Sin City fans got some very exciting news this week. After nearly a decade of waiting, it seems the 2005 cult hit is finally getting a sequel, with Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller stepping back into the director's chair.

Titled Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, the new flick is expected to reunite a majority of the original cast. As you may remember, the original City assembled an all-star lineup of Tr3s faves, including Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson and Benicio Del Toro.

Seeing how Part 2 will be a prequel (according to Miller), there's a good chance even the characters who got killed off could be coming back for more. Speaking about the project, Rodriguez gave fans quite a lot to get excited about.

"I have wanted to re-team with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original," he said. "But I've felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations. A Dame To Kill For will certainly be worth the wait."

If all goes according to plan, cameras will start rolling this summer.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have not been seen together on the silver screen since they met on the set of Mr. And Mrs. Smith almost a decade ago.

Brangelina fans could soon rejoice, as the couple might be starring in a new movie together if auditions go in their favor. The couple are reportedly considering roles in Ridley Scott's new action thriller, The Counselor, about a respected lawyer who gets in over his head after getting involved in a drug trafficking enterprise.

Brad is reportedly up for the villain role, a man by the name of West Ray, acting alongside Oscar winner Javier Bardem. West will be trying to take out "the Counselor," played by Michael Fassbender. Angelina is going up for the female lead, but that is not certain yet. Natalie Portman is also auditioning for the role.

The Counselor is being described as "No Country For Old Men on steroids." That's quite a legacy to live up to, considering the amazing reception No Country had after its release. With an all-star cast like this, I'm sure they won't let us down.

Do you think Brad and Angelina should make another movie together?

For many people, The Three Stooges are a love 'em or hate 'em franchise. To some, they're comic geniuses who have mastered the art of slapstick. To others, they represent childish jokes that can only be appreciated by four-year-olds. We happen to think they're great and more than worthy of a big screen reboot.

This week's movie encapsulates everything fans love about the Stooges. There are perfectly choreographed face slaps, silly misadventures in the city, and a trio of stars who have the Larry, Moe and Curly mannerisms down pat!

The Stooges movie also happens to have Sofia Vergara, who delivers a knockout performance (literally) as a conniving gold digger. Interestingly, a lot of famous faces popped in for cameos here, including Glee’s Jane Lynch, Jennifer Hudson, and the one and only Snooki (doing a hilarious parody of herself).

The story falls along the lines of a typical Stooge short. Our three main knuckleheads earn their living as handymen at a local orphanage. When it's discovered that the nun-run facility is about to get foreclosed on, the guys hatch a plan to strum up cash.

Capturing each Stooge’s trademark personality (Moe the bully, Larry the wimp and Curly the boob), the filmmakers put the guys into tons of outrageous scenarios. There are comedy bits at the zoo, posh dinner parties and even in the Jersey Shore house!

But what really sells the Stooges are the three leads. Sean Hayes (Larry), Chris Diamantopolous (Moe) and Will Sasso (Curly) deliver dead-on impressions of their respective characters. Not only that, they've synchronized pristine physical routines that rival anything Bruce Lee was capable of. Yes, the intellectual comedy types may be disappointed, but for the rest of us, the Stooges deliver nonstop nyuk nyuks!

Bottom line: We knew Moe, Larry and Curly were in good hands once we heard the Farrelly Brothers were behind this film. Famous for hits like Dumb and Dumber and Something About Mary, this directing duo created a very loving tribute to the Stooges’ legacy. Fans of the classic shorts will not be disappointed. Not only that, this movie showcases some true comedic talent from Sofia Vergara and Snooki!

Tasmania is an island in the Southern Australian coast that Britain colonized a couple of centuries ago and also exterminated the aboriginal population and killed most of its wildlife. Today, most of Tasmania is covered in forests and in this scenario unfolds the story of Martin Davis (Willem Dafoe) a tracker and gun-for-hire sent by a mega corporation (never named in the movie but apparently part Pfizer-part Halliburton…) to catch an animal thought extinct for a century: the Tasmanian tiger.

Davis is warned beforehand that he might face some opposition from the locals but also possible competitors in the race to catch the animal. The corporation also provides a local contact for Davis in the form of Jack Mindy (Sam Neill) a local do-anything-for-a-buck character who takes care of accommodations.

The reasons of the corporation for trying to get the animal are not clear at the beginning but the story which is based on a novel by Julia Leigh. But it unfolds beautifully and we learned many funny things at the end. Ms. Leigh has a thing for complicated stories; she is the scriptwriter of the deeply disturbing version of Sleeping Beauty starring Emily Browning that came out last year and we reviewed here in Blogamole.

So into the Tasmanian mountains goes Martin Davis and in order to explain his presence around there he passes for an environmentalist and lodges outside of town in the home of a family. The father, a real "greenie" as the locals call them, went missing the year before. On one hand that doesn’t go down well with the local loggers, natural enemies of the greenies, but on the other hand introduces Davis to the wife and children of the missing man.

From that point on, the movie moves between the hunter's forays into the jungle and his evolving relationship with Lucy (the always lovely Frances O’Connor) and her two children; motor mouth Sass and silent Bike (Morgana Davies and Flint Woodstock).

For about twenty years now, Willem Dafoe has played from time to time this character that we can call "Sgt. Elias", always with some degree of success, but rarely you get to see a script that allows him to play a real badass. This is one of those. With a rugged topography to accompany him, Mr. Dafoe becomes just another feature in the landscape and is really a shame that an actor with that physical potential doesn't make more action movies.

Besides a good photography and magnificent locations, the simple story that The Hunter works thanks to a good script and great performances. Frances O'Connor manages a great transformation from a grief-burdened self-medicated zombie into her sharp sexy self by the end of the first half. But the children steal most of her thunder; Morgana Davies is simply hilarious in a Drew Barrymore kind of way and Flint Woodstock’s face and somber demeanor makes the perfect counterpart to her exuberance.

The Hunter is a good thriller that manages to have a heart and on top of that have an ecological message. Not bad at all.

Are you familiar with the work of Luc Besson? Internationally, the French filmmaker is known as an action movie God! And this weekend, he's delivering another powerhouse peli called Lockout. Stars Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace recently sat down with us to discuss the inner workings of their latest sci-fi shoot-em-up.

"Making Lockout was a great experience," Maggie told us. "Though it's set in outer space, we actually shot the whole thing in Serbia. It was really a lot of fun to make."

Grace is no stranger to Luc's work. She recently co-starred in the Besson's Taken alongside Liam Neeson. Maggie will also be seen in the highly-anticipated Taken 2, but kept mum on that project when speaking to the press.

Lockout’s other star, Guy Pearce, told us he had a lot of fun kicking butt on the big screen. In the movie he plays Snow, a former government agent who's sent to a space prison on a top secret rescue mission.

"At the heart of this story is this guy who's an action hero," Guy explained. "But underneath it all, he really doesn't give a sh*t. I thought it was fun to tackle a role like that."

Though Luc wrote the script, Lockout’s visual style comes courtesy of James Mather and Stephen St. Leger. Known for their inventive European commercials, the directing duo caught the eye of Besson, who quickly signed them for the project.

"I had this great meeting with Luc," Pearce told us. "He showed me James and Stephen's short films and I was blown away. I really liked their stuff. And then there's the whole concept of this movie. Yes it's sci-fi, but there are some great comedy elements too."

Grace was drawn in immediately too. And though she told us the set was quite a lot of fun, it did require her to get very physical.

"I had so many black and blue marks when this shoot was finally over," she jokingly said. "I pretty much looked like a Dalmation! But it was definitely worth it."

Oh yes, through it all you'll see Guy and Maggie fire laser guns, wrestle convicts and destroy an entire space station. Anyone looking for a cinematic roller coaster ride will NOT want to miss Lockout. Look for it in theaters this Friday!

Straight out of the "strange but true" files, it seems Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez has been offered his first movie role. The catch is, he'll have to dress up as a woman if he decides to sign on!

According to the New York Post, A-Rod recently got approached to appear in The Surrealist. Based on the life of Salvador Dali, the movie stars Alan Cumming and would have Rodriguez playing a cross-dressing secretary.

Sounds pretty bizarre to us, but the offer is legitimate. The film's director, Philippe Mora, believes Alex would be "perfect" for the role and has put an offer out to his reps.

Seeing how The Surrealist is strictly an indie production, it's doubtful the deal-makers can match A-Rod's multi-million dollar Yankee salary. But if Rodriguez is willing to do it, he's got a great wardrobe to choose from.

Do you think A-Rod would make a good looking woman? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.

Our favorite crazy rant generator Mel Gibson has recently responded to allegations of scrapping a movie project just because he hates Jews. Gibson has written an open letter to Joe Eszterhas, screenwriter of The Maccabees, in response to his accusations.

Mel insists the only reason the Maccabees script was rejected was because the script wasn't up to par. Gibson had joined forces with Eszterhas to work on what he was told was an epic drama about Judah Maccabee, a Jew leading a revolt against the Seleucid Empire. Gibson's understanding was that it was to be a different sort of film than it turned out to be.

When Gibson read the screenplay, Joe suspects he told Warner Bros bosses he will not be pursuing the project, which made Joe send an angry letter to Mel. Joe said,

"I've come to the conclusion that you never had, or have, any intention of making a film about the Maccabees. I believe you announced the project with great fanfare- 'a Jewish Braveheart'- in an attempt to deflect continuing charges of anti-Semitism which have dogged you, charges which have crippled your career. I've come to the conclusion that the reason you won't make The Maccabees is the ugliest possible one. You hate Jews."

Gibson replied with an angry letter of his own, insisting the accusations were false and that the only reason he had scrapped the project was because the screenplay was simply not good enough. Mel writes,

"Contrary to your assertion that I was only developing Maccabees to burnish my tarnished reputation, I have been working on this project for over 10 years and it was publicly announced eight years ago. I absolutely want to make this movie; it's just that neither Warner Brothers nor I want to make this movie based on your script."

Mel continued,

"Honestly, Joe, not only was the script delivered later than you promised, both Warner Brothers and I were extraordinarily disappointed with the draft. In 25 years of script development I have never seen a more substandard first draft or a more significant waste of time. The decision not to proceed with you was based on the quality of your script, not any other factor."

Wow, what drama. They should make a movie about 'the making of The Maccabees,' just that. It would sure take a full two and a half hours to explain.

Do you think Mel Gibson doesn't want to do The Maccabees because he hates Jews?

Jennifer Lawrence may be getting lots of attention in the media these days because of her Hunger Games success, but now PETA is giving her some attention as well.

During one of her interview appearances, Lawrence spoke of her experience skinning a squirrel for the film Winter's Bone. She may have gotten an Oscar nomination from the 2010 film, but might not have been too popular with PETA. The actress shared,

"I should say it wasn't real, for PETA, but screw PETA."

No, we're not talking about Hunger Games Peeta, we're talking about People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals PETA. Not as hot.

Although Jennifer wasn't trying to be disrespectful to the organization, of course they were offended by the saucy starlet. PETA president Ingrid Newkirk said,

"She's young, and the plight of animals somehow hasn't yet touched her heart. As Henry David Thoreau said, 'The squirrel you kill in jest, dies in earnest.' When people kill animals, it is the animals who are 'screwed,' not PETA, and one day I hope she will try to make up for any pain she might cause any animal who did nothing but try to eke out a humble existence in nature."

Lighten up, Newkirk. Why are these people so self righteous? Don't get me started. Ten bucks says Jennifer will be the next recipient of a flour bombing.

Lawrence has not commented on PETA's rebuttal as of yet, but I'm sure she'll say something sassy.

Do you think Jennifer is a heartless animal killer or did she just mean that comment as a joke?

Hunger Games director Gary Ross officially announced he will not be directing the sequel, Catching Fire.

Ross said,

"As a writer and a director, I simply don't have the time I need to write and prep the movie I would have wanted to make because of the fixed and tight production schedule."

Although Ross reportedly had conflicting salary demands with the Hunger Games studio, Lionsgate, there are no hard feeling between the director and the studio.

Ross commented,

"I loved making The Hunger Games- it was the happiest experience of my professional life. Lionsgate was supportive of me in a manner that few directors ever experience in a franchise: they empowered me to make the film I wanted to make and backed the movie in a way that requires no explanation beyond the remarkable results. And contrary to what has been reported, negotiations with Lionsgate have not been problematic. They have also been very understanding of me through this difficult decision."

Ross made his decision to pass on the Catching Fire sequel sometime last week. Conflicting stories when the news broke since last week made it more difficult to know whether the director would refuse to make the sequel or whether he would return.

Lionsgate released the statement,

"We're very sorry that Gary Ross has chosen not to direct Catching Fire. We were really looking forward to making the movie with him. He did an incredible job on the first film and we are grateful for his work."

Lionsgate is looking forward to working on some more projects with Ross in the future, but for now they will have to wait. There is no word yet on who might be in line for director yet, but production for Catching Fire is scheduled to begin in August.

Who would you like to see directing Catching Fire?

Paranormal Activity fans are in for a very big treat. It seems the reality horror franchise is branching out with new movies and new storylines, including one focusing on a Catholic Latino family!

That's right. According to reports, the Paranormal team is hard at work on a new spinoff centered around Hispanic folklore. Does this mean that La Llorona could be making an appearance? We certainly hope so!

All we know right now is that the project is a "cousin" to the Paranormal Activity movies and will be filmed entirely in English. Studio heads at Paramount are so excited about the script that they're fast tracking it for an early 2013 release.

And all you old school Paranormal fans don't have to worry. The original franchise is still alive and well, with a fourth installment set to hit theaters this October…just in time for Halloween!
