Now that Jason Castro’s schedule is clear until the upcoming American Idol tour, it’s time for this ousted Latino to make his rounds of exit interviews. Let’s just add that a lot of these interviews are pretty much the same -- his hair, his 'Don’t vote' controversy, if he sabotaged “Mr. Tambourine Man” on purpose. Doesn’t anybody out there have anything different to ask this kid?! Regardless, we picked Live with Regis and Kelly to spotlight for today’s Castro coverage because his song choice was one of our favorites! Disfrútalo because we probably won't be seeing him on TV anytime soon. [Pop Crunch]

Jason Castro may be gone but we’re focusing on the success this dread-head made for all alternative Latinos everywhere. Estamos orgullosos de este Colombiano for making it to the top four in this squeaky clean, predictable pop show. Jason’s “peace, love and happiness vibe” was reason enough to watch American Idol, man. No doubt David Archuleta and David Cook will be the final two in this season's finale -- way to ruin the show, producers – but all you “Dreadheads” and “Castronauts” who want to have a little “Memory” flashback of Jason Castro need to keep on reading after the jump.

A boo from the Idol judges last night for Jason Castro's performance of "Fragile" by Sting. Simon Cowell really tore him a new one after the set. We on the other hand were super happy with the song. It was romantic, sexy, and Jason even added his own Latin touch by singing in Spanish! We would have liked to see a little more from him vocal-wise but the boy knows what he's doing. Dos ¡wepas! and a high-five for Castro reppin' his Latin pride.

The Idols are featured in a pretty funny Ford commercial, which made it’s debut in last night’s episode of American Idol, and it was looking pretty great except for one tiny little problem. David Archuleta and Jason Castro play “UFOs” in the commercial! UFOs? What’s the director, Eric Heimbold, trying to say here? That Archuleta and Castro are aliens? And what kind of aliens exactly!?
Oh really? Terrorize? And you just happened to cast the only two Latinos to play UFOs out of the ENTIRE line-up of American Idol! Why you gotta play us like that? Well, overall it is a funny commercial but is this a conspiracy? We think not! [American Idol]

Ok Latinos, we got two or three candidates reppin’ the brown pride team on American Idol: Jason Castro and David Archuleta. Syesha Mercado sounds Latina but we don’t want to assume anything. No need to out yourself just yet girl. Respect. So let's get down to the browns.
Jason Castro: He’s got the look of a rockero but the face of a petty boy. This blue-eyed cutey is of Colombian descent and the first in his family to be born in the U.S. (Are you sure about that? Tee-hee) He plays the drums (Hmm, that means he’s got rhythm. Very Latino), guitar, and can sing! His former art teacher once said that Castro has "an inward confidence in himself" (Could that be Castro’s inner male machismo that Latin men are widely known for? Let’s keep going). He has also talked about working with his father, who designs and builds swimming pools. (Wait, that means he’s done labor work in the past?) Ding, ding, ding!! Latin guy right here!
David Archuleta: His mami is from Honduras who constantly played Salsa and Merengue music around David when he was a kid (Ok, nice, nice, he was stuck listening to mami’s totally uncool Latin oldies that we all once had to endure when we were niños). Born in Miami, Florida (OMG, Miami? Is that city even part of the U.S. anymore? Totally Latino!), David plays a little bit of piano (Salsa influence maybe?) and has sung in Spanish according to a recent YouTube post.
There you have it chicos, the skinny on the Latin-ness behind the 11 contestants. Now let's try to keep these guys on top! [Canadian Press]
