamous tongue award. On top of that, he is set to flash his locura by presenting an award and hitting the stage.

There is no "Error" in this message! Ximena Sariñana is flexin' her poetically breezy "Mediocre" vocals by performing for the MTV Latin America Los Premios Awards on October 16th! The star line-up is going to be anything but average with blazin' performances by retro roqueros Belanova, Julieta Venegas, Katy Perry, Paramore, and Tokio Hotel.

Don't expect Ximena to have an ordinary night either. The Latin Grammy-nominated estrella is also up for four Los Premios nominations for "Best Pop Artist," "Best Artist: North," "Breakthrough Artist," and "Best Solo Artist." There is no doubt that she will win more than one award, but we will have to tune in live on Oct. 16th at 9pm to find out! The 411 we have all been waiting for has finally arrived! MTV Latin America has announced the nominees for the seventh annual Los Premios MTV.

Without a doubt, Colombian roquero Juanes ended up enamorando his way to the top of the list with a total of seven nominations. His lyrical mastery and hard-hitting stage performance may have claimed the #1 spot, but Argentina’s Babasonicos and Mexico’s Belanova were stepping-up their game with a total of six nominations.

Veteran players Cafe Tacuba and infamous youngens The Jonas Brothers also dominated la noche with five nominations, while Kudai, Miranda!, Tokio Hotel and newcomer Ximena Sariñana also nabbed four nominations each.

With new categories including, “Best Tour,” “Best Music in a Videogame,” “Best Ringtone,” “Best Music Film” and “Best Fan Club” Los Premios are skipping your traditional red carpet and rolling out the premium goods de la música Latina. Exercise your revolutionary spirits and select your winners at MTVla beginning today!

It's been qutie hectic over here at MTV HQ, what with two major awards show announcements today!!

This just in: Los Premios MTV 2008 are officially going down in Guadalajara, Mexico. PLUS, este año marks the 15th Anniversary of MTV Latin America, so we are sure it's going to be a good one! Los Premios MTV 2008 will take place in the Auditorio Telmex on October 16. If you can't be there, no te preocupes, you'll be able to catch the show on MTV Tr3s! Can't wait that long to satisfy your Premios fix? Check out the highlights from last year's epic event, including performances by Juanes, Belinda, Soda Stereo, Kudai, Avril Lavigne y más!

And as if that news weren't chévere enough - we've just heard that this year's MTV Video Music Awards are going to be held in Los Angeles on September 7th. This will be the 25th aniversario of the awards show, and it looks like this year YOU, the viewer, will be able to vote not only on the winners, but also on who gets nominated! After last year's craziness in Las Vegas, including the much-imitated Britney Spears performance, we can't WAIT to see what's in store for us this year!
