Is it weird for grown men and women to play with action figures? The organizers of the massive Toy Fair convention don't seem to think so. In fact, they tailored quite a few of their latest collectibles to the comic fan boy community.
Held annually in New York City, the Toy Fair attracts as many as 1,500 manufacturers from over 30 countries. Everything from LEGOs, to Barbies, to mini Incredible Hulks are proudly put on display. Unfortunately the Toy Fair is not open to the public, but last week quite a few media outlets reported on the "must-haves" of 2012.
It seems the biggest buzz from this year's event came from the Hasbro collection. The legendary toy company displayed its latest line of Avengers action figures, which bear quite a striking resemblance to their big screen counterparts.
The hand-sized Thor mirrors the face structure of star Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans' Captain America figure replicates every bicep muscle perfectly. Reporters also got glimpses of characters from the upcoming Dark Knight Rises film, including an Anne Hathaway Catwoman model.
Other highlights included an intricate Batman LEGO set, Spider-Man web gloves, and an entire line of classic movie monsters, including Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Wolf Man. There were also Star Wars Darth Maul masks, glow-in-the-dark Nerf footballs, and battery-operated pony dolls.
Board game fans got a big treat too, as several classic lines were on display with updated features. Monopoly is prepping a big comeback with a new “Zapped Edition” that connects to your iPad.
Twister is also back in style, with a new dance feature that’ll give you a soundtrack to stretch to. And remember the classic 90's game Bop It? Now you can pick up the LED edition, which adds colorful lighting to the hand jolting exercises.
What classic toys would you like to see make a comeback? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.
