Coming close to death can bring out all sorts of revelations. And in the case of Walter Mercado, it's given him the inspiration to help needy children in his native Puerto Rico.
As we all know, Mercado had a major health scare earlier this year. There were stories about pneumonia, a heart attack, and critical hospital transfers throughout the U.S. But now, the 79-year-old mystic is back home with an entirely new lease on life.
According to Latin Gossip, Walter wants to shed his trademark capes and donate the proceeds to impoverished teens in his homeland. And keep in mind, Mercado's cowls aren't thrift store knockoffs, each one is valued at more than $1,000!
"The Walter of capes is over," he exclaimed. "The public wants me like this, of flesh and bone."
We're definitely proud of Walter's good gesture and excited to know that he's home safe. Maybe if he builds up enough strength, he can fly to Vegas for a cameo in the new Mercado-inspired Burt Wonderstone flick.
Would you be interested in buying one of Walter's capes? Sound off in the comments or @MTV3.
