There were plenty of diamond-studded cowboy hats in Nashville Wednesday night as country music's biggest names glammed it up for the 2011 CMA's. Stars like Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, and Faith Hill arrived to thousands of cheering of fans, but ultimately, the night belonged to Taylor Swift.
Taylor even made a bit history during the event, being the second female artist ever to score two Entertainer of the Year awards. And seeing how she's just 21-years-old, we're sure she'll be breaking that record again in the very near future.
Swift seemed genuinely touched when she accepted the evening's top honor, telling the crowd,
"One of my favorite things this year is the camaraderie of these artists."
Country power couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton scored quite a unique feat themselves, earning Best Vocalist trophies in each of their respective categories. Other big winners included The Band Perry (no relation to Katy), who's "If I Die Young" took home Best Single and Jason Aldean, who won Best Album.
Though he didn't win any awards, Tr3s fave Scotty McCreery made a memorable appearance, singing the classic song, "Walk In The Country." Interestingly, some McCreery fans were upset with the broadcast after seeing their favorite crooner get cut short in the middle of his set.
Perhaps one of the night's most surprising guests was 80's pop icon Lionel Richie. Richie is actually venturing into country territory himself with the new album Tuskegee. And he even showed off his unique twang, joining the Zac Brown Band for a performance of "Georgia."
And just to prove that the CMA's sense of humor was fully intact, the show featured a hilarious skit with Brad Paisley and Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet. Singing from the podium, they joyfully mocked pop culture icons Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber to thunderous applause.
