Imagine turning on the television and seeing Machete and El Mariachi movies 24 hours a day! That may very well become a reality with Comcast's announcement about a new Robert Rodriguez channel.
The deal is part of a new initiative by the cable company to expose more minorities on TV. Rodriguez' "El Rey" network will be focused on Latinos, while icons like Magic Johnson and Diddy will get channels positioned toward the African-American community.
What exactly will "El Rey" broadcast? According to Comcast's press release, it'll have scripted series, cartoons, documentaries, music, comedy, and sports. And we're sure they'll all come with Robert's signature touch.
"This partnership with Comcast signals an important moment for the Latino community in this country," Rodriguez stated. "We engineered El Rey to address a burgeoning opportunity to deliver unique, high-quality and compelling content to a hard-to-reach demographic and are excited to bring more opportunities to generations of talent, storytellers and dreamers through this special partnership."
Look for "El Rey" to launch in early 2014.
