For the past three days everyone has been gushing over the birth of baby Blue Ivy Carter -that is except for the New York State Health Department. After receiving numerous complaints from some very irritated parents, the health department is launching an investigation on Lenox Hill Hospital where the diva gave birth. Particularly, it's going to look into the hospital's eager willingness to accommodate Beyonce's every need while denying other parents access to their newborns.
The proud parents took over several of the hospital's executive suites and had more security than President Obama himself. While the hospital remains tight lipped, they have admitted to taking extra precautions with the arrival of Blue Ivy, such as having security cameras covered up with tape. Blue's rapper-mogul dad, Jay-Z, reportedly paid the hospital $1.3 million for the special treatment.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is siding with the famous couple, specifically with their money. During a press conference held on Tuesday Mayor Bloomberg said,
"If the hospital got paid a lot of money and it let them provide services to other people who don't have insurance or can't afford it, I'm not so sure it's a bad thing."
He went on to say,
"Full-paying patients are very valuable to hospitals in this day and age."
However, he did agree that closing off the maternity ward to other parents was unnecessary, something the hospital completely denies.
Although the state investigation will take time, if found guilty the hospital could face fines into the thousands of dollars but with $1.3 million in their pocket, who cares? Definitely not Blue Ivy Carter, who just became the youngest person ever to appear on a Billboard charts song. The super famous baby can be heard at the end of Jay-Z's new song "Glory".
Wow, just three days old and this baby already has more accomplishments than I do! But with parents like Beyonce and Jay-Z, success is to be expected.
What do you think is next for baby Blue Ivy Carter?
