For 85 years now, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was been a staple of the New York City skyline. Giant inflatable icons like Spider-Man, Snoopy, and Mickey Mouse float down Broadway every turkey day, entertaining hundreds in the streets (and millions more watching from home). And this year, the celebration is adding some Latino flair, thanks to appearances from Scotty McCreery and Cobra Starship.
Both Scotty and Starship (which features Uruguayan-born frontman Gabe Saporta) have confirmed their attendance, as has the Bolivian dance troupe Alma Boliviana. They will be joining over 8,000 participants, which include circus performers, marching bands, and the one and only Santa Claus!
But the real draw of the Parade will be the larger-than-life balloons. This year, Macy's is adding huge versions of several recognizable characters, including Ronald McDonald, Spongebob Squarepants, Kung Fu Panda, and Kermit The Frog.
You can watch all of the action Thursday November 24 starting at 9:00am Eastern time. Who knows? Maybe if we're lucky enough, we can even catch a Cobra/McCreery synthpop country duet!
